Hey!

New to the ECF.

Been vaping since 7/8/2013 and haven't looked back or had a regular "smoke" since. I love it. My family loves that I don't smoke anymore too. Big thanks to my little brother for turning me on to it.

I currently have a eGo-T Upgrade battery and use Kanger MT3s tanks. I have about 10 different juices that I'm vaping, (trying to find "that" flavor or 2).

But...
Funny thing happened to me on this past Monday. I got 2 new juices from vaping Monkey, Chimpantea and Gorilla Glaze, on Sunday vaped the Chimpantea, great. Monday the Gorilla Glaze, again great. Then, About halfway though the day, I kept getting this burnt/metallic taste when I'd hit the vape. Strange, I thought, brand new Kanger, new juice, what was wrong?
Replaced the coil in the tank, even though it was brand new and it didn't look bad, same thing. Next I tried another juice, and the same thing, burnt/metallic taste.
Getting frustrated, I look to google, which brings me here, and I start reading about Vapers/Vaping Tongue.

Any suggestions? I know for a fact that I wasn't drinking enough water, and had a weekend full of BBQ, beer and Vaping.
Plus, I had a CT Scan done where they add contrast and tell you to drink lots of fluids to flush that stuff out, but that was done on Tuesday and this started on Monday.

Help! I've tried everything from pickles and pickle juice to scrubbing my tongue and vaping mentol flavors. I miss my vape and the all the juices!

Thanks in advance!
Josh

I found the same thing..mine came with a clone CE6 with serviceable heads

Filled it with a juice I KNOW rocks VaporGod's Strawberry Kiwi...hit on it and nothing...steam and no vapor (with a slight hint of hot coils [like a pre-burning] taste)

I drained the juice back in the bottle, rinsed the coils and wicks, then decided to pop the little rubber topper on coil, look down nothing burned but the coils looked like they had a little metallic death grip on the coils (aka wound way to freeking tight!!!) which means wicking to the coils would be practically impossible...maybe enough to get damp and make steam but not enough to wick the juice and vaporize it all so I get the hit AND the flavor

I decided to heck with it...I have like 20 more coils in the package and went to see if I could "fix" it...

I gently pulled the wick back and forth, spun the wick to try to loosen it up [slightly uncoil it]..alternated pulling the wicks back and forth (has the multiple thinner wicks vs the big fat one) and tried more or less make the coils loosen up without pulling them loose from their connection

It frayed a little...but looked "puffier" under the coils, then re-centered the coils in the head as to not short it on the side

Rinsed it again...blew it out. put back in the head...re-juiced it, and put back on my VAMO V3 at 7 watts

NIGHT AND DAY...blammo...hits like a champ and vapes clouds!

I think the biggest culprit to the "loosing flavor" or "doesn't have flavor" is coils that are wound too tight on the wicks preventing enough juice to vaporize giving you flavor and the cloud

On serviceable heads...give it a go and see if you can loosen it up....
non-serviceable heads...well...dunno what you can do

Be GENTLE with the coils...but try to loosen up the wick under it

This is a youtube on rebuilding...don't need to go that far...BUT it shows you how to get to the coils/wick so you can give it a "tweak"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtS1xyoCME8

and from the video...could be an issue with the "flavor wick" hmmmmm

Sorry... Trying to type what my fiance telling me. Hit post by accident. He had same problem with ts3, he says take coil off, pull the stem from coil head, remove 1 flavor wick with tweezers, but dont touch coil. Make sure wick thats there is even/centered, put stem back in, and put back together. He says sounds like u arent wicking. Put juice in tank, put kanger back on, do a couple dry hits (without firing)... If u see bubbles, then its wicking. Let it sit about 10 mins and enjoy. Really hope it helps! :) good luck!

Thanks for the info WarHawk AVG!
The Kanger that I use has a small replaceable head that has the wick built inside it and I wouldn't know how to or if you can take it apart. Was told that when the wicks burn out, to swap the head out. But that was to no avail.

Thanks Melis
I'm not quite sure what you mean. Is there a "flow adjustment" on the bottom of the tank?

Again still learning. Thanks!

Socal... No worries, I dont know much either. As I said, my fiance has the same setup. He says the bottom of the tank has a removeable base... It just looks like one piece. Just pull off. You have 3 wicks, so remove one off w tweezers and follow steps above. He was frustrated w his tank at first too, bc everything tasted burnt. Once he did that, fixed the problem. He had found the video on utube. Try it, let us know how it goes!!

That's what I was thinking.
The combo of being hot here in so cal, a weekend of beer, bbq (2 days worth), and vaping really did me in.
I've really hit the water hard, (like 130 oz. a day, half your body weight), since Wednesday, I personally feel better, but the juices still taste burnt/metallic.

Try what WarHawk suggested. It's great advice.

I didn't pick up you were drinking last weekend. Your vapers tung should be gone by now. You were talking a weekend of beer and BBQ. I was wondering to myself "he had so much he doesn't realize it's only Saturday". lol

I've had a couple days or weeks like that. It eventually goes away. Sometimes just takes more time. Some say to just buy nicotine that is unflavored not to waste the good stuff, although I personally just vape the crappy stuff I don't like when I cannot taste. Of course I got a good dose of radiation back in April so I'm not sure if that affects it, but a lot of stuff tastes really metallic to me at times. So the contrast may have been what did it. Good luck. Vape on :)

I left a PV with cinnamon/menthol juice in 120 degree heat (my truck) for a couple of hours and it lost most of its flavor. Me being a little hot and dehydrated probably contributed to it as well, but something to think about.

I've let the offending PV cool off in the house for a bit and tried it back to back with another rig with juice from the same bottle set at the same wattage, and the juice that got hot is definitely diminished in flavor.

I'm sure it's written on here somewhere not to leave your stuff in a hot car, but I like to learn stuff the old fashioned way, by being stupid.

Thank you WarHawk. Definitely got me looking into rebuilding my wick-heads.
I have only been vaping full time since March but found that it's easy to scorch my tanks leaving them tasting tinny and burnt. This always seams to happen when I end up cooking the coil when my assembly is in my pocket. I'm a chain vaper and normally I have to clean my tanks every few days of normal use.
After taking apart the tank I'll rinse everything in hot water then dry with a tissue or dry wash cloth. I also wrap the wick head in tissue and squeeze it until the wick is dry then assemble the head on the base stem and attach it to my battery with out the rubber piece so i can see the coil. From here I'll cook the coil repeatedly until all the coil doesn't smoke anymore and I can see each coil wrap glow red. This is also good for inspecting the coil to see if I have a hot spot which usually means the coil is getting ready to die. Once the coil is clean I'll reassemble my tank and I'm good to go. There are some good youtube videos on how to wash and clean tanks. There is one that shows how to disassemble a CE4 disposable tank, but I haven't done it myself. It seemed like to much trouble for a disposable unit. If cleaning a tank doesn't take care of the tinny burnt taste then I toss out the bad coil and put on a new clean one. Be sure to let the wick get soaked before vaping otherwise the coil will get burnt before you even get started.

Burnt metallic taste means only one thing, you setup is not wicking well enough for some reason.

Then that's why some tanks don't seem as "Bad" as others?

What stumped me was that it was a brand new tank and it just started out of no where. So, I swapped the bottom of the tank, with another brand new tank and still the same thing after a hit or 2.

BTW - Nice profile pic. Love the Bolts and Pads!

Was thinking the same. I know contrast dries you out to...
But with as much water I've drank in the last few days, I would think I've flushed everything out, so who knows.

Thanks for the reply!
Vape on.
