vaping is hard. Not the actual vaping. But the care-and-feeding of the equipment. That's hard. Way harder than it should be. It should be easy.

1. Charge the battery. No more than once per day.

2. Keep the liquid topped up. I'm fine with the use of the eyedropper, but so many vape systems have that put-it-here-but-be-super-careful-not-to-put-it-DAMIT filling experiences. Why? Humans have visited other worlds and I have a supercomputer in my pocket. Surely we can figure out something better than this.

3. Replace your heating coil/wick assembly no more than once a week. Sure, okay. I'd be ok with disposable cartomizers as long as they weren't $20.

4. Wash out your tank, wick and heating element when changing flavors. I always feel like I'm doing surgery when I attempt it. I'm either going to lose a bit down the drain or I'm going to damage it so badly that it won't work right and I'll need a new one.

There are four vape systems in my house. Not one of them is as easy to care for as it should be. As former product manager at a technology company, I'd be pushing hard for some serious usability studies and design changes.

My kids showed me one that they both had which had magnetized, drop-in tanks which I thought was clever. I want to see more of those ideas.

Someone is going to see that the vaping experience is broken and, like Apple often does, they're going to fix it and revolutionize the industry.

I, for one, would love to have something that is as mindless as smoking was. Doubt that will ever happen but one can dream :)

I have what works for me and I have it as simplified as I can get it... for me. I don't flavor chase, single flavor all day every day, and have mastered the device I use.

I think it comes down to getting one device and learning it, completely. I only have to change wick and dry burn once a week.

Not everyone needs that simplicity. Some even need the challenge of the chase, fiddle factor and flavor switching.

I have a feeling, for you and I, we would welcome that simplistic system. :)

I think for some vapers, that may be fabulous, and if it helps them to get off the stinkies, I am all for it... but personally - it ain't really rocket surgery here, and I enjoy the hobby - but I am not an Apple guy, either (not hating, they engineer some great products) - I am perfectly willing to take responsibility for learning how to safely own, operate, and maintain my toys... to an extent, I think you are right - I believe at some point it will be dumbed down to be more effectively mainstreamed... I think, however, I will continue to go the hobbyist route :)

I enjoy the variability of DIY.

Another thought. The more convenient something is the more expensive it is. With vaping it would be disposable cartridges, etc. And less options for those who want to have something different.
BT wants it all standardized and no open tanks, etc.

I think what I am talking about when I think of simplicity, is just the ease. Yet something that works. A cig-a-like doesn't really work. Maybe it would for me now, now that I've gotten down to 5mg nic. I don't know. I just know that I just spent some time making a coil and  it looks horrible. It is not the first one I've made and I've made better ones. It is frustrating at times.

Maybe it is that three thing that is causing me to talk like this. You know.... 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months, 3 years. It is coming up on that three year mark, next month.

time to up the nic a bit  ;)

Ah well, we can dream.

They do seem to be moving more towards top fill tanks and have decent coils now for those who want to blisterpack it.
I don't mind the bottom fill. Premade coils....I may look into that. But what would I do with all this wire!?!?

Sorry, just in a weird place right now. LOL

for me, this is my Apple of vaping ... I use 5 of these exact same setups daily, all the same single coil build, just different flavours.

Takes me 5 mins to change a wick and refill ... heck, I used to spend more time stopping to buy cigarettes when I smoked.

As Robin said, once you have found what works and have it perfected ... vaping is pretty simple.

I see myself vaping these same devices, with these same tanks, 5-10 years from now ... no matter what comes out next.

Stop...You are ruining it for me! Those steps I never do....well I change coils every 10 days give or take. But that said, I never have worry if I sat on my cigs, if I smell like an ashtray....chicks dig that you know:facepalm: .....

I don't have to worry about the way my hair and clothes smell anymore. :)
And when I really want a piece of lemon pound cake, I can vape Ahlusions's Lemon Vanilla Cake. Saves me a lot of unwanted calories since I can't move around much and burn them off.:)

Thank you for putting it so eloquently, I have a hard time doing so, but that was my point.:D
I noticed I said the same thing you did .... after I posted

Ok...another one. I don't have to stop cruising ECF while I take a minute to have a cigarette. (did this while researching ECF for my first vape) ;)
