Another option would be metal cigarette cases:

eBay: aluminum cigarette case

Most look to be suitable for two 14500's and 14650's but a few have room for two 18650's.

edit-

Safest metal mod I've ever seen:

Seen that one last week and was thinking that would be good for me so I wouldnt have to
line up and drill a small hole to adjust the LM2596

That same seller has those coffin cases in different styles. I got one of these but havent modded it yet, not a lot of room to work with but might be able to fit a couple of 14500's in it.

510 connectors are strictly e-cig related and you're not going to find one off-the-shelf at any electrical vendor. MV, Good Prophets (used to not sure if still selling) and there used to be a seller on eBay are the only places I know of.

ETA:
eBay seller is no longer offering

Good Prophets are still selling

Any electrical suppliers offer 510 connectors? Someplace other than MV, not that I have a problem with them, I'd just like to get all my internals for a BigBlue30-style evercool VV mod (maybe with a Scubabatdan SMD touch switch) from a single source if possible.

Thanks in advance!

If you get yourself a 7mm x .5 tap you can make your own conns

I tapped a chunk of 1/4" copper busbar then sandwiched a piece of mylar between another piece of copper plate with a solder drop on it (so it made contact with the center post)...it didn't take long to strip the threads cause coppers so soft but it worked great and talk about a "low profile" atty con...if your goal is to make a complete wireless box mod that tap is the cats bum
