Hi Everyone,

Been doing a lot of reading here lately, and have gotten stuck to the point that I need to ask for guidance. After seeing all the great help y'all have given others, I know that someone out there can help me.

I have recently decided to make the switch from cigarettes to vaporizing. I recently found out that my mother has cancer, and that I have an elevated risk because of that. I don't want to give up nicotine because it is about the only thing that gets me through a work day, but I can certainly give up all of the other chemicals in cigarettes.

After much reading and research, I have decided that a KGO is going to be my first purchase. The problem I am having is that I can't decide where to purchase from... The three kits in contention are from Elite Vaporworks, Hoosier ECig, and Dark City Vapor. However I am open to other suggestions.

There are a few reasons I am having a hard time deciding. 1) of the different colors I have seen, the brushed steel/titanium are my favorite - available at Hoosier. 2) I plan on using 2.0 ohm cartomizers, or possibly clearomizers - the kits from elite and dark city come with cartos. 3) I plan on ordering some smaller size juices from other sites to try out a variety, but I also want to make sure I get some right away, but don't know if I want to get stuck with 36ml of juice that I don't like - elite comes with a big bottle

So if any of you gracious people out there could help me prioritize, and/or offer alternative places to shop that would be awesome. And please stick with the KGO or similar devices that are around 3.7v under load, I am not interested in VV or a box mod or epower or any other APV at this point in time.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. any suggestions on where I can find a nice selection of smaller bottles of juice at good prices with reasonable shipping for sampling would be great. MadVapes looks like they have some pretty good prices, but as a newcomer, I am open to suggestions.

I got a KGO starter kit from Virgin Vapors and have been very happy with it. Their kit is:

KGO/eGo Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit
$44.99

These kits are also super heavy duty, beautifully made and gorgeously packaged making them a wonderful gift! The KGO is basically the same as the eGo but it features an incredibly powerful battery that consistently gets rave reviews. These batteries are the best out there for length of life and powerful hit. Each kit also comes with a free 4 mL sampler bottle of Virgin Vapor e-liquid in your choice of flavor Please note, there are absolutely no substitutions on nicotine level or VG content as the samplers are all premixed.

Parts are compatible and interchangeable with the standard eGo, 510, and Riva model atomizers, cartridges, and batteries. However, it is recommended that you only use the charger that comes with these kits to recharge your KGO batteries. You can also use one of our Boge or Vision cartomizers with this kit in place of the atomizer/cartridge system for extra long, hassle free use!

Available in rubberized black, brushed stainless steel, white, burgundy, blue or pink enamel!

Includes:

2 x Atomizers
2 x 1100mAh Batteries
1 x USB Charger
1 x Wall Plug for USB
6 x Cartridges (empty and ready to be filled with Virgin Vapor e-liquid)
2 x Cones
1 x Instruction Manual
1 x Gift Box

All batteries come with 5-click protection to prevent accidental activation in your purse or pocket. Click the battery five times in quick succession to turn on or off.

I'd say go with Hoosier. They have a certified SLB kGo and that could be marginally better than other brands. He's tested his SLB kGos pretty well. You can see the vid on Youtube and on his site as well.

You're going to need more than 5 cartos anyway. Cartos are disposable. The finish of your kGo is forever, so get the finish you really want. Cartos are cheap. You can go to Crystalclearvaping and get one of their carto bundles. $20 gets you 3 boxes and a drip tip with free shipping.

If you're going to be doing a lot of juice testing, the atomizers Hoosier includes can be used to test juices before you commit a carto to a juice you might find you don't care for. With an atomizer, you can test multiple flavors quickly and easily.

The Hoosier kit also includes big bore cones, which will allow you to use them with clearomizers that are too fat to fit in regular cones.
Brent is a great vendor and stands by all his stuff.

BTW, the pre-filled cartridges that you get with any kit are junk. Toss them. Don't waste juice using them.

Dark city vapor kgo fan here.
Love their French vanilla cappecino ejuice. When you order kgo kit from dark city vapor they throw in sample juice + cartos. One stop shop.
BTW for battery colors, as women will always tell you " you can't go wrong with basic black and a string of pearls".
Good luck. Report back when you receive your setup

I wish I'd asked this before I bought mine. I was trying to save every penny I could out of necessity, and found a kit of two Riva's (ego/kgo clone) with no wall adapter since I had one for my cell phone I used to have, but came with 5 mega dual coil cartos. Thought it was a great deal since I was sure I'd love cartos, and was sure big ones would be great.

I ended up getting NO instructions
Both batts say Riva but one is a 3 click and 1 is a 5 click, so I figure one is probably at least older than the other even if they're the same other than that.
After getting the 15/20.00 boges at CCV and another pack of 5 mega dc cartos to go with the 5 in the kit, I started vaping and found out, I have real issues with the poly fil in the cartos and with the mouthpiece on the mega dc's.
I wish I'd gotten attys for dripping, but gave that up for the mega dc's since I didn't know how to drip an atty in the first place, and didn't think about a million videos out there to show me how.
Also I had no idea what slb meant, still don't, but have seen enough references to it that it appears to be important. lol

You've gotten great advice about what TO do, so I thought I'd toss some out there about what NOT to do. Good luck. Also realize that no matter what you go with or how much advice you get, at some point you'll end up making purchases you regret, it's all part of the live and learn process.

For juice, vapedudes.com will send you a free 10 ml bottle with a code from their facebook page. I can't remember it, but I'm sure someone will. It cost me a nickel to check out, so even the shipping was free. They'll also give you 40% off an order, so that's pretty good and the code for that is on their website. Vaporbomb.com has 5 mls most for 3.95/10 mls for 2.00 more and although I've just begun dealing with them, they seem to be amazing people who will make it right if there is a mistake. I now wish I'd gotten my first juices there.

Hi and welcome to ECF. Although I am a Dark City Vapor fan I recommend you get the brushed steel/titanium from Hoosier cuz, hopefully, you'll have it for a long time and that is your fave. Preferred cartos for the 3.7 Kgo are the 15 pack from Crystal Clear Vaping with free shipping.
Also use the Hoosier discount coupon code for 5% off:
5off
Good Luck.

I can't comment on the companies you mentioned, as I have yet to order from any of them. However, I will second what water4choc recommended in the starter kit from Virgin Vapors. I bought my first kGo kit from Annette back in February (and just got my second on Saturday.) That kit, some cartos, a drip tip, and a couple of sampler packs are all you need to get get started and have a wide variety of options and vaping styles to try out. Annette is very friendly, prompt, and has great quality products.

Good luck with the transition!

If Hoosier has the kind you want, I would go with them. I bought my kGo from them and am completely satisfied. I am mainly a catomizer guy, but it was nice that the kit came with 2 atomizers, as I had been interested in dripping to test flavors out. Turns out I like dripping.
Like sailorman said, though, toss the cartridges. I had one melt on me while I was vaping it. Ruined the whole atty. A good drip tip will do you fine, and you can get a free one when you order the bundle from Crystal Clear Vaping.

A word of caution about Hoosier, for some reason he puts his logo on the end of all his batteries he sells and no offense to Hoosier, but it is one ugly logo. That was the deciding factor when going with Dark City (plus they had the silver band, Hoosier had gold). The shipping was quick and you can upgrade your cartos for a few dollars more. I'm very satisfied with my DCV purchase and will buy from them again in the future.

I went with the KGO Vision Kit from Sweet-Vapes recommended by sailorman. I upgraded to two 1100 mah batteries, and ordered some extra Stardust clearomizers. It was reasonable and shipping was fast. Here is the link.

http://www.sweet-vapes.com/shop?pag...color_plus.tpl&product_id=1033&category_id=31

The only downside was that the Stardusts were V1 with short wicks. The site shows they have V2s with the long wicks in stock. The kit came with two batteries, a usb charger and cable, two clearomizers, and a case. It was a pretty good deal. No instructions were included, but it really didn't need any.

I'd go with tada's link above. I purchased my Stardust clearomizers separately and since receiving them I have not even touched a cartomizer except to try new juice flavors. Also, I have the short wick Stardusts and have no complaints, you just have to keep the wicks wet, not that big a deal. I wish I would have known about the link tada posted when I bought my KGO a few weeks ago. Good luck on your purchase!

+1 this is what I did. I carry the clearos with me more. The xl lr resurrector carto bundle is there when I want a different vape experience. The attys that come with the kit are ok for tasting but know that the juice will taste different in the clearos, cartos, & attu dripped. I like the clearos the best.

Thanks everybody for your advice and suggestions. I just ordered the titanium kit from Hoosiers (despite the kinda tacky logos). While there I also ordered a 5 pack of boge lr cartos and a 10ml bottle of gangsta's paradICE. Figured that was enough to get me started. Plus I will also be ordering a variety of 5-10ml juices and some more cartos and stuff here shortly. (Like later today) Planning on grabbing a variety of menthol, fruit, and butterscotch/caramel till I find out what I like. Thanks again everyone for your opinions and suggestions. I'll make sure to update when it all arrives.

Congrats on the buy. Just be very careful about first filling the cartomizers cuz if they are not fully saturated the filler burns and the taste is horrible and will not go away. Note in the vid below key when you push the carto down into the condom of juice do it VERY SLOWLY.
Good Luck.

I looked again and realized that it even comes with a case, that is a really good deal. The case is not very attractive and looks rather large, but I usually end up with a pocket full of unorganized clutter. I'd go for it and not look back

The case is the same size as a zipper eyeglasses case. I think it's the same thing as a eyeglasses case except with some bands and pockets to hold batteries and supplies. 6 inches long, 2.5 inches wide, 1.5 inches deep. It also fits my new 1000 mah ego twist which is longer than the kgo.

I ordered the vision KGO kit from sweet vapes for my husband since he wanted to start vaping but didn't want to mess around with dripping or topping off cartomizers all the time. He's really happy with it.
