Where to get Authentic Sony Batteries? Just got a new IPV3 and I want 2 pairs of bats to avoid vaping downtime.

I was using a VAMO V2 for a longggggggg Time long enough that the thing was extremely beat up and I'm amazed its still working ( I say working loosely )..

I recently got a IPV3 for Christmas which is something I really wanted and I love this thing! ( Although the non functional touch sensor, screws for the cover and not magnets and no charging port is a bummer ).

Right now I'm using 2 x Purple Efest 18650 35A 2500mAh batteries (from eciggity). Which I have read are only 20amp really? Should I replace these with better batteries?

And my main question is Where can I get authentic Sony VTC5 batteries? I assume those are my best bet to get right? There are plenty of places claiming to sell them but I hear there are a lot of fakes out there and I'm a little worried about that considering I'm using a IPV3 now which can actually draw a lot of amps.

I would like to have 2 sets of batteries so I can always have 2 in my device and 2 charged up ready to swap in.

Thanks!

VTC5's are history! Might as well look for the holy grail. My opinion only, but this from reading all the battery post here and on other sites. There are some very good batteries available, just do some research to learn which ones are good for the type of use you will be doing.

Check ohm's law, a 0.3 ohm coil at 100 watts = 18.26 amps. not much of a safety factor for a 20 A battery but better with a 25A.

Hmm So VTC5's are gone huh.. Dang.. Well I really don't know what batteries to buy then.. Are there even any 18650 30a+ continuous batteries out there anymore?

I guess I'm going to go with the Samsung 25r batteries.

Thanks I didn't realize the Sony batteries were discontinued. I have not really been paying attention to the happening in the vape community lately.

To my knowledge there are no other 30 amp or higher batteries than the Sony vtc-series (which are sold rewrapped by some sellers, such as the purple efest 2100 mAh and the Orbtronics x30 (30x?) I believe). The various batteries sold as 35+ amps are all actually 20 amps or lower. From what I've read the IPV should be ok with 20 amp batteries though, so something like the Samsung 25r or the LG he2 (and purple efest 2500 mAh) should be good.

The IPV3 at 150 watts will draw pretty close to 30 amps per battery when battery charge is low. I would replace those batteries :)

AFAIK there are no authentic VTC5 on the market right now. There are though VTC4 at 2100 mAh which is pretty good. Illumination Supply have some for $8.50 a pop in stock. They claim they have a limited supply.

Do the stacked batteries in the iPv really give longer life? I thought stacks kept the same maH as a single and doubled the voltage? 100watts @ 0.5ohms should draw 14amps and 7 volts from those Efest's which seems fairly safe to me.

I thought the IPV3 went up to 150 watts but I could be wrong :)

On the mAh and voltage, you're doing a battery calculation with no electronics involved. So, Ohm's and Watt's law combined with inputs of 0.5 ohms and 100 watts calculates to 14.14A and 7.07V as you said.

The problem is that the batteries don't output 7V and PV voltage regulation has loss in it.

Go to the Battery drain page in Steam Engine and input 'Regulated PV', 'Power regulation', 100 watts, 'APV efficiency' of 85% (to be on the safe side) and 'Battery voltage' of 6v for an almost discharged pair of batteries. You get a battery drain of 19.61 amps each. Atty resistance doesn't matter, as watts are set.

Change to 150 watts and you get 29.4A battery draw. That was why I said 30A batts were required.

The thing with stacking batteries is that though battery pack mAh does not increase, the volts do and that reduces battery amp draw at a given wattage which allows the batts to last longer per charge.

I ordered 4 of the Samsung 25r batteries hopefully they will be ok. The are not 30a continuous but I would hope they can pulse 30a safely. I mean I take short drags and I have not really went to 150w yet. I haven't actually went over 50 yet lol
It's never a good idea to exceed to continuous discharge rating of batteries. Then again, it's difficult to find 30a batteries. Personally, I'd limit myself to 100w in order to not exceed the limit of the Samsungs.
