I don't know enough about batteries to have a preference in brands. I only know the big "household names" like Sony and Panasonic. But I'd like to get four 18650's. What brand would you recommend and what supplier is known to sell only genuine batteries. I care more about not getting a cheap clone than a particular brand. Whatever brand you suggest is fine.

Thank you for your suggestions!

Thank you Ryedan and Rossum!

I don't have the device yet. I approach things very systematically. I've collected some RBA's and tools for building. Doing research on mods. I think I've narrowed it down to the Sigelei 100 w Plus which will be out in a few weeks.

You're welcome BLUwazoo :). I have the feeling you already know this, but just in case, keep in mind you need to have battery maximum amp discharge capability that will handle device max amp draw.

Best of luck with the new mod :thumb:

Thank you for the reminder! Since I'm looking at a device that uses dual 18650's, I assume that this wouldn't be concern, right?

For the Sigelei 100 watt, all the suppliers I've seen say 30 amp batteries are required. Right now I think the only 30A batteries available are Sony VTC4's. The Orbtronic branded SX30 or Sony branded VTC4 at RTD Vapor.

amp limits matter in alot of these regulated box mods from china because they are not running them in parallel and stepping up the voltage, they run the batteries in series and step down the voltage because it is more efficient for battery life although IMO not as safe as a parallel design but oh well they still do what they claim to do and that is all that is important lol

And no, my previous comment does not imply I am not concerned about safety which, at all times, is in the hands of the user...literally lol

Oh and on the terms of safety with these boxes in series, I suggest making "married" couples of batteries, they charge together, they go in together and they get marked A and B so they can be rotated in their position in the box itself with every reinsert (unless the company is nice enough to include a charging port which for some reason some do not have that, ugh, stupid china lol)

It's cheaper to build an efficient buck converter than an efficient boost/buck converter. It's also easier to run the batteries down to lower cell voltages when you still have well over 5V to work with when the batteries fully discharged, which also gives the appearance of better battery life.

interesting... i have thought of getting a dual 18650 box mod...never thought of rotating the "insertion side". guess you really are never to old to learn a new trick.... good job.
