I may be late on this but I myself was looking for some and a quick place I found was called moutainoakvapors. They have mesh, resistance wire, and silica wick (if your so inclined). I am probably gonna order from them, I assume they have the stuff thats being used and is at least appropriate for our applications. If you want to get more complex with it I am sure there are many places to find different grades (I don't know which grade other than stainless steel). For example, the standard resistance wire being used seems to be the Kenthal brand wire, there are many places to find this that aren't specifically ecig places. ya feel me on this?

Hi Guys, I found some mesh at a decent price here: OKC Vapes - Oklahoma's Premier Supplier of Electronic Cigarettes, E-Liquid, and Accessories!

I'm new at this and just ordered my first RBA from MOV. I ordered extra wire and mesh from OKC (above).

Being new at this, I have a question... I read in the "wick materials-safe vs dangerous" threads that some SS mesh is made with a nylon core, and to obviously steer clear of it. SS mesh comes with the Genesis I ordered from MOV, and I ordered replacement mesh from OKC. Are both of these vendors using 100% pure SS mesh? How would I even tell if mesh had a nylon core?

It was explained to me that the mesh size depends on the PG/VG content of you juice.
(Rough ratios)
250-- 100-50/50 higher VG
325-- 70/30-60/40 PG/VG
400-- 100-80/20 higher PG

I have only tried 325 since I use 70/30 & 60/40 and it works for me. YMMV.
Viscosty doesn't matter and 325 will not wick better than 400 or 500.

comparing oranges to oranges
PG will rise higher in a 400 mesh than on a 325 mesh.
Vg will rise higher in a 400 mesh than on a 325 mesh.
On the same 400 wick PG will rise higher than VG because of cohesion forces, but it will not rise higher on 325 than on 400,
All will rise higher and faster on #500

I have order from them a few times and they always ship fast.

It looks like The Mesh Company stopped giving an equal free sheet with each order of #400 & #500
If you order #400 or #500 the free sheet will be #200-300 mesh
They also raised their prices when they discovered that vapers were buying it
Damn Vapers, they ruin everything
I'm tired of it

Well this is a short list...

Wish more ppl would post links with additional info on that sorce

Oh well can't wait guess I will use grainger

I get mine from Grainger, I like there prices and the quality. I have to order it but I am close to the store, so I use "will call" and save on the shipping.

Another source of the actual manufacturer that sells this mesh to mcmaster and grainger, which seem to be the 2 most obvious choices that epeople are throwing out there -

Custom Wire Cloth - Belleville Wire Cloth Co - Cedar Grove, NJ

They specialize in the manufacturing of fine wire mesh - made in the USA. Looks like they have the 400 and 500 mesh as needed in just about any alloy - worth a looksie.

I don't know if anyone has posted this already, but here goes:

I'm impatient, and unfortunately no stores in my area carry SS mesh, so I started doing what any fiend would, Dig around the house!

I found a similar SS mesh in my coffee filter, so I read up on them, they're medical grade SS mesh. You get enough to make about 4 or 5 (depends on your roll and length) out of one coffee filter and they're about $5.

So, if you find yourself wanting to try a SS mesh without having to order $20 worth of it, give it a try. I had to heat and quench about 5 times to get the oxidation right.

Cheers!

Okay, so the coffee filter may not be so great, undesirable results with my AGA-T, wicks too much and tastes weird. I just ordered some off ebay: WOVEN WIRE MESH STAINLESS STEEL 400 MESH 12"X12" FILTRATION | eBay

They're located in Upstate NY, about 45 mins from me, but they won't let me pick up.

I offered $12 and they took it, so, 12"x12" for $12 shipped isn't so bad I think.

That's exactly what I use, and I highly recommend it- I go for the 316 L, which is just a bit easier to roll, but yeah, any 316 Twill weave 400# mesh is excellent. The 304 grade is probably ok too, but if you can afford it, the 316 is higher quality steel.

I'd suggest the 316, rather than 316L. 316L has half the carbon content of 316; and it's the carbon that provides the oxidation layer.
