I used to have my laptop folding when I was using windows. Now I'm using Ubuntu and have yet to try and set it up lol. I want to build a PC when Haswell comes out and have it running 24/7 folding :)

Your Haswell can come and join this Hasbeen on Folding any day. :)

Still have a while until haswell is released though. Gives me plenty of time to save :)

I have like 75k points currently haha. Pathetic

Ah! but that would have been 75K less points that we would have had as a team, if you were not part of it. :)

I've got f@h up and running on my laptop now. It's only got a core i5 (not sandy bridge) at 2.53GHz so not much of a powerhouse. I fried my ATI gpu about for months ago when I plugged in an hdmi cord or else I would be using gpu. :(

Keep an eye on those core temperatures. Laptops are not meant to be on ALL the time. ;)

Core temps are fine. I ran f@h for weeks straight before this with no problems. I keep the heat pipes and radiator clean of dust. Auto shutoff at 100°C which I don't ever get close to. Laptops can run 24/7 as long as there is adequate air flow. Currently, I haven't shut down my laptop in about a week and a half :p

100°C is a very dangerous temperature, and you will probably start to experience issues either before or after any kind of sustained use at those temps. Ideal conditions would be under the 60 - 70°C range.

The Tcase for the Core i5 is 72.7 Celsius, so dusty's advice is solid. You should have your shutdown temp set to somewhere less than the Tcase temp.

Also, you can't do GPU folding in Linux unless you run the F@H client in Wine. I attempted it a few times on my Ubuntu box w/ nvidia gpu, and honestly it was too much of a pain in the ... trying to get the cuda drivers working properly.
