He either believes he is God or the someone or something is after him.

His X and kids sill live in Illinois. The kids are scared to death of him--haven't seen him for ages.
That sounds more like schizophrenia than bi-polar disease. Either way, it's a sad waste of a life.

the one i know does not want to take medication thinking the doctors have been paid to poison her
A lot of psychiatric drugs are so draining that people stop taking them because they'd rather be untreated than feel like the don't have the energy to move.

Happy Sunday everyone.

Today's project is buying a new can of air. I hooked up the DVD player yesterday (after figuring out that I should use both red/green/blue and red/yellow/white cables -- without the yellow.) The picture is really sharp and nice but all it says is that it can't play this disc. I've been using my computer for DVDs since I moved the TV after tossing the couch so I'm hoping it's just dust. (If not, wow, DVD players are cheap!)

I dumped my tapes when my VCR failed. I have a couple of family that I need to get transferred but the others weren't needed.

If I do buy a new one, this (minor) tsouris was for naught as I will make sure it has an HDMI connection. Those cost under $50 for a name brand like Sony or Toshiba. I could go to $75 and get Blu-Ray but I don't need it yet and, by the time I'm ready to upgrade from regular DVDs, Blu-Ray will either be semi-obsolete or the players will cost $20.

I could also just translate all my DVDs to MP4 format and stick them on an external hard drive. The UBS on the TV will play them. But the idea of doing the complete Monty Python, among other things, is scary. (And you lose some extras like subtitles.)

I hate the new DVD and tape players. They don't have their own tuner which is why they are so cheap.

Since I have no intention of ever getting rid of my tapes, I started picking up some older VCRs so when I can't tape everything on the DVR, I can use them.
It's already getting harder to find a TV with the analog inputs necessary for a VCR player. By the time you buy your next TV they may not be available. If you really want to keep the videos, you should look into translating them:
