Have you considered the Kanger E-Smart clearo? The people who use them do seem to like them a lot. Small at, I think, 1.6 ml capacity but 510 threaded - not eGo. Example here: Kanger E-Smart Clearomizer - Clear [esmart-coil-clear] - $1.99

Thanks for the suggestion!

It's not ideal for what I'm looking for (maybe nothing is?). The issues I have with it are:
While it's certainly appropriately short (which I like) but it's also quite thin (not sure how it'd look on an ego batt or an even fatter Aro Winder). I'd prefer something that has replaceable coils (not a deal breaker but it'd be nice). It looks a lot like a CE4/Stardust which IMO isn't the best looking unit in the world. And even though I neglected to mention it in my OP, I'd prefer a lower resistance (1.5-1.8 Ohm), though I generally do use VV batts so also not a deal breaker.

I'll probably pick one up with my next order though to try.

Keep the suggestions coming!

Aerotank Mini or Mini Protank 3 (MPT3) with mini airflow control 2.0. It is nice to have the ability to control the air flow.

Bought the MPT3 for my Wife, I was impressed with the airflow on my Vamo v5 (I am a lung hitter). She didn't like it, said it was too loose (she is mouth to throat hitter).

Put her juice into my Aerotank Mega, she set the airflow to half and loves it. Now I have to buy the airflow control for hers so I can get my Mega back.

In addition to that, the MPT3 has dual coils with the silicone cap and wicks exposed. You can rebuild it as a single coil with 7-8 wraps (3mm) or 12 wraps (2mm) of 28 gauge Kanthal wire to get 1.8 ohms, then wick with cotton ball or yarn (Sugar 'N Cream).

You can get the MPT3 and the Airflow control 2.0 for about $15-20 shipped from somewhere like Discountvapers.

The original Evod is a good choice, you won't regret it (IMO). They are a tough, easy to maintain, lightweight and simple tank. The best thing about Kanger single coils is how easy they are to rebuild. The difference between a stock coil and a rebuilt with Kanthal wire and cotton wick is night and day in flavor and vapor production.

After being briefly fooled by Jenny McCarthy on how great Blu's are, I bought an Evod kit. They were awesome but I eventually moved on to bigger mods and pif'd them to friends. I have an Aqua clone, Squape clone, two Kayfun clones, RSST, Aerotank, Protank 2, Mini Protank 2, Hypertank and four drippers. After all those, what were the last two clearos I bought? A pair of Evods. I just love how easy and "pocketable" they are.

I ended up not going with this one but thank you for the suggestion. (The lack of ego threading made me hesitant as I've found ego threading makes things more pocket friendly).

For on the go, I use EVOD GLASS. I have 4 of them and they work great.
I did order a couple more of these, and coils, and rebuilding supplies.

Have you tried carto tanks? Various sizes avail. I use the ones from Ibtanked. All My Kangers, and other clearos have been collecting dust ever since (for about the last 6 or so months)
Last time I tried carto tanks was years ago and I never could get them to work well. Either the holes were too small/large, the o-ring seals were leaky, or just the refill hassles. Like back when I first started vaping and we all were trying different carto fillers, my experience has been MUCH better since getting away from cartos.

Kanger Mini ProTank 3 - (Single Unit)
I ordered a couple of the Aerotank Mini's to try! I think I'm going to really like them as long as they vape well (and I ordered some coil rebuilding supplies so I should be able to get them just the way I like them. Especially considering I tend to use vv/vw devices and have on-the-go adjustability).

Kanger Aerotank Mega Airflow Control Valve
The Aerotank's I ordered have airflow control built in. Personally I prefer a tighter draw but I can lung hit or mouth-to-lung depending upon the device.

Get something with glass/pyrex. I prefer something with a shield over it. I dropped a PT2 taking it out of the box and cracked the glass.
I agree with the glass comment since I've had cracking CE's. I don't all-day-vape harsh juices but I do love them occassionally.

Avoid metal tips unless it is replaceable. You may or may not develop a sensitivity to the metal.
I hear you! I have a couple metal drip tips and even though I LOVE the size/shape of my shortys, I HATE metal tips!

Top coils are getting harder to find but don't leak from altitude or temp changes.
Altitude and/or temp changes aren't a real issue for me, and I like the warmth of top coils, but I've found that a well designed BC can be just as satisfying.

I did order a few more EVODs last night (plus some EVOD Glass, Aerotank Minis, and coil building supplies)! If I can learn to master recoiling EVODs (and it doesn't look that hard) then I think I'll be set for pocket friendliness!

Thanks all for the help!

FWIW, I love my mini PT2, and I think it hits most of your markers except being a little fiddly to fill without a needletip (doable, but stuff is small in there) and being clear... but you could always wrap the pyrex tube with something (tape, contact vinyl, I dunno...) and just leave yourself a 'window' to monitor juice levels. The drip tip is removable, but I've never had it just come off. Good luck finding something you like! :vapor:

The best pocketable clearo for me remains the Kanger T2. It's easier to refill than the Vivi Nova, heads are cheap and easy to change, even if the tank is half full, and is sturdy in rough use. I get better flavor than bottom coil units I've tried, and the 2.2 ohm coils give good vapor production while being easy on batteries. It's not the sexiest clearo, but looks pretty good with the available aluminum mouthpiece.

Good luck finding your new favorite!
