V2 cigalikes w/ prefilled cartomizers got me off cigarettes. Almost immediately moved to clearos and juice. Now I'm loving my eGo twist w/ Protank mini, which I'd suggest for your mom. Unless she's totally resistant to anything that doesn't look and feel like a cigarette, eGos plus tank is the best into to vaping, IMO. If she is resistant, consider starting her out with a good cigalike. Whatever's going to work for HER!

Good luck!

I attempted a few years back with a 510 starter kit and the batteries sucked so I went back to the bad habit. 2nd time around was with 300 mah vortex batteries. having 3 around did the trick..usually. after losing them I went back..again. lol

Been using eGos twists, etc. and protanks and the combo works fantastic! I want to get an MVP because its battery life might do the all day trick.

Blu Premium 100s got me in the door. Now, they sit in my drawer making a nice last resort backup. They are 510, so a LR Carto or two and a couple charged premium100 sticks could get me through a day if I had to do it.

But what really made me just not even be interested in cigs, was gtetting a VV/VW Mod, and a couple different delivery devices. Evods are really awesome in my book. I love them to death, and they're currently my main vape. ANd I also switch between Cartos, Attys, DCTs and Regular Carto Tanks. All good, all different.

But, its the juice. Yes, the VV/VW mod is important. A good delivery system is important(I really like the Evods). Making sure always to have charged batteries ready to go is important.

But if I didnt already have a stash of 30+ different juices to choose from, idk that I would be as disgusted with cigs as I am right now. I mean right now, Im vaping, Buttersctoch, Cookie Milkshake, Ecto Cooler and Blue berry. Whatever I want, I just screw on.

The pack of Marlboro Menthol sitting on my desk has 19 left and Its over a week old. Why would I want to lick burned ashtray when I could vape delicious butterscotch?

it wasnt till i got a mechaniccal mod with an rsst and also a nimbus dripping atty that i never will pick up analogs again. i smoked 2.5 packs/day so i guess i needed to match it with extreme vaping.

Dude same with me! I was a heavy chain smoker. I actually just got a silver bullet today and an igo l and its so extreme i love it and if anything is going to keep me off analogs now its gonna be this setup. I also intend to get a genny atty and some carto tanks but this silver bullet hits like a freakin freight train! Especially with a dripping rba, ive never been this lightheaded and satisfied with a vape before. The ego twists i had with clearos just didnt do it for me. But if u do get her a twist get her some 510 or 306 attys and teach her how to drip cuz she might get more satisfaction from dripping.

Here's what I started with! 510 sticks + cartomizers. Lotsa batteries, little carrying cases, PCC, etc. I liked em enough to just stop smoking - even though I wasn't even really PLANNING to quit smoking! But now I'm puffin on a big ole SVD, with Ego's for the road.

I'd probably go with the Ego/Evod recommendation that seems common here. You have to decide if a VV/VW device will be a turnoff to Gramma - no adjustments needed on a Marlboro you know...

The Halo stuff is pretty, well packaged, simple - but it's not "interchangeable" with all the other devices.

Then again, since everything's right there, you might even get her using "The Google" to look at or order more parts!

...(she's 43 and calls the internet "the google").

 Oh, that's funny. No offense but it made me laugh.

I would have to say the Joye 510 got me off cigarettes. First attempt didn't take however and I went back to smoking. But after making up my mind I went back to the 510 and stuck with it. Now I'm using VV batts with EVODs and T2s.

Maybe you could sit down with your mom on "the google" :p and show her some pictures of the options available? As others have said though, an eGo type battery with an EVOD would be a decent starting point.

I would start with 1) a pair of high capacity ego vv batteries, 2) a kanger protank mini (way better than the protank, especially on ego-type batteries), 3) some extra heads and 4) consult with her and order some juices she might like.

If she sticks with it, get her an innokin mvp 2.0 for Xmas!

    Good luck.

"the google".........too damn funny for words. Google (the company) would be tickled pink to know.

Blu Cigs got me off ciggies (God BLESS Blu-Cigs), and egos sealed the deal completely just a short time later. (I did a TON of research on 'the google' before jumping up to egos, tho). I still buy Blu-Cig Vivid Vanilla pre-filled cartos to have around.

Knowing several 'low-tech' types myself, I highly, highly recommend a couple of egos, a decent charger, and pre-filled cartos (in a flavor your mom likes, which can take a little hunting for, btw) to get started. Tanks and clearos are a little more to mess with, but could also work well. Pre-filled cartos are, by far, the easiest to start with. If you're a great kid, buy a bunch of sample flavors for her to try out. Once you find a flavor or three, later on you can buy the juice and pre-fill a bunch of cartos [or clearos, or tanks] at a time FOR her, to save some $$$.

If she takes to the egos and pre-filled cartos, then she can go wild on all different kinds of 'juice holders' (tanks, cartos, clearos, etc.), batteries, and other fun stuff. One step at a time. (One small step for Mom, one giant leap for her health.....).

    Good luck with this!!

Another point for egos! Seems like a lot of people start with a cigalike and jump to the ego to really get things going. I've been scouring 'the google' for info about them, and they seem like good little machines. I think I'm going to buy a starter kit for her with some juice samples. The prefilled cartos are the way to start though? Just attach them and vape? I've never used one!

And yes, she's so sadly technologically impaired for someone so young! It's endearing though ;) She makes me feel useful lol

Thanks for taking the time to reply :) I appreciate it!

I'd get here an ego kit with disposable clearomizers to try it with, if she likes it and goes to vaping, you can get a couple of mini protanks for her later. under 100.00 for the kit and a few clearos, and a couple of juices for her to try, and the batteries will be btoht ego and 510 threaded so, lots of stuff will work on them later. It's inexpensive, easy and all she needs to know is how to fill, charge and push the button.

Ego and carto for me, in the end.

But actually stopping smoking took 6wks. I freaked when I went down to 1 smoke the first few days, and actually I guess couldn't believe.

I went back to 6 aday, it was mentally comforting to do so. I allowed myself the morning, nite, after meal cigs. I slowly took all of them away, except the bedtime ones. Couldn't trust getting thru the nite w/o them.

Once I was able to get thru the nite, and not have the morning one, it was all over.

Until I started vaping I was the same way with quitting! Weird, right? For a while I was on chantix, and it totally worked (no cravings whatsoever), but a part of me really, really didn't want to give it up so I continued to smoke a few cigs a day while I was on chantix, and (shockingly) wasn't able to give up the habit. It's so habitual! Even without the nicotine I felt like my whole routine was being uprooted and I wasn't ready to develop new ones.

    rounding third and heading home...
I'm thinking of getting an e-cig for my mom (she's been curious about trying it for a while), and want to know your guys' opinions on what might be appropriate. My first (and only) device is a provari mini, so I don't really know what else is out there. I would get her one too, but quite frankly I don't feel like dropping $200.00 on something she might not even like or know how to use!
She smokes at least a pack a day, and is not very technologically inclined (she's 43 and calls the internet "the google"). Any suggestions for a simple, satisfying, yet somewhat cost efficient set up? What worked for you and why?

my child, a new provari would be fine. didn't know I had a ecf membership and a new "google" name did you? pm me for my new mailing address where you can send my provari- such a great kid, mom

eGo is a small ecig to us in comparison to our normal vape, but it's huge compared to a paper tube cigarette. While she might not be satisfied with a cig sized ecig, it will feel more normal. I think the eGo is a good choice, but get ready for objections to look and feel.

Some people adapt and others can't get over the size and appearance of a "good" ecig. Explain to her why an eGo is a good start by pointing out the charge life and the ability to deliver power to the coil. You might have to start her out with a Blu and let her complain about battery life and experience the difference herself when you give her the better choice with 6-10 hours of vaping on a charge.

Cost is more that way, but we all have to go through the process to appreciate the difference.
