I'm thinking of getting an e-cig for my mom (she's been curious about trying it for a while), and want to know your guys' opinions on what might be appropriate. My first (and only) device is a provari mini, so I don't really know what else is out there. I would get her one too, but quite frankly I don't feel like dropping $200.00 on something she might not even like or know how to use!
She smokes at least a pack a day, and is not very technologically inclined (she's 43 and calls the internet "the google"). Any suggestions for a simple, satisfying, yet somewhat cost efficient set up? What worked for you and why?

Ego battery (VV) and a clearomizer (or an Evod) should do the trick! (It did for me. :))

It's powerful enough to give a good billowing vapor cloud, EZ to fill, recharges EZ and is cheap enough to find out if it will be effective if the nic level is high enough to satisfy.

+1
Definitely an eGo battery and and EVOD or even a Protank. Cigalikes didnt work for me and I quit when I switched to using eGo batteries and clearos. I still use them now even with all of the mods I have.

I would get her 2 ego twist vv batteries, a kanger protank and some e liquid.

It'll set you back around $100 but it'll be the best money you ever spent if you can get a loved one off of cigs.

That's what did it for me. But I soon upgraded to a Sigelei VMAX AND a GP Paps SS 2.5

For me, it was more technique than device. At first, I tried vaping like I smoked. Short, hard draw and immediate deep inhale. Ok, it was different but not there.

Nothing really did it until I found this place and figured out that I was doing it wrong.

Whatever you get her, as long as it's eGo or better, make sure you coach her on how to use it. Oh, and get some juice she'll like, too. If there's a B&M joint in your area that does try before you buy on juices, all the better.

Seems like Ego is the overwhelming consensus! I've heard good things about Vamos too, but I'm worried that the look and function of a vamo might be intimidating for her. I've only seen photos of the vamo, but it looks similar in size/shape to a provari. The egos look a bit more sleek and portable (and yes, I think this will be important as a first impression for her).
Either way, I was thinking about getting a vamo or an ego as a backup, so whichever one I get her I suppose I can try it out before I get one myself lol

That's a really good point! I remember trying to take a pull from the provari like I would a cigarette and it just.. didn't work. I'll make sure to point that out. Speaking of analogues: I found a cigarette in my purse last week and decided to smoke it today out of curiosity, and found it totally disgusting! Wow. I suppose I'm converted ;)

A Halo G6 starter kit got me off tobacco.

I've added several parts to it and I'll probably upgrade to a different system later on, but it was a good start and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to someone who wants a cigarette-sized device.

I actually don't know a lot about the Halo. I did a quick google search, and I think the size/shape of the Halo would be more appealing to my mom, so I'll have to check it out! How long have you had yours?
