Which Howards?

So i have searched, and i havent been able to narrow down which one to get for a cocobolo/maple woodvil.


Gonna be a new owner soon thanks to @ENAUD and just want to take the best care i can.


Are these the same product?

Lots of folks use the Sun Shield; especially those who are outdoors a lot with their Woodvils.
Personally, mine don't go out a lot, at least not for extended periods. Plus, I got my Howard's locally, and I couldn't find the Sun Shield. I use the Howard's Feed N Wax on the exteriors, and just mineral oil on the insides.

If the Sun shield was used previously, is it ok to use the feed and wax? What about there orange or lemon oil wood cleaner, anyone use those or not needed?

Yes, you could still use the Feed N Wax. I've never used the cleaner. I just use the Feed N Wax every 2 or 3 months. You don't want to overdo the waxing.

Lemon oil should work nicely wherever the wood is thirsty enough to absorb it. It may be the perfect conditioner although you will smell the lemon aroma for a while.

Howard's Feed N Wax also has a slight citrus smell.
People claim that Tung oil is also very good, but has a strong aroma. I have never tried it, so I don't know.

Howard's SunShield has orange oil, beeswax, and carnauba wax with UV protection. The orange oil will clean off the old wax and penetrate the wood with each use. Then the beeswax and carnauba wax protect. The Cocobolo wood will darken with age and exposure to sunlight. This wax will offer you the protection against the darkening. I know, I use it on all of my wood REO's.
