Which is better Trial and Error or Direction?

So here is my question...Is it better to vape with life/vape experience of trial and error OR should I have had a lot more direction? The reason for this question is because I have a bunch of friends I'm turning to this method and so far with my crazy flare all of them have been successful. Now this is VERY long winded to prove the point in my last month and a half. Here is what I went through...

When I purchased my starter kit I got an EVOD set. I was rather ticked off a couple days later when I found the same kit for $20 less expensive and then a couple days later found it for $50 less. Because I didn't know enough about vaping I didn't know the importanance of looking online (which I hate ordering things online) to price compare and I was so ticked.

That being said I was determined to get the $80 worth of use out my setup that I felt I foolishly purchased. My husband and I had both found that with the EVOD's that we still needed a cigarette in the morning. We didn't know the juice strength and flavor was a huge factor. Our only experience was failure which smoking everywhere cigalikes. Should have known how important it was as we couldn't make them work as the menthol flavor was "wrong" for us.

So the original goal was "we shall use these evods, we will "ration" out the remaining cigarettes we have (from a 1-1.5 pack a day each) to Vape as much as we want and only 10 cigarettes a day. The next day only 8, then 6, then 4, then 2, then we are out. My husband gave up the cigarettes I think at the 4 only a day, however since I'm not into waste I smoked them instead LOL.

By the end of the week the EVOD was not enough for the husband, soooooooo we went to a different B&M and got him a nautilus and a VV and he was happy. I got both the EVOD batteries and tanks (remember not into waste). By the end of week two I was pushing soooooo hard to keep the evods charged and used and NO Cigarettes. Yeah...it was getting REALLY hard....So I went and got an MVP 2 shine. Had to get the green with the crystal butterfly on it as they didn't have any other ones. FELL IN LOVE with my MVP! When I I thought "this is great! BUT yet again, I found a new a B&M and found that again I could have paid MUCH MUCH LESS for an MVP 2 in non girly colors...again ticked...again feeling like I ...... away money.

Ok so now we have our happy place with our setups...not the price (grrrrrrrrrr). Now...how to find juice that makes us super happy. So we started looking at the box mailing kits to be "exposed" to different vendors. Vapebox vs Zamplebox and so on. Hubby said he liked the idea of the Vapebox enthusist to get the accessories to start trying RDAs. So we requested an invite...were fortunate enough (from what I've read online) to get our invite within a week and we were setup. I found I liked 2 out of my 5 flavors we received. My husband claimed the plumeveil clone and drip tip that came in his kit as his own lol. SO THEN we went and purchased him a panzer clone, batteries, charger, coil, and learned how to wrap his coils.

Now me...I was running with the evod tanks, I purchased an aerotank mini, and the tank that came with the MVP 2.0. So since hubby was going with the RDA I decided to go with a RBA Kayfun 3 clone. All I can say...leaky leaky leaky leaky. Work has been nuts lately so I can't really carry around a leaky tank therefore I haven't given it the full attention to master the tank.

hen I went to another B&M and was shown the istick. I kinda fell in love right away. I did my research and found that the B&M store (selling it for $80) was really really really overpriced as I found the istick online for $35 with free shipping. Took a chance and ordered it online.

Ever since then I've been playing the internet reviewing and youtubes and we are still blown away on everything out there. SO MANY CHOICES. Along the way I signed up for a couple giveaways here and there. And what do you know...I fllippin won one (THANK YOU JWRAPS!!!!). COULD NOT BELIEVE IT! Did a little dance of joy and then looked up what I won. A Coolfire 1. So internet here I come. Found out not too many great reviews but ya know what...didn't care it was something new to play with...was going to keep the husband's hands off of it...it was mine, MINE I TELL YA!!!

Then the istick came. Was HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY that it came a day early. I put my tank on it and.........FELL in love! Then snatched my husbands nautilus to try his juice on it and could not believe the difference of this setup versus anything else we ever tried. That was it...I FOUND MY GO TO SETUP...heard the internal soundtrack of angels singing HALLELUJAH...it was wonderful....it was heaven...it was my vaping dream. I was soooooo very happy, until I found I could now fully taste all the juices and they didn't taste the same...now I must find a new ADV. So phooey...but still very happy...

A couple days later I have mail...and I'm like a kid at Christmas...I run inside rip open the box and find a...............grenade? Yup somehow that Coolfire 1 magically turned into a Coolfire 2. Now I'm SUPER excited...the husband now shows interest and I turn into Gollum and this is now my precious. My husband is looking on as I'm super excited and getting ready to go to the store to get batteries. But sadly...the STORE is CLOSED! NOOOOOOooooOOOOOoooooOOOOOOOO. Well phooey again lol. I fell asleep and ran out the next morning and I have a new edition to my vaping collections.

I have found that I haven't saved any money in our quest to find our happy setups (btw getting another istick for the hubby). I can't blame any of these B&M sales teams that don't know us or know what we like to give up perfection at the first go. We had to find what worked for us.

My evods have now become my go to LIF (loan it forward lol) as I will walk up to my buddy's ask for their cigarette, short it, hand them an evod with my ADV in it and tell them "Trust me...use this while we are hanging out and tell me what you think at the end of the night." I leave the kit with them and juice, visit again in about a week, have them try my MVP 2, hubby's VV/VW, the Panzer, the coolfire 2, the istick, pick up my EVOD set then take them shopping (at the best B&M price in the area as no one deserves to waste their money like i did) and set them up with the best setup for them. I kinda feel like a Mary Kay type salesperson when I bring my little kit over. BUT IT WORKS! Thats all that matters in the end.

So back to the original question...am I:

1.) better off for going through this trial and error situation and am I more determined?
2.) someone just handing me the istick and nautilus and explaining their story (like my own adventure) to me?

In the end I think Ive found the best way to introduce my friends to the experience of vaping and we are all going to live a little bit longer together.

Hope you find a little humor in this if anything again THANK YOU JWRAPS for my Coolfire2 LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

Don't see where you need a Long winded post(your words) to show anything. It is really simple.

Vaping by direction will guarantee one person getting stuck using some other persons IDEA of what is the Best Choice.

We already have the FDA for that type of thinking.

I think it is great to have forums and user reviews to reference, but ultimately if you don't try a few interesting things, you will never know what you are missing.
This goes for life in general, not just Vaping.:)

How will you ever know what YOU like best if you only try what I think is best?

    This comes to mind.

Many of us learned from trial and error... 2 years ago there wasn't as many resources as there are today. This site has been a great resource... but even with all the info and reviews you still have to try a few things to find the set-up, juice, etc that works for you.

As far as price shopping... now there's a real challenge!! It amazes me that there are still B&M's and hundreds of online stores ripping consumers off selling cig-a-likes, eGo's, EVOD's and a lot of low end 2nd generation gear at outrageous prices... ($40-80) when these can be found at $10-20 elsewhere.

Like somebody else said, Vaping is subjective, but I've been blessed because I have a co-worker, friend who has been experimenting like no tomorrow and sharing his experiences AND juices with me. He's still learning, but I'm learning too right along with him, and it's interesting as hell! I already know I'm not done yet.
