I'm a newbie here. I noticed almost all the threads discuss things like "flavors" at great length, but what I am most interested is the "hit power." So far, I have tried two different models. The first one was unacceptable, the vapor hit was too weak. The second one was much better, except I would only get 3 or 4 good hits from a new carteridge and then it would go downhill quickly (and get very weark). Also the second one "cuts off" after 2 or 3 seconds (I think that is intentional, who knows why).

Almost no one talks about this issue on the forum! What I want is an ecig that resembles the real smoking experiences as closely as possible. NOT flavors, NOT battery life. NOT cost. Just which one(s) give good hits and a lot of vapor? And last longer than 3 or 4 hits?

I don't care about cost or flavors. I simply want to get off real cigs so I need to one that resembles analog smoking as close as possible.

I found that the DSE103 fit my bill. Small, lightweight, looks and feels like the real thing, gives a decent throat hit, etc. Some may disagree, but as a 2 pack a day smoker, the DSE103 was perfect for me. As I wanted the exact same thing as you, the most realistic experiance possible to that of a real cigarette.

Check out http://www.vaporoptions.com and get the Sophomore kit. That's what I've been working with for the past 5 weeks and have been very satisfied so far.

Well it sounds like you got the same e-cig I had a KR808 Looks Like feels like and doesn't smoke like! Everyone wants a looks like e-cig for the first one. Smaller batteries mean shorter battery charge! They also don't deliver much of a punch.
Here's a list of pictures of the models and then you will have a better idea of what to look for.

Here's another one that shows what devices people prefer:

"hit power" is really dependent on the voltage in the e-cig more than the juice itself. 6V mods are supposed to kick like a mule due to the increased vapor production. I hear 5V is a sweet spot as well for many.

I use a screwdriver, which is at ~3.7V, primarily for the increased flavor rather than hit.

You might want to read the modders forum and look into higher voltage devices.

would be good to know what you had........manual switches all provide better throat hit and hit power, level of nicotine is a factor also

What I have is a brand called N-Joy, model is called "N-pro." Haven't seen it mentioned here.

By the way, should have mentioned this also---I really don't care of it "looks" like a real cig or not. That is ultra low priority. I don't care if it's 2 feet long or purple. I just want a similar throat hit and I want to get more than 4 hits out of it before it fades away.

Someone stop me if I am wrong, but I believe the Njoy Npro is based off the RN4081. The stock carts that come with Npro are tasteless and fade fast, but you can either buy blank (empty) cartridges for that model or buy some e-liquid and refill the stock cartridges. Some of the juices out there, such as from Totally Wicked or TrueSmoker, have excellent throat hit and good vapor production. :thumb:

You're NPRO is a model RN4081. If you're asking for more hit, and vapor, I have to assume you're NPRO is not doing it for you. In that case, look into the Screwdriver, GG, Prodigy, Janty Stick, or Z-Moshi. These are all heavily built units using larger batteries, and higher voltages to give the maximun hit, and vapor.

I would add the Janty Stick to this list. At $80 it is less expensive than most of those mentioned, also boasts excellent battery life(with cheap replacements), a "built in" passthrough and also offers one of the best warranties available.

The "new & improved" v2 is being released for shipment on Tuesday.

The Npro (4081) isn't a bad unit, you can get double sized carts for it from someplace like ecigarettecigar and work the thing.

Strong juice is most of the throat hit, so get the strongest u can find, and some weak stuff for times when you just want to go through the motions of smoking without getting overloaded on nicotine. 36mg menthol juice is the most realistic experience possible. For low or zero nicotine, Johnson creek original is possibly the best throat hit (most zero nic juices have zero throat hit, so jc original was a good find as it has 'some').

If money isn't much concern, the two piece e-cigs are usually quite good at giving a good experience. The cartomizers are expensive though, the cheapest i've seen stateside would be mist-stix. The two piece units 'can' be refilled, though your mileage will vary from one cartomizer to the next.

Beyond that, you have to just look mods like prodigy, gg, screwdriver, etc.

Good luck!

That's the correct answer right there

I would argue that the battery has as much to do with throat hit as all other factors combined.

Unless you get a USB Passthrough. They deliver all the power you need, and gives you that kick in the head. :thumb:

Well Big Jim..where were you when I was getting 2 hits and then nothing!:)
Of course I had no idea this board existed..:To be fair, by the time it was nice and broken in, it started working well, I had to send it back!

A week later I got my 901 and have been very happy and yes I have a nice little pass thru to boot!

Actually, the NPro is not bad for certain aspects. For example, the battery life is pretty good (I can use it all day, sometimes two days on one charge). It also provides decent vapor, but only for the first 4 or 5 hits---which is my main complaint. The carts fade fast.

Someone else suggested using different cartriges or better juice. I might try that before investing in more devices.
