Yes, MrKrinkle, I am. Nothing against your 510, I hear it is great other than the battery life and it is a manual. The reason I am is because of all the posts from newbies frustrated with the inconsistencies of the auto switch devices, battery failure, switch failure and nearing the "quit vaping" stage. I would like for PV's to grow in popularity. There is strength in numbers. That won't happen if too many people give up due to the poor battery life and never knowing if one inhale will be like the last one or not. I know based on my experience and all the positive reports from everyone who has a mod, that it is far superior in performance to the auto switch PV's. Now if they could ever make an auto switch PV that vapes just like an SD, I would switch in a minute.

Wv--Yes you make a very good point here. Simply put--the well built MODS blow away commercial e-cigs anyday. Once we crack building an atomizer--the commercal marketplace of hardware will be of no value to me---------Sun

+1 to both.

I do have a Stick on order, but I am looking at that as more of a mod(mass produced though it is) anyway............we will see..........

EPuffer--the DSE901 is one of the best e-cigs out there so you made a good choice--as for the prefilled cartridges--they do not last that long--buy e-liquid and fill your own--but as for the 901--great unit-
PG is propylene glycol and VG is Vegetable Glycerin--either one can be used as the medium in e-liquid----------Sun

Thank you Guys and Gals for your help! Is there a menthol flavored cartrige for these things? and can you refill the cartriges on the DSE-901?

Unfortunately, most of the so called menthol juices are just mint. I got the Kick juice mint and it tasted more like a vaporized dinner mint than a menthol cigarette. No tobacco taste, just mint. After calling or emailing a number of sites I found this is how most menthol juices are made. Just mint with no cigarette taste.

esmokeytreats.com has a menthol that is supposed to actually taste like a menthol cigarette, ie: tobacco and menthol. They also have a Marlboro red that's supposed to taste like the real thing. Since my fav is Marlboro menthol I'm going to try adding some menthol chrystals to their marlboro juice and see if I can get a marlboro menthol taste. Freshsmoking.com also has a marlboro red in their classic line that has reviewed well that I can add menthol chrystals to. It's all on order and I should know how this experiment will work in a few days.

My vote is for the 901. I have purchaed 4 of these kits for myself and family and they all work well.

I recently bought a 510 and it will soon find itself in the trash bin. Had I started with it I would still be smoking analogs.

Interesting post. The 510 seems to get almost universal praise around here. (I don't have one, just found it interesting that someone really didn't like it)

See these threads...

I am trying to exchange mine for some e-liquid right now. If he doesn't take it back I'll put it up here for sale/trade. I'd rather see it go to a 510 enthusiast, I wouldn't want to turn off a new e-cig smoker with a bad experience. I have a hard time believing it's just a bum unit since I have two atomizers and two batteries (actually one since one went cold after 30 minutes of use and I haven't received the replacement yet).

Less than 1/4th the battery life and maybe 75% of the vapor I get from my 901s, plus my 901s don't burn me.

I agree with a previous post, if she's trying to quit, this might not be the best way. Granted people have done it, but I look at it as more of a smoking alternative.

That said, I haven't found a Menthol out there that could even come close to a Newport. Not saying there isn't one, I just haven't found it yet. However I was a pure Menthol smoker with the Analogs, and now find myself enjoying the vast amount of flavors out there. Personally I don't care for the tobacco flavors for some reason, but some of the fruity flavors have pleased me. I still puff quite a bit of Totally Wicked's Menthol, haven't tried e-smokeytreats... (yet)

As for the type of e-cig, I recommend starting with a Supermini 4081 or Mini 901. I have both and personally the only difference I've found with them is how long a cart will last. The 901 holds a little more fluid and lasts a little longer, but as far as battery and vapor production, I think they're about the same...

If she's at all self conscious, get her a Supermini 4081 that looks like a regular cigarette. I puff on mine all the time at the bar, and hardly ever get asked about it. When I pull out my 901 on the other hand, within 2 puffs someone is asking "What the he!! are you smoking?!" Kinda aggravating sometimes... lol

I made my sister buy a 901 kit from the closest supplier. Reason being is that even though she had a good time playing with my Screwdriver, pen, and 901, the problem is a)she almost demolished my SD and it's pricey for someone who doesn't know how to handle it b)the 801 having larger carts and her not knowing how to fill them properly made her take quite a nice gulp of e-liquid - yuck and c)the 901 was easier for her to fool around with. We already ruled out that she hated the pre-filled carts. I'd rather her fill small 901 carts for starters.

That's just my take on it. It's a good "use and abuse" kit for people who are completely clueless about ecigs and want to just give them a try. They are hard to really mess up and the atties are easy to clean/drain if anything.

Now of course there are savvy people when it comes to new things to try and have done a lot of research and want to go straight for the big bang with no problem (which they should) but for those who do not have the time to spend hours reading and searching boards and need to quickly figure something out on their own then again, the 901 would be my choice.

I always recommend the 901 as a starter. IMHO it's the simplest and easiest to use commercial e-cig and as reliable as any other. The 901 has the added advantage that when people realise they love vaping and need a workhorse the 901 means you have lots of atomisers to use with a Screwdriver (or for the stubborn, some other similar device ;) )

Quite true, good advice.
