Reos should get here next week and with help of fellow Reo fans I know that 32 gauge wire would suit me best but was wondering which wicking material vapes best on Reomizer and other rebuildables. Which one of the following vapes best for you: silica, glassfibre, 100% cotton ? I'm planning to use quite high VG juice so it would be nice if it absorbed liquid nicely. Also I've heard that 100% cotton could be used but has to be boiled before use.

I'm based in europe so it would suit me best to find the material on ebay or vaping sites in Europe. Thank you in advance for your input :)

DMC Pearl Cotton Thread, Size 5, 27 yds. (25m) Skein, 306 colors Needlework Thread

This is the kind I love...it's 100% cotton. DMC 5 Perle Cotton embroidery thread. I put the link so you could see what it looks like, but I'm betting you could find it at a crafts store or sewing shop in the UK. I have tried lots of cotton, and this works best for me. I also tried silica and I like this better. I also tried SS Mesh and just couldn't get the hang of it. This embroidery thread is very inexpensive and works great. I don't even boil it, and I never get an "off" taste. That's my 2 cents. :)

EDIT: I get white.

I use #3 square braid unbleached/unprimed cotton candle wick. I bought 25 feet of it and boiled the whole thing when I got it, then dried it in the oven. It's very easy to work with - I just cut a short piece, stick a needle up through the middle of it and wrap my coil around it.

Thanks- checked on eBay...cheaper to buy from the link above. Shipping was more than the actual item, so I bought 2- I'll have plenty. If anyone wants a free sample of the cotton candle wick, PM me- I'll gladly send them some. I'm thinking if this is pure and unadulterated as they say, I won't even need to boil it.

Thanks for that link. I tried some cotton embroidery thread, but it just didn't work out for me. It also gave me an off-taste, but then I didn't realize I needed to boil it.

Interesting technique, gonna have to give that a whirl! I would say, though, that if you're going to build the coil separately, then it would seem much simpler to test it (for ohms and evenly-glowing coils) before adding the cotton.

*edit* - Having carelessly just burned the bejezus out of my wick, it was time for a change, so I tried the beside-the-coil method - worked like a charm on my Chalice! Conceivably, it should be simple to just replace the cotton when needed until the coil dies. I'm gonna stick with this for a while.
