Who built this place?!

I've been reading here for over half a year - but it's only more recently that I've participated and interacted within the site.

All I can say is WOW! I'm so impressed with the level of thought that has gone into programming. I'm aware of blogging software that makes it easy to create sophisticated blogs easily - but are there ready-made forum groups, too? Was this a labor of love? Commissioned?

When Thyestean helped out one of my threads by posting a link instead of my lame typing out directions (total gap) - I realized how I haven't been paying close enough attention to everything here.

Down to little areas that tell you who's viewing what to the whole profile/messaging... oh, I don't know EVERYTHING. The scope is so huge it's just blowing my mind right now... and I just wondered who's responsible for this monster of a place?

I'd love to know the story. It's probably around here somewhere and I just don't know where to click.[FONT=Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial][/FONT]

I concur. It's a very well designed sight. I can tell a lot went into designing it. The mods are really on top of things too. I've been on sights where a spammer/troll has been on for several days before anyone took care of it. Very nice.

The forum uses software called vBulletin (vB). The software van be customized many different ways to suit the needs of a particular forum. The decision on how the various groups and forums are setup is determined by the management team at ECF.

Well, when Elendil came into being it was an accident. You know how some of the best inventions ever made were made entirely on accident? Yeah, he wasn't one of those.

vB, however, is a wonderfull program.

Actually... I don't think so. The question was (as I see it) who created the ECF forums. SmokeyJoe did.

As far as who is responsible for the ECF being what it is today, I think all of us had a hand in it, members and staff alike.
