I'm a pretty fashionable guy, and probably take a little more pride in my appearance (clothes and grooming-wise anyway) than your average Joe, but when it comes to vaping equipment I usually don't hold TOO much priority on aesthetics. To me function is much more important than form, so I find myself researching trusted reviewers for their opinion on how something performs rather than it's appearance.
Now believe me I'll be the first to say "ooh that's pretty", and sometimes have a case of shiny-itis (I actually think matte-stainless steel is the classiest you can be but I'm still guilty of liking my reflection on my mod
) sometimes I'm tempted to buy something just because it's eye-candy even though the majority of the reviews and specs I've read won't necessarily fit my personal vaping style (example: caravela's, no-one can deny they aren't beautiful, but me and a friend traded for a day with my authentic stingray, and the function was ever-so-lesser, so I immediately missed my stingray and will never give it up again because It's an amazing mod, no matter how much it doesn't match my current favorite topper
).
Please don't think I'm insulting anybody at all, because IM NOT, I'll put together a rig that looks amazing any chance I get, but the components of that rig have to be what I like performance-wise. In a nutshell I guess I'm a vaper that vapes with his eyes closed lol, most of the time I'm distracted anyway watching the tube, reading, working, enjoying my new-found health outdoors and what I really want is the vape quality, nice touch sensory (comfy drip tip, ease of use, even the button is important: I want a micro-stick just because of that button you can't miss
) and above all performance.
There's nothing wrong whatso-ever with buying vaping equipment as fashion accesories, I like it because I get to look at it when you all post it online :drools:, and I have a humble collection myself that could be in an art gallery so I'm definitely not standing on a soap-box lol. I think vapers would be much happier if they didn't judge books by their covers (whether it be brand, color, finish, size, shape etc.) and exclude options based on "matching" lol.
The only reason I thought of this was because of my purchase of an Aspire Nautilus a while back, I think most know they have a reputation for being the frankenstein of the vape-world, but I thought it looked cool
like a high-tech piece of science equipment, it does look like your putting a nuclear reactor in you mouth on top of the right mod
, but I like that it's unique. But that's not the reason I bought it, I bought it because many of the reviewers I trust were all claiming it's the best tank this year, and I definitely agree, it's the ONLY tank I use now as I've preferred drippers for a while now because it performs like one (which happens to be what I personally am going for), but I never have to re-drip with it's humongous 5ml tank
.
So yeah that's all I'm rambling about
, 60% of the comments on the nautilus are "it's ugly, not for me", and I agree with not buying something you hate looking at, it's nice to have a piece of eye candy to vape on. But this being my favorite tank out of all the ones I've tried (Kanger, Davide, EVOD's, Sophia's, and other aspires), it's a shame the quality (in my opinion) will never reach other peoples lungs because it doesn't go with their phone case lol.
Vape on my ECFriends! And I love you all, no hatred in this thread, no offense intended.
