Curious. I've had REOs, many, since 2010. I've never had a tube split. If you have had it happen what were you doing when it happened? How old was your tube? What kind of juices were mostly used with it? Someone suggested that a clean silicon tube in a REO, used for a short time, and then stored for a couple of years, stored in controlled temp and humidity, and darkness will break down and weaken. I don't buy it.

In all the days I've been a squonken I ain't never had a tube split. Granted, that's only like 18 days (or so) but I do have a question that might be helpful to someone who just had their tube split and found this thread.........

When you put a new tube in a REO do you use any kind of adhesive or do you just push it onto the smaller metal tube?

I think in the video Rob puts a dab of glue. I'm fairly sure he doesn't say what kind.. Super glue seems like it would eat through the tubing?

Thanks and keep em com'n. I think Robert does use a bit of glue. There is a bit of discoloration on the end on most of mine; kind of a yellowing where they go over the metal nipple. I've had the fat tubes pop off the nipple on a couple of Mini Woodvils when pulling bottle out to fill. One Mini Woodvil the metal nipple does not come down as far as the others. That was the first one to pop off. But I've had no splitting. I've never had any skinny tubes on metals pop off on any unless I forcibly, intentionally pulled them off. I have a few original Woodys going back to early 2010 and tubes are in great shape. Those, btw, have a piece of wire wrapped around the tube where it goes over nipple.

BTW, Robert suggested to me a while back to get the gel super glue because it is more controllable and it is. I've had a couple of Woodvil buttons come unseated from hole and that's what he suggested to use for them. I use it for magnets now, too.

Krazy glue works just fine. And on one I did the other that I did a rebuild on I didn't. The tines never fallen off on either. The new tubes are thicker and less likely to split.

Well that is part of my point in asking. Are the skinny tubes really more likely to split? I've never had it happen. Not saying it doesn't happen but why have I not had it happen. There must be a reason Robert changed to the fat tubes. Perhaps I should PM him for his answer. In the beginning he wasn't selling the rebuild kits and extras. Maybe he did see some tube issues.

Although I'm pretty gentle handling my REOs when filling and cleaning maybe I'm more gentle than many others. I love old things and antiques but they are expected to stand up to daily use and they have to be tough enough to survive a house full of rowdy GIANT puppies and dogs. I'm pretty OCD about the way I clean and store my clothes, shoes, etc. When I wash I separate by not only colors but weight and finish or content of fabrics. Many things go into fabric bags. And I've always used front load washers as they are less stressful on clothes, rinse better, and of course use much less energy, water, and cleaning products. Leather shoes are rarely used days in a row. Even though I have a dirty, cluttered, messy house I still take pretty good care of things that need special care. Leather, shoes, boots, tack are kept cleaned and oiled, most things. So I guess you could say I'm selectively OCD. I'd put any of my well used Wood REOs up against others same age and use. They may be swimmers but they are prepared for that.

I don't know if this is relevant but here is what i found with a search about tube durability by redeyedancer: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/161169-reo-measurements-parts-terminology-3.html#post4256122
