It is absolutely the 5 post restriction that keeps all the spam in one spot(here) versus the rest of the forum. Spammers are notoriously lazy (and sometimes employ bots). Their first post is spam. By restricting posting abilities to one board for the first 5 posts, we ensure a spam free environment throughout the rest of the forum.

That's interesting I can see the logic. When your a guest in someones house, it's not unreasonable to be expected to follow their rules of course.. doesn't mean your not going to find some of those rules frustrating, but if they are the best way to keep the proselytizers off the doorstep...

What's the logic though in not allowing people with a high number of posts from posting in the "New members forum"? Someone (who helped me spend some of my hard earned cash earlier) stated that the old members like helping out the new ones and that the new members forum is the best place for that.

They can post all they like, they just cannot start a thread. After a certain number of posts, you aren't new and can start a thread in any forum.

You can respond to posts here regardless of how many posts you have, you just can't start a new thread if you have more than 70 posts.... honestly, I am such a post ..... that I had 70 posts within the first few days and was thus banned from starting new threads here even though I was still just a newbie. :(

That's ok, though, because most of my posts are totally irrelevant!

They can post in the New Members Forum, they just can't start new threads. That's reserved for new members.

Gotcha! Very well then, carry on! :) By the way, is it normal around here for a thread to pass 21 pages in a matter of hours?????? I'm just wondering. In all honesty the last thread I tried to gleam some useful info from for something I was looking to purchase involved cartomizers and burning.... my head exploded after 40 pages :O
