Wondering how you guys roll your wicks, or if you make it different for a certain pg/vg ratio. I tend to go with a lot of vg, some 100%. i'd say the lowest I go is 50/50. I just got a good setup yesterday so I've not much to base anything on and I've only 100% vg in the house til tomorrow. It's wicking ok, but just ok. I've been rolling a wick that fits in the hole just perfect, hence it wont fall through but you also don't need hardly any force to move it vertically. I also made sure it was somewhat tight yet open, as in I made sure a paper clip could go all the way through. this is all with 500, I've never tried anything else. I know there are debates on mesh, but I would like to pick some brains on the actual rolling, and how it affects the overall wicking.

I vape mostly 30/70 mixes. I would vape 100% VG, but I like to see the vapor!

I have found that 50/50 is a little irritating to my throat and REALLY drys me out. And straight VG tasted cleanest to me, but produces almost no vapor, so I don't find it as psychologically satisfying. I need 20 or 30% PG in there to give me big plumes... ;-)

I haven't used any steel mesh RBAs yet, but all the silica wick RBAs I use (Vivi's, Drunkers, Phoenix, etc) wick 30/70 without fail, and produce a solid, consistent vape with good flavor and great vapor.

umm VG produces the most vapor, did you type it wrong?

Wut.

PG produces much less vapor...

To address the OP:

I vape 100% VG nearly exclusively even in genesis atomizers. You need a thin-walled, hollow wick that is significantly slimmer in diameter than the wick hole. It allows the juice to flow through AND around the wick and acts more like a straw than anything. A slight tilt is enough to feed my chain-vaping up to the last .25 ml

A quick way to test is drip a couple of drops. If that vapes good then you have wicking problems, if not, then you have some coil problems. When I had my dud set up with 400 with a hole, I could hold it a little past vertical and see a bead of liquid form at the end. (65/35 pg to vg). With a hole the size of a needle, I would think all vg would do the same.

Come to think of it, I set my dud up with a slightly smaller wick also. I was following the advice in one of the videos to reduce the possibility of a short in that area. I didn't realize it was part of the reason it was wicking so well.

Thing is though, it wicks backwards also. I'm thinking that might not be a problem if you vape out however much you have in the tank. However, if you vape out half a tank, say, then set it aside for something else, then go back to it a day or so later, don't be surprised if the flavor of your juice has changed.

Definitely nailed it dude. If you come back after an hour or so, make sure you give her a slight tilt, haha. Come to think of it though, who can go without vaping for an hour :p

here's the technique for a small wick.
hold the rolled mesh between you pointer fingers and thumbs, and with the roll of the mesh coming towards you
roll forward, against the direction the mesh is going.
only roll that one direction, not back and forth, to get it nice and small.
to eliminate the hole in the center, do the same direction as that, but put between 2 hardcover books or similar and roll.

Wow. It seems so simple now, but I just rolled my tightest wick yet. Thank you so much!

i actually use 500 mesh and roll from a starting size of 110mm, about 4 1/2in. now this wick eventually goes into my ac-9, so it is about 3mm finished, also same wick for my aga-t. i dont find it that difficult to roll without a book. do 3x burn, after each burn roll a little bit more, by the 3rd time its just right. i couldnt imagine any other wick combination, wicking better than this.
