When I first tried an electronic cigarette I thought, “Hmmm. Wonder if I could make money selling these cool new gadgets?”

After all, I reasoned, I had more than 20 years in radio and TV advertising under my belt. And I knew a hit product when I saw one. Unlike other business opportunities, it's not necessary to call all your friends, or become a Facebook and Twitter pest. Actually, E-cigs (electronic cigarettes, e-cigarettes, personal vaporizers, or whatever you wanna call them) sell themselves. For people who need it such as former smokers? Forgetaboutit. They will find you.

Plus, there is a need for good sellers, people with actual expertise who can help newcomers make the best decisions.

So, I threw my hat into the ring and started up my own e-cig biz at www.ThanksForVaping.com. The hours are great, the pay is good, plus I have met some of the most interesting people in the world. I do not lie.

The demographic of e-cig vapers is former smokers, aged 30 to 65. These men and women are usually witty, wise and open to new ideas, such as using ecigs instead of analogues. It's made for some interesting conversation, and good customers who return for ejuice, cartridges, batteries, atomizers, and cartomizers. Some people immediately see e-cigs' business potential.

Is it easy to start an ecig business? Well... Building a successful small business is never easy. You need a business plan. There's there's inventory. Product knowledge. Awareness of Google Adsense and other search engine optimization tools will help, as will this E-Cigarette Forum. The information is available, and the cost of entry is comparatively low. If you focus on your idea, continue to do research, and let your enterprise grow gradually, you may have a profitable business.

Why am I sharing insights with competitors? In today's www world all the info you need is out there. Everyone is a potential competitor. But that doesn't mean it's easy. It takes more than information. It takes risk. Determination. It must be "a calling" in order to muster the laser focus you need to make a venture a success.

Aside from basic marketing like finding your niche and getting people to find you, there are plenty of challenges to e-cig vending, such as no eBay, Craigslist, Amazon sales of e-cigs allowed--Google Adwords restrictions and so on, to weed out those who would otherwise be in it to make "a quick buck." You need to be inspired to stay in it for the long haul.

Its tremendously satisfying to help people discover the glories of e-cigs. When they put their analogues aside in favor of e-cigs for good, that inspires me. :D
