The working group of World Health Organization Framework Convention on tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) has agreed on a draft decision on e-cigarettes regulation, final decision to be made later on Saturday.

Here is an update I found tonight.

There were too many "ban", "restrict", and "prevent" in that article for me to be able to read thru it without throwing my phone across the room. The way I see it WHO now owes me a new iPhone.

But, of course, what else could you expect from the little Eichmanns at FCTC?

I was at the same place as you when I read it except I they owe me a mouse.

I cannot say what I think of the evil doings of those deathmongering pharma shills. It would not be printable.

This is what Professor Gerry Stimson says:
Professor Gerry Stimson – reaction to WHO FCTC position on e-cigarettes (ENDS) « The counterfactual

By Professor Gerry Stimson*, Emeritus Professor at Imperial College, London and co-director of Knowledge-Action-Change (KAC)

Saturday, 18 October 2014 (London, UK)

The Conference of the Parties meeting on the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) which took place this week to in Moscow issued a declaration that is unambiguously bad for e-cigarettes, bad for public health and scandously bad for evidence based policy-making

In a meeting tainted by the exclusion of the public and a ban on all media representatives from attending, the WHO FCTC seems unashamedly indifferent to the endemic disregard for evidence and the harmful unintended consequences of the kind of actions that have been agreed in Moscow – the most obvious one being the protecting of conventional cigarettes from competition from far less dangerous products like e-cigarettes.

The ‘Moscow Declaration’ calls for countries to take steps to minimise the proliferation of new nicotine products – which includes the much safer e-cigarettes.

The ultimate irony has successfully managed to take the public out of public health.

Here is the original text of that horrible WHO document aimed at protecting tobacco cigarettes - and pharma profits - from the competition by the much less harmful e-cigarettes :

http://www.clivebates.com/documents/COP6ENDSFinal.pdf

3. INVITES Parties to consider prohibiting or regulating ENDS/ENNDS, including as tobacco
products, medicinal products, consumer products, or other categories, as appropriate, taking into
account a high level of protection for human health;

prohibit e-cigs in order to protect public health. I call that public health malpractice

Thank you, I have been looking for the text. One of the news drops that I saw said that they were recommending the regulation of 0 nicotine devices as well (to avoid confusion I guess). Did you see that in the text?

Edit: Yes non-nicotine is in there as well.

This is a gem! My emphasis added. Anyone believe this?

6. REQUESTS the Convention Secretariat to invite WHO to prepare an expert report, with independent scientists and concerned regulators, for the seventh session of the Conference of the Parties with an update on the evidence of the health impacts of ENDS/ENNDS, potential role in quitting tobacco usage, impact on tobacco control efforts and to subsequently assess policy options to achieve the objectives outlined in paragraph 2 of this decision and to consider the methods to measure contents and emissions of these products.

They are using ENDS ( electronic nicotine delivery system) to complete the demonization of nicotine. The move from smoking kills to tobacco kills to nicotine kills* is almost complete.

[*unless it's a Big Pharma nicotine product, then it's perfectly harmless]

^ Fixed this for you.

Tried to stay out of tin foil hat area, I still think they are trying to gain total control of it so they can bring out the latest miracle drug for dementia.

eta:With the first of the boomers turning 68 this year there is going to be a huge market mostly paid for by medicare. BP is salivating over that. I know this because I are one.

My pleasure. Clive Bates blog is a good one to follow for current news on such matters.

Oh yeah, I saw the non-nicotine containing devices. WTH??? Now, my grandma always used to advise me to inhale chamomille tea vapor over a bowl, against bronchitis. I wonder if that vapor will be included in the ban. Probably yes. You see, inhaling chamomille tea vapor over a bowl works GREAT against bronchitis. AND you do not have to purchase expensive pharma-made crap that costs a hell of a lot more and does not work half as well.

I had a little fun with the parody image this weekend, so that it's more inclusive, and more truthful...

Great picture but it is missing the Anti groups that are milking the WHO, CDC, and FDA. View attachment 383211 So I finished it for you.

Yeah... and I was also trying to figure out a way to show how ridiculous it is for two groups so "udderly" wrong and "udderly" incompetent on e-cigs to be leading the way with this ebola business, but nothing came to mind, so I just left it as it was. :D

But this sort of thing is EXACTLY what I was talking about, just a few weeks ago -- WHO and CDC have compromised their own integrity, as well as demonstrating very clearly how completely incompetent they are since the ebola thing started; so who in their right mind would pay them a bit of attention now?
