They just banned e-cigs in public in all county owned parks etc, including parking lots, here in Travis County, Texas. They said they had "no intention" of enforcing it, but they are going to spend just over $8000.00 on signs. What does that mean? In English please :/

Am I scared? Kind of. Definitely worried. Yes, i too am very cynical, but I am two classes short of my second degree in Poli Sci, lol. Why am I scared? Alcohol is directly responsible for 2.5 million deaths annually world wild. ......... is responsible for zero. One is legal, one is not. That's just one example. I know nicotine is not anywhere near as dangerous as aspartame, which is in kids candy (and everything else). But one is legal, and one is not in public, and possibly, about to be illegal. It is illegal in other places. That's two and there are many, many, too many, more examples of the Govt not acting in the citizens best interests.

I do not count on my government to do what is right or healthy. I count on them, no matter what party, to do what is in their best interest, and that is Big Pharm's interests.

If you think I am joking, go read some research. Don't trust me. Find out for yourself. When I was in grad school I was researching anti-depressants (SSRI's). According to Big Pharms own research, they have no greater chance of working than placebo, which is under 30%. They do however have very serious side affects including negative, mood altering, ones, up to and including violence and suicide in people who would not normally be classified as hostile, violent, or suicidal.

Doctors hand them out like candy to people they dont even have under weekly or even monthly supervision. They may not even see that patient again for a year. It's insane. But its also big money. Big Pharm always wins. E-cigs are getting people off of the patches, anti-depressants, and cigarettes. We are now taking money out of their pockets. I think they want to make it so that we will need a prescription to use nicotine products.

I wish i could stock up. Everyone is sold out, lol.

You know, there really is a no win situation here for the gubbermint. It they go down the tax! tax! tax! path that will only lead to all of us buying from overseas places - where they don't collect for and pay taxes to our Federal system. They can't force an overseas company to collect our sales taxes. And even if there was some vehicle to do that, who would check and enforce it? Customs? One package at a time? It would never happen. Nope, we would be buying overseas and paying our e-cig sales taxes ourselves on the "honor system". The same tax system that says we must declare all income, including that obtained from prostitution and drug trafficking.

It hasn't happened yet so how could I be scared, and if it does I think angry and some other words would more accurately describe my feelings.

Chill and have a vape, if the FDA does something crazy make it a huge media story since the public outcry will do more than any lawyer can.

Im not scared so much as apprehensive.

I just bought 100 cartos, have 400ml of juice stocked,a bottle of 100mg nicotine in the freezer, two Provaris and 5 18650s all ready to go. I know I can make it for at least a year but Im worried what the FDA can do this industry and to all my friends.

YES! my favorite is the stop smoking drugs which can cause side effects such as suicide.
Let's take people who are already depressed and give them stuff that could possibly make them more depressed.
They don't have our best interests at heart. It's all about $$$
That's why I don't think they will ban eliquid. Because one of the tobacco companies bought blu.
They can make money. They have lobbyists.

And as far as equipment goes I'm stocked. Except for juice

Maybe I can barter with all you guys who've been stockpiling xD

I am not afraid because I have a good supply now of what I need to DIY my juice whereas before I only bought nic juice for DIY as I needed it. Taking control of your personal situation however you can at least lessens the anxiety some. If nothing happens this year then I'm set for awhile---so as someone else mentioned its all good. As far as other items needed for vaping I've been getting as much as I can from the co-ops.

I fear this is only their first step. The Government has no problem taking their time, as long as they get what they want in the end. I fear they will eventually ban devices that allow the user to change batteries. Reason being, reduce the chances of someone blowing up a APV due to misuse of the battery. I fear the Government will allow only cartomizers as a means of containing nicotine. I fear they will ban the sell of nicotine in a bottle weather as a base for DIY or bottles of e-liquid. I fear they will do that as a safety measure against over exposure to people. And lastly, I fear they will use the cartomizer as a mathematical tool for calculating their tax.

Both Blu and NJoy are both owned by tobacco companies and those two companies have a large investment in e-cigs now. Their budgets and lobbyists may be assisting our side in the battle.
Oops...

You are correct that Blu was bought by Big Tobacco. Lorillard (NYSE symbol LO)

But last I heard NJoy is still privately owned. I am sure they would sell out if the price were right.

Not in the slightest bit.
They FDA wont ban vaping. There's no way, the government is making money off of it. If the FDA bans it, it will only back fire on them. So, instead of taking the humiliation, they'll probably just tax the hell out of it. They know the contrast between it and cigarettes, they'd be fools to ban one and not the other. They should have banned cigarettes a long time ago. This is how we evolve. We find bigger and better solutions to every situation. Whether our greedy side takes over or not. As long as our government is making money, nothing will change(obviously). If you think about it, everyone knows the health risks of smoking cigarettes, the postponed and long term affects, and yet we still sit and watch people set themselves up for possible disaster.
Case-in-point, there are too many vapors, doctors, etc, what will fight. FDA will not let itself become over run.
We're good.

My main concern is that the FDA will do everything in their power to make this industry less attractive to those looking to make the switch.

I worry about the smokers who will stumble upon vaping in a year or so and have a hard time doing what we're all doing now with ease.

This industry is saving lives. Why any health organization would want to impede or halt that is ... well, stupid.

I said it. It's stupid!

I could, as they did with "flavored" cigarettes...see them banning flavored eliquid. However thats easily overcome by just ordering the flavoring separately and adding it yourself. I've started to delve into DIY this past weekend. Finally got a shipment from RTS, Capellas and Tractor Supply had PG in stock locally. First attempt (a fruity pina colada mix) is still steeping before I try it. :)
