Why are they making 200 watt mods like the new sigelei, ivp3 il, and snow wolf? I thought that 2 sony vtc4 are only good to about 150 watts? why are they making these mods if theres no batteries out there that can safely support them?
Because "more is more" and "bigger is better" people will flock to buy them.

Foggy is dead on.

I bought a 200w Snow Wolf on sale recently because it was cool and I wanted one... And it was on sale. :) Didn't need it.

Don't think I have had it over 60w yet and generally vape at 30-40w. It is big, heavy, not ergonomic at all and not something you could carry around all day comfortably.

I like it for home use and the battery life is great for subohming due to the dual 18650s.

If I did it again I would buy a Sigelei 150TC. Not because I need 150w, but I like the dual battery option and it is much more comfortable to carry around. My Kanger Subox blows thru the single battery even at 30w.

I have no idea why anyone would need over 150w (more like 100w).

To answer your question, the mods pulse above 150 watts to get within the batteries capability. Despite the advertising hype, they are not true 200 W RMS mods.

I used a 30 watt mod for a while, but outgrew it quickly and picked up a Sigelei 100w. For now I think it's all I need. I don't really see the need for more than that unless you had some insanely crazy multiple atty or like 16 coil build or something. I could be wrong though. I'm still pretty new to this.

Concur. Unless you blow cloud for fun-- and have leather lungs and titanium lips-- 200 watts is pretty wasted. The day I got my 200 watt Snow Wolf, I quickly coiled a dripper at .3, juiced it up and set the machine at a conservative (I thought) 100 watts. I took a pull, the vapor went searing down my throat and into my lungs, where it hit like a nuke. I coughed for 10 minutes straight and then had vapor steaming from every pore, like smoke from a wood siding house on fire inside. Fool that I am, I tried it again with similar results. From that day, I've never had it over 70 watts...

I started with a 20w eGrip then an Istick 20w. Didn't take long to outgrow them and move up to my Evods.

They really should just come with a power cord!

thanks, im nervous about using the .15 nickel coil on the sigelei 150tc at temp 450 40 jouls with the two sony vtc4. it vapes great but the batteries last about twice as long as 1 did in my evic s at 27-30 watts .5 kenthal coil. The evic would burn the cotton too fast coils would only last a 4 day to a week. im going on week two with the nickel temp mode and getting the same vape.

back to topic, so all of the battery exploding mods i see all over the internet are from running under size batteries?

Not under sized ~ using the wrong chemistry batteries, over taxing by exceeding the continuous discharge rate (CDR), nicks or tears in the wrap, over heating the battery, not understanding that as a battery ages the capacity & ability to provide amps safely is diminished, using an insufficient battery for a specific use, using harvested/used/fake/re wrapped falsely labeled batteries, believing marketing hype amp ratings, buying batteries from sketchy un reliable sources, over discharging, over charging, not using a battery box when carrying spares, using mismatched batteries in multi battery power devices or being too dumb to chew bubble gum & walk.

Because people will Buy them.

And if people Buy them, then you can (hopefully) make a profit.

and Volcano are making one, which suggests you can make a profit even if *for the first time ever, in the existence of Volcano* they are actually charging the same as everyone else.

I think Vaporfi need to up their game. I'm sure they can sell a genuine $100 mod for .. oooh .. let me see ... at least $399.99

Actually, they could take an existing mod, give it some Green O-rings and charge $499.99

What about V2? I'm sure V2 could turn a tidy profit in here. Make the V2 one $299.99 and say it's better than the $199.99 ones because they 'run their own manufacturing program' in Wisconsin (Wisconsin Guangxi) instead of asking Kangertech or Eigate to make it.

Profit is a Funny Beast sometimes. Especially in a Market like the e-Cigarette Market.

If I Crank Out some New Mod, how long will it be Before it is Cloned?

So do I set an Price Point that has a Low Profit Margin and try to go for High Volume Sales? Or do I set a High Price Point / High Margins and go with Less Sales?

Hard to Say sometimes?

For the same reason they make 200mph sports cars and 1000$ mobile phones. Hardly anybody uses their full capabilities but they so darn nice to have.
