Sadly, nothing shady.

It's effectively price protection and re-seller protection.

I bough an Inno*** product knowing it would arrive with half the manual removed and all authentication deliberately and shabbily vandalized.

It stops some people shopping where the brands don't want them to shop, and saves face for the Chinese manufacturers. A win, win for everybody....
Didn't know they were even making one without DNA200 chip! No thank you!

Profit is a Funny Beast sometimes. Especially in a Market like the e-Cigarette Market.

If I Crank Out some New mod, how long will it be Before it is Cloned?

So do I set an Price Point that has a Low Profit Margin and try to go for High Volume Sales? Or do I set a High Price Point / High Margins and go with Less Sales?

Hard to Say sometimes?
either way it seems one ends up with the same net profit...

It can. But it Doesn't necessarily have to.

If I sell 100 pcs per day @ $50 then I have the Same Total Sales as if I sell 25 pcs per day @ $200.

Pcs1 x Price1 = Pcs2 x Price2

IFF

Pcs1 / Pcs2 = Price2 / Price1

So here is a Question: Which would you rather do? Make/Store/Take Orders/Process/Ship 100 pcs per day? Or would you rather do 25?

But I also have to consider... If I make a mod and Price it at $200, how quickly will it be Cloned and at what price? Verses if I released it at $50?

So Yeah... Sometimes Net Profits might be similar or the Same with 2 Different Pricing methods, so I should look at Other Factors that might effect my Bottom Line.

Thanks well explained by all. I went ahead and ordered another set of vtc4 so i have 3 sets married together. Also try and put them on the charger around 50%. I heard not running them all the way down will help the battery last longer. I got about a year or close too it using the 2 vtc4 on the evic and i would chain vape till the tip would be too hot put my mouth on it. But i hated that mod vaping was all over the place one puff would be great the next one would be none. i picked up the sigelei 150tc for $50 so i picked it over the other lower power mods as they wasnt on sale black friday

To me is the sensible choice. Good for you.

A 150 watt mod for $50 vs a 200w mod for $200.

:)

Again, not getting the whole picture. That 150W for $50 is more than likely using some type of cheap knockoff YiHiCigar Chipset while that 200 Watter is more than likely using an extremely Sturdy well built with Top Shelf components made by Evolv! Odds are it's a DNA 200 which is money well spent and will carry a warranty if produced by a reputable assembler like Dana...

That is if there isn't some sale going on that is reducing the price of the 150! Thanks YaperToe's dawt calm.

Caveat: didn't see the "Sigelei" bit but make sure it's not from fasttech saying "sigelei styled"!!1!

Sorry working on a Migraine.

I picked up two of them...I don't need TC (until they are reasonably priced and work well with NiCr and Stainless - Kanthal would be a real winner) or 200W. It just so happens that the Sig 150 has TC; I have had them for 6 weeks and have yet to use the TC ...Very solid device at the right price!

There was a time when I could vape a kayfun clone at 11 watts on an MVP2 and thought I was in vape nirvana.

There was a time when I could vape a subtank or atlantis at 25-40 watts and thought I was in vape nirvana.

There was a time when I could vape a Herakles at 60 watts, have crazy long coil life and I was in vape nirvana.

There was a time when I could vape a TFV4 quad coil or a Velocity with dual Clapton vertical coils at 100 watts and was in vape nirvana.... LOL get where I am going....

Honestly I like my TFV4 with a single .7 ohm Clapton at 40 watts... its a great daily driver for me... I got the Releaux DNA 200 simply for the insane battery life. They may make a 100-200 watt vape that I really enjoy down the road... if so I am prepared for it!

I agree with you as the mod can be updated with the necessary algorithms for other coil materials down the road. That one is still a bit pricey for me now, especially when I am not in need of it at the moment.

Perfect comparison! I remember the days of big block muscle cars and though we hardly ever pegged them at 120 or 140 ( fixed ), it was a lot of fun going 0 to 90 in nothing flat!

Tickets, what tickets? My driving record is perfect, of course I am 57 and not 17 now ;)

I saw 187MPH on my GSX-R750 at least 50 times, and nearly 150MPH every day. When it takes just seconds to get there and back off... twist the wrist.

Heck, don't even need 200 watts to push the new TFV4 3 or 4 coil heads. What you need are Amps to push a lot of vapor. Even though Watts is Total Power the number doesn't show the entire picture.
Aaahhh... No offense, but I don't think you have that right. Watts are a measure of power, amps are a measure of current. While it is true putting a lot of power (watts) on the coil is what makes vapor (coil surface area and ability to wick juice are also considerations), and in practical terms in a battery powered mod, this requires some considerable ampacity in the batteries, the bottom line is watts is what you want. Putting 200 watts on the coil at the single battery voltage of 4.2v will require a current in excess of 47 amperes; but if you series 10 batteries to make 42 volts, you could put the same power on the coil at less than 5 amperes.

Why are they making 200 watt mods like the new sigelei, ivp3 il, and snow wolf? I thought that 2 sony vtc4 are only good to about 150 watts? why are they making these mods if theres no batteries out there that can safely support them?

Best explained by this song:

To be honest, I rarely take a mod past 80W. With some of the temperature control mods, the ability to use high power can help maintain a constant temperature during it's heat up phase, but for the most part, there's really not much use to go super high for most people.

I have my first edition Sigeli 100w... it still works fine. I have an Xcube II, and it's set for 80W now. most of my other mods... they're set for 25W. I don't care about how many watts the new ones come out to.. as long as they can do 50W, that's fine with me. I prefer dual batteries for the battery life, and I do occasionally vape .5 ohms or below.. but usually prefer a good .7 ohm build.
