Why am I cleaning/noaloxing my firing pin so often?

Every two or three battery changes my Grand starts to act like the battery is dying even though the batt is fresh.

....I clean the firing pin lightly w/ an emery board, apply a dab of noalox and it fires great again.

I didn't think I should have to do this so frequently.....I'm vaping an RM2 @ 1ohm. Is the lower resistance causing more oxidization or is there something else I should look for?

The part of Canada that doesn't get enuf Snow :(
Make sure you rm2 screws are good and snug. Now I don't want to turn you into a button masher but be sure you are holding the button down to make consistent pressure not floating on and off. You can put a little noalox on the top of the battery (there are some clear antioxidants that would be less messy) to help slow it down. If you have scrubbed the battery tops they will oxidize faster. Lastly what batteries are you using ?

Thanks for the reply, I'm using the Rob-recommended aw IMR 1600mah.

But its funny, as I don't have the problem with my mini 2.1(18490) which I also vape @ 1ohm.

If you have some or can get a small tube of it try some deoxidant you can get it at some hardware and most automotive stores. Do the battery top and bottom and the firing pin and spring on the Reo. Then reapply antioxidant ie noalox or what have you.

Any good electrical cleaner will work. So will alcohol most times.

metal file and a big dob of noalox makes mine fine for 2 weeks, but by then it needs a clean and redo anyway. I only use 1Ω coils on my grand.

Ruins batteries (i don't care), means i have to clean and file grand more than anyone else (i don't care), uses more juice (i don't care) - because the vape is great so i don't care!

Thanks trunker! I certainly don't want to give up my 1ohm vape either, and I'm willing to work for it, because as you said, the vape is so good!

I've had good success using an antisieze compound meant for spark plug threads, it has good conductivity and anti oxidating properties I believe it has copper in it also.

I was wondering if antisieze would work,Ive got a big honkin jar of it.
I'll try that first when I run out of the supplied naolox

I've been a victim of the big mushroom button preventing the firing pin to make good contact with the battery.
Remove the mushroom top and see if it hits like the locomotive that it is.
If that fixes it, you'll need something in the button to keep it from bottoming out the firing pin before battery contact.
A little rare earth magnet works.

So, I gather this is all cleared up? Just wanted to add/reiterate: when I first had this problem, I filed my pin too timidly as well. It fixed it, for a few hours or days . . .

You gotta really bear down on that little puppy. don't be shy. SCRATCH IT! (RAWWWWWR) Then you're good to go for weeks or months.

Yeah, I think I was definitely filing my pin too timidly.......Thanks!
