more smoke = more lung irritant = more coughing

These subohm coils are designed specifically to make more smoke and your melo III comes with a 0.3 & 0.5 ohm coils.

Your cig-a-likes probably had a resistance in the 2 ohm region.

If you currently have the 0.3 ohm coil in there, switch to the 0.5 and close off the airflow as much as possible; this might make it more enjoyable for you.

Ohms are the unit of measurement of resistance to electric current in a wire (like feet are the unit of measurement of length.) It is abbreviated with the greek letter

The wire in the case of your melo 3 is the wire that is coiled up inside your coil head behind the cotton.

The resistance is printed on the coil heads if you look carefully.

Here's a link to the manufacturer's description of your coil heads.

If you look at point number 2 "Invisible Airflow Control" at the following link, it shows you where the air flow control is on your melo 3. You con open/close it to your liking

I recently was given a vape for my bday (melo III) I'm running on 14.0w and when I get to much vape it makes me cough some is it something im doing or because im trying to switch to vape from 305 cigar cigarettes.?

If you've just switched to vaping from smoking cigarettes, you WILL cough for a bit of time. Never mind the tank, etc. as it's all IRRELEVANT.. you'd be doing the same with any tank at this phase.

First, the nicotine levels in the liquid needs to be right for you, otherwise you'll get a harder hit that you'll be able to tolerate and you will be coughing over it.

Second, since it's sub-ohms that you've started with, you'll need half the levels that the old style types of tanks used to need as more nicotine is delivered via sub-ohm vaping.

Third, your body is going to go through several stages of withdrawals of all the other poisons and toxins that you've been getting from the cigarettes, simply: it's NOT just about the nicotine.

So between your body healing, getting rid of the tar and other crap, regrowing the hairs inside your airways, the detox and withdrawals of all that crap, it can take up to a month. This isn't the vaping that's doing it, just your system re-adapting and fixing itself... and it will cause the coughing as it wants to get rid of that layer, while the regrowth with make the airways more sensitive.

If you have been vaping (looking up 305 cigar cigarettes, showed me actual cigarettes) on a lesser type vape... then it's the nicotine levels that can affect you as per the same point 1 and 2 above.

Take smaller puffs for now, try a lower nicotine level.

Just hang on for the time being, it's like any "addiction", you need time to phase it out...

Other side effects of quitting smoking (BUT not everyone gets them, or only to a certain extent, everyone is different) are headaches, scratchy throat, diahrea, and such... but once you get through that phase, it's be easy, and in time, you'll look back and glad that you've quit.

Just puff as you need it, take it easy, not too deep inhales, this is more about the nicotine delivery than making clouds.. in time, you'll get better used to it, and may need to adjust your nicotine levels.

In my opinion, it is much easier to quit cigarettes with the readily available cig-a-like electronic cigarettes (like blu) and/or this simple high resistance CE4 kit. You can use high nicotine liquid with no coughing with the CE4. Save your Melo 3 for when you have made the transition down to vape juice with a nicotine level at or below 6mg/ml. That's how I did it.

Hi maltrix93. Welcome to the ECF.

Coughing could be caused by a Number of this. One of the Simplest is you might be Hitting your e-Cigarette too Hard/Fast. Try taking a Longer - Slower Hit.

Could also be that the Nicotine mg/ml level is Too High for that Atomizer. And or the PG Level of your e-Liquids is Higher than you like.

What mg/ml of Nicotine are you using? And what is the PG to VG Ratio of your e-Liquid(s)?

When charging my vape I'll smoke a cig if I get the erg but I'm mostly trying to vape don't want to waste ne money anymore let alone slowly kill myself lol.
Depending on the mod you got with the tank (Pico?), as long as it's a removable battery type, you should consider you should consider getting extra batteries, silicon sleeves for them for when you'd carry them around, and a charger, so that you always have charged on the go.

A battery it usually the price of a pack of cigarettes, and will be worth it 100x over. For the price of even a few packs of cigarettes, you could have at least 2 spare batteries and a charger.

Another factor, give temp. control a chance. It regulates the amount of "heat" for the coil, and provides a even vape. In wattage mode, the coil keeps climbing as you hold it until it hits the wattage limit. This could be part of the irritation.

The Melo 3 is a great tank for the simple fact that it's part of the Atlantis coil family, which means that you have over a dozen coils to choose from. And not only that, but these coils are very easy to rebuild, costing you pennies instead of dollars per coils use you get into rebuilding such coils.

Notes about batteries, beyond the very important : Respect these batteries, Lithium batteries are NOT those AA alkalines that you're used to.

1) buy from a reputable source, get actual brands such as LG, Samsung, Sony. All other brands such as "fire-something" the Aspire ones, etc. are all rewrapped rejects from the original makers... considered still usable, but not able to pass all the quality testing.

2) ALWAYS carry spare batteries in a protective sleeves

3) if any battery is damaged, do not use it, if the wrap is ripped even a bit, get it rewrapped correctly (or get some and learn how to do it). if anything causes a short/contact between the positive and negative poles, the battery will vent (spit out it's liquid) or overload/thermal runaway. (bad, really bad, from whooosh and fire or boom!).

The times you hear of bad things with e-cigarettes on the news, is always mishandled batteries, someone shorting it in their pockets or in their mech. mods, or exposing it to high heat (leaving it in the sun inside a car).

That approach can work for some people, but it really depends on a few things.

Will the person vape until they are over cigarettes and then move on from vaping also.. if yes, then yes.

Will the person stick with vaping, either they have more than a nicotine dependency but also have an oral fixation, or simply because they like/enjoy it, then no, it'll be money wasted as they'd outgrow the pen types very fast.

If anything, many people never "like to vape" (didn't anything for them) or found vaping to work for them because the pen type is all they tried and it just wasn't good enough to provide them with the levels of stimulation that they needed.

The Melo 3 is an easy to "tone down" tank with closing the airflow and using low wattage, while being sub-ohm, it still requires low nicotine liquids.

Since he's already got he Melo3 and whatever mod he's got (which I'd guess at the Pico), there's no reason to go with anything else at this point, plus, he has the full flexibility to increase the output should he need it.
