they are still made, each version is a limited edition produced in a set quantity. that you have to reserve before production.

the last one was a couple months ago and is pure silver. the starting price was around 1200 euro for the basic model.

the list filled up in no time at all.

If you ever see one for a reasonable price you better not blink or it's gone.

I seem to kind of remember there was some kind of internal problem (the people not the mod) and they stopped for a while, could be wrong.

Not really a true one, but my favorite mech is a sigelei 8w, which many compare to the caravela and has similar voltage drop (or lack thereof) if not the same quality of build.
That would be the key sentence. But then, we're talking about a sub $40 mech, vs. a plus $400, atheistically near perfect, mech. In complete agreement... the 8w, when properly set up has an excellent, low v-drop in the .03 range (as I recall, with an 18650 and a 1.0Ω load). Well worth the pittance a vendor like Vapor Tek charges for them.

I bought 3 8Ws, polished and heat-colored them all, modded the buttons for throw and fit magnets... and sold each for over $100. They were beautiful and worked like a much more costly mech.

Woah, 1200 euros think about that for a sec that's almost 1650 dollars! I get silver isn't cheap and I absolutely don't knock anyone who buys one, but wow months on a waiting list, a 1650 dollar hit and you can have this silver tube with a switch. Again not knocking anyone there is a market for everything if not Ferrari would be out of business. I LOVE the look of the Caravelas but I don't think I could ever justify that much, hell I think my wife would throw me out if I ever tried, lol.

Think $1650 is a lot for a mod? How about $3000 for an Otto Carter mod. Otto Carter

that's insane. Cool the guy has a dremel and the artistic skills of your average tattoo artist... then again, i suppose if a few people are dumb enough to waste their money, it probably only takes one or two for this guy to return his whole investment

Regardless of how one feels about high end mods and their prices, posting that people who buy these are dumb isn't what ECF is about, nor is it appreciated. These kinds of thread derailment attempts are getting very, very old. They'll stop. Don't make us take stronger actions, because that's exactly what's going to start happening with those kind of posts.

If you had any idea how hard that type of engraving work was to do, you would feel pretty silly for comparing it to a dremel'ed up tube.

Work of the level takes years of practice and a hand as steady as a surgeon. I would LOOOOOVE to see it replicated with your dremel.

    No hate brother, just saying..

Yea, just because you won't do it, you don't like it, or you think it is wrong, that is your opinion. You should keep it to yourself. Do you ever tell your mom that she is stupid? Same thing, don't be rude.

    My rant.

Just to get sort of back on track, Pedro (the gentleman who designs and builds the Caravela mods in Portugul) is a true artist. He happens to apply his genius to the craft of making mods, and (in my opinion) happens to do it better than anyone else on the planet. The ability to perform this kind of miracle, and the facility to appreciate the aesthetics of his creations (or of any artist for that matter) is one of the wonderful things that sets us uniquely apart from apes. For some people vaping is just the physical act of sucking vaporized nicotine into your lungs for a fix, but it can be an aesthetic experience as well. To each his own....

yeah no doubt, I think they're pure sex. The fact that I want them to be more available, is exactly why they're not.

Its not the only awesome looking mod, it just happens to pretty much get everything right, as opposed to most of the things right. LOTS of great mechs have a flaw. Not many people find a flaw in 'Velas.

Did you watch the video? he definitely isn't using a dremel. Seems like a LOT more work goes into etching into the metal than most would realize or appreciate.

Buying a mod like that...you definitely aren't paying for the mod....you are paying for the art.

Me personally? I don't want art. Not expensive art, anyway. I could go as far as Phiniac carto tanks....40 bux or so and they have some awesome stuff they can do, like frosted, or alien designs...that would be enough for me.

I guess I'm more of a practical type of person. I never buy anything unless I put in several hours (minimum) researching it....I'm a very, VERY picky consumer....and yet, I certainly don't mind paying the big bucks for a product that I think is worth it.

In fact, I almost never go "cheap".....perhaps that is the reason I spend so many hours researching EVERYTHING I buy, whether it is vape products, household products, automative, or any kind of appliance, gadget, or hobby related item. I'd rather spend a lot of money on ONE item at a time, that I KNOW will last, and do everything I want from it....then spend the same amount of money on 10 different items, that are of questionable build quality, etc.

But yea.....as much as I love vaping....I just couldn't spend $3,000 on a mod. In fact, unlike so many here, I wouldn't EVER spend more than $100 or so on a mod. Not saying they are overpriced.....because if people are willing to buy it for that price, they aren't....I'm just saying PERSONALLY, there isn't a single vape product on the market I'd be willing to pay more than $100-150TOPS for.

Especially considering there are so many WONDERFUL, durable, and amazingly designed and built products on the vape market for such reasonable pricing. :)
