So this has probably been covered, but I couldn't find anything about it. Every vaping system I've seen so far uses e-liquid. Is there a reason why we aren't using something like the Pax to just vape tobacco instead of "other" plant materials? It seems like at that rate there would be no need for PG or VG, and it'd be much less synthetic.

Thoughts here?

Just my opinion here. I think that if someone were to vape actual tobacco, they would have to dispose and reload quite frequently as it would probably lose its flavor fast. Carrying around a bag of tobacco would also be a hassle, not to mention the messiness with bits of tobacco leaf all over the your car, mod, pockets, living room, etc.

With liquids you can fill up the amount you want depending on how long you'll be vaping (say a whole day or maybe an evening) and you'll be done. Also, liquids open up a whole new world of flavors which I think many vapers find important.

I think it basically comes down to convenience and the option of different flavors.

Tobacco in itself isn't nearly as harmful as a lot of people think it is. It's all the other stuff that isn't tobacco in cigarettes, and the burning process, that'll kill you.

The main reason is that vaporizers like the Pax don't give anything like a real "smoking" experience, but vaping with juice does. And there's no reason vaping needs to involve anything synthetic. Plenty of us vape nothing but straight vegetable products, like juices only containing NET and VG.

Might be a smart idea. People vaped vs smoked some other plant before e-cigs became common and affordable. You'd probably want to study the health effects of that if that's your main concern. Tobacco is priced so high though that I'm not sure it would be as economic as e-liquid. E-liquid is just more convenient and more versatile but you're probably onto something that some people might prefer.

I think the problem may be that tobacco naturally contains, or develops carcinogens in the drying process or something like that. I think most tobacco at least in the US is flu cured or other heat methods and that causes carcinogens. I know in Sweden they use steam pasteurization on tobacco for their snus, which apparently leaves it with very little amounts of carcinogens. So I guess the problem would be getting tobacco cured in a way that it didn't have a bunch of carcinogens. Not sure if you could get and vape fresh, green tobacco, or if that would be free of anything harmful.

Much easier using an ecig device with juice 24-7 too, even at work and airports for the stealthy ones. If you're only smoking 1-2 cigs a day I guess it'd work with about the same health impact, but for many of us who used to tote 1, 2 or more packs of smokes a day the e-cig device makes more sense to calm the withdrawal.

THE WORST IDEA EVER, not only did i almost throw up, it tasted like i dried my own tobacco leaves and rolled them up LOL
