Why did nobody warn me!!

Hi all, I discovered e-cigs by accident almost when playing on Xbox Live of all things!

A friend of mine mentioned he was waiting for his e-cig to charge and of course I was like WTF did you say? Haha, so anyway lately (the last year or so) I have been working through mentally preparing myself to begin reducing how much a I smoke with an end goal of quitting completely.

It was doing my head in because I still enjoy the act of smoking, its been part of my life since about the age of 13 (I am 38) and my life sadly did revolve around the addiction.

So I spoke to this friend of mine about the basics and what he uses and why and did some research only to find out that we cant be sold nicotine carts here in New Zealand, wtf is up with that!!!

I made a decsion to check it out, found a retailer who sells the really basic ones and is somehow selling them with the 16mg dosage?? I bought one and a couple of the 5 packs of cartomisers.

Since then (2 days ago) I have dropped from about 25 analogs to about 3 instantly, I just dont want analogs and my wife is absolutely floored with this out of the blue change and said she never thought she would see the day that I gave up smoking (not quite, but very close) and to be honest neither did I.

The basic one I am using at present needs constant recharging and the carts dont last long at all, at present I am going through 2 a day@ $4 each, this makes it more expensive than roll your own tobacco, and in NZ a 50gram pack of tobacco costs about $48 NZ, crazy expensive now!

I bought the basic one to try it out, I knew from the first draw this was revoloutionary, so I will keep the cheaper one, and once my order arrives will begin lending it to friends that smoke so they can judge for themselves.

I ended up buying an ego-t and all the fruit and probably enough juice samples to last 3-4 months for about the cost of smoking for about a month. Cant wait for my order to arrive

I have never smoked so little for so long (2.5 days lol) and can feel the difference already!!!!

Nobody warned me it may end my love affair with tobacco, and I really dont mind, in fact I am excited I can smoke without the smoke!!!

Im still working on the guilt free thing, haha, not quite guilt free with the damn expense of the cartomisers, now I am afraid of having to smoke "normally" when I run out while waiting for my order.

Nicotine: Yes it seems like a silly rule they enforced when someone used the "wrong" wording in advertising, but they were in fact 100% correct from my own experience.

They ..... on and on about people giving up smoking and yet pull from sale the one thing that in my very short experience could make a smoker use a much healthier alternative.

Yes smokers in NZ are very much treated as scum IMO, and it will only get worse with more open air bans and so on.

The government has put tobacco prices up (taxes) by about 20% in the last year with more to come, hitting most of us really really hard. Pack of 20's is about $16!!

Welcome SDMagoo. Whoo-hoo for another NZ vapor on the forum. Vaping in NZ can be a bit of a challenge. I've been vaping for about a year and half now. Yes, it is silly that they can't sell nic juice in NZ. I heard they just brought in some still penalties for possessing nic juice over in Aus. I've had no issues with nic containing packages getting through customs. I have even had 2 packages opened by bio-security and they were sent on with all the contents. The worst thing is probably the shipping costs, but it's worth getting of the cigarettes. The Aus sub forum has a list of companies that ship to us. Good luck!

Well done SD. Terrible that it's so difficult to get your supplies in NZ, but you've obviously found the way. I still feel guilty about the ecigs being so easy even after nearly a year of vaping and no analogues at all

No kidding SDMagoo. The costs of tobacco seem to only be going up worldwide. Glad you found the forum and thank you for sharing your thoughts. It's pretty ridiculous that e cigarette cartridges are banned in New Zealand. Hopefully, that will change sooner rather than later. I have a Joye Ego as well. I've noticed that the vapor production is much more satisfying than other leading brands.

Hi, I'm a Kiwi too. Welcome to ECF. I accidently quit smoking 6 months ago after I bought a crappy e-cig from a pharmacy here in China. A week later I bought an ego kit, and have never smoked another anolog since. Vaping is so much more enjoyable! I recently started using LR cartomizers -WOW, the vapor production is amazing, huge clouds! Happy vaping!

Count me in as another smoker who unwittingly quit after buying an eGo Tank. It's been 15 days since my first eGo battery came off the charger, which was the last time I had an actual cigarette. Two days ago I gave away my last carton. I'm done with the cigs and now only vape!

I didn't see any reference in this thread so I just wanted to make sure that you are saving your 'used' cartomizers - they can be refilled! Also save the rubberized 'condom' ends that come on new cartomizers -- you'll be using those to fill/refill your cartos! Once your ejuice samples arrive, you can begin refilling your used cartos with 'like' or similar flavours.

Dormouse, I used to play WOW myself but quit right befor Lich king came out. I had some pretty decked out toons but had to quit it was just eating up to much time and i had a daughter on the way. I still miss playing though.

My cough was really only just starting to develop, what a shame it never will now!!

In fact after only 3 days I feel so much better I am going to do anything I can to avoid an analog where I can, I can now feel the difference quite noticeably, I feel a little cloudy and slow after an analog, maybe slightly sick, but that was pretty normal, just as I said, I notice it more.
