Why Did you buy an e-cig?

Why did you buy your first e-cig?

  • Wanted to use it to quit smoking.

  • Wanted a healthier way to smoke.

  • Wanted to smoke where smoking is banned.

  • Like e-smoking better than anolog smoking.

  • Just thought it was cool.

  • Other, please explain.

I have COPD and it scared me when I found out from being hospitalized. I really didn't have a choice. I'm too young to die. My life just started again. A nurse told about electric cigarettes. Started googling and watched videos. I haven't had a real cig since I go one. Hopefully I can quite but I enjoy the role play of smoking. If I do quit, I'll still smoke 0 Nicotine for the pleasure of it.

I checked "other" because my first thought was that I could get some nicotine when I'm with my dad. He's that horrible "anti" type who used to lecture restaurant managers before they banned smoking in restaurants here. And I also got a new car, with no ashtray, and I didn't want the mess and smell in there. We saw the e-cig on our local news, talking about it being a way around the smoking bans. I googled and here I am. I had no idea I'd be quitting analogs! But I've now been over 24 hours without one and I think I'll keep heading in the right direction.

I got mine out of curiosity, mostly--I stumbled across an ad for one of 'em on YouTube last June, and after 28 years of smoking (25 cigs a day) I was feeling a little anxious to cut down on my smoking.

I figured it might help me reduce the analogs to 15-20 instead if it was everything it claimed to be. (But I doubted it.)

Apparently it was all that and then some--after using it for a week, I walked away from real cigs for good, & I've never looked back...

(I honest to God didn't think it would be that easy.)

Just like Foxy..it was the smell on my clothes, hands and hair!
Really got the point when in China on business and after smoking in our hotel non-stop in preparation for those 20 hrs non-smoking, then smoking in that god awful "steel box" at the airport..I let my hair down in the airplane and this huge whiff of ashtray emanated all around me..

Somehow that moment in time and with winter coming , it was enough for me to really look into these e-cigs at least for travelling and work..the rest , stopping analogs just came as a surprise..

Spotted Ruyan Vegas by chance on the internet, I think it was tech news or tech site.
Looked it up found this site and decided I would either smoke healthier or give up using this method.

I have been smoke free but vaping since late October 2008 .
3 smoking related deaths in the family in the last 5 years have given me an extra incentive, but I have found this the easiest method so far to give up tobacco cigarettes.

Must give a special thank you to the service from E-Cigs.co.uk, Online Store & Electronic Cigarette E Liquid - Totally Wicked E Liquid Premier Electronic Cigarette fluid & Packaday who helped me with products & liquid. Also members of the forum for help & advice.

People in Walsall NHS have an £30 cash incentive opportunity to give up smoking, if you can stick to an e-cig for 1 month, This would pay for your initial purchase.

Merry Christmas & a Healthy new year.

brought mine for when I am working inside at venues where smoking is now banned. When it arrived I was exspecting to be explaining to my wife why we had wasted more money on some silly device that didnt work. That 5 days later I was using the e-cig full time and was not smoking the normal 50 a day was completely unexspected. That I have not smoked any tobacco for 40 days is realy bizarre as I have not made any decision to stop smoking and would have no problem about smoking tobacco if the circumstance arose

Ok I voted other. Several choices could apply.

I heard about them a few months ago but thought it was just a novelty thing and didn't research them at all. More recently I heard about them again and thought I would do some research.

Using to help quit? Yes, I guess that was the deciding factor for me but as I did more and more research, and after reading almost every forum post on this board, I thought, why not.

With the research and reading I discovered the bonus factors, vape anywhere, anytime. A cleaner delivery system for nicotine, no tar and all the other stuff

Only 2 days in but vaping is far more enjoyable for me and those around me. I don't have to stand out in the yard to vape in the rain.

This really is the 21st century way for smoker's to smoke. ;)

Amen to that. If I exchange "cardiovascular issues" for "COPD" and "a doctor (urologist:D)" for "nurse", you told my story in perfect detail.

My reasons are pretty much all of the above. mostly I've been feeling like crap smoking regular cigs, I live in a smoke free house and it's ... cold outside! Also recently unemployed, so I figured not smelling like smoke will help in interviews. I worked at a place where smoking was not discouraged, I could smoke as much as I wanted, I was there for 10 years, so I'm pretty hooked, I like nicotine, I like gadgets, I like charging batteries, I like little collections of bottles, I like smoking, but it doesn't like me.

A guy let me try one at a gun show a couple of weeks ago. It looked like a regular cigarette (super-mini?) and I thought it was pretty cool, but he wanted $150 for it, and the cartridges and batteries were pricey.

But, I'm a techy gadget freak and I caught the bug from the demo.

So, I found this forum, read a whole bunch, and ordered 2 901bs, two penstyles, 1 "bling" cigar, and tons of juices and accessories. $600 or so later:oops: I haven't smoked a real cigarette since. I can even "vape" at work!

I've gotten nothing but good reactions from everybody, nobody has tried to stop me from "vaping" anywhere, (including stores, restaurants, bars, malls...) and if I sold the things I could have unloaded at least 200 of them since I started with all the interested people that bug me about it when they notice I'm enjoying my drink inside the bar while "smoking" while everyone else is freezing their butts off here in the Denver winter.

I pointed them to Puresmoker, since Steve has been the fastest and most helpful dealer I've done business with so far. I wish I was selling these things, I'd be a wealthy man from the interest people have shown.

I LOVE these things. Still waiting on my "bling" though. I'm excited. Total Blade Runnerish e-smoke device.

Voted other.

Was looking for way to cut down (not quit) my smoking habit. Been smoking for 10 plus years and smoke 12~16 red per day. While I know I'm addicted to nicotine, I also know that most of the time when I light a cig, it's because of habit rather then actually craving for nicotine.

I often ask myself why isn't there a device that I can put inside my mouth and puff out smoke without the nicotine and one day I came across an article on e-cig.

Right now, with the help of e-cig, I've cut down on my red. All I need now is more batteries or a better power source. :D

I sw a news item about e-cigs and was intrigued... did the Google search thing and found this forum. Ever since my first e-cog arrived I haven't touched an analog cig and have not missed it one bit....for all the usual reasons; the stink, the 400+ toxic chemicals in real cigs, etc. And i still get all my cravings satisfied.
Maybe this is the holy grail. Maybe not. But so far so good!
