I have been having problems with flooding in my cartos. The only thing I can come up with is my hole is too big causing faster wicking causing flooding. I use a 1 hole carto, self punched. The juice I vape is 50/50. The tank is an Ibtanked setup and I also use their carto punch. Any other suggestions or am I on the right track. If it is the hole size, what size should it be?

I have several recommendations in my blog that indirectly relate to this issue, but I'll go over a few things here. Without asking additional questions...

I hope you are not filling the tank with the carto fully inserted in the tank and the top cap off of the tank. When you place the top cap onto the tank, the suden change in pressure in the tank forces too much juice into the carto and floods it. If not filling this way, disregard this paragraph.

Since you are using a new tank, we'll just assume that the o-rings are still intact. I hope you picked up the drip tip/tank tool offered by IBTanked that protects your o-rings each time you insert a carto into the tank. https://www.ibtanked.com/accessories/tool/black-anodized-refilling-drip-tip-detail If you don't understand how this tool works, let me know and I will show you.

Vaping with a cartotank might be a little different than with other devices. The carto depends upon being replenished with additional liquid from the tank via suction each time you take a puff. If you are a "hard" puffer, more liquid enters the carto than needs to, eventually leading to flooding. The best method is to suck using gentle pressure, long 3-5 second draws into your mouth, not a hard 2 second draw. Give the juice adequate time to get to where it needs to go.

Since you are punching your own cartomizers, it's possible that you are making too large of a hole or too deep of a hole (damaging the center air hole and allowing liquid into it).

Also, tool-punched carto's invariably becomed deformed from the punching process. They become oval, not round. This deformity can lead to damage to the o-rings and result in leaking or flooding. Using laser-drilled cartomizers eliminates these issues and they wick just as well as the tool-punched cartos.

I pulled my old carto out of my tank. I made numerous mistakes now that I realize now. I made the hole way too big, I did press the cap on after filling. I punched a new carto, being more careful, filled it the proper way, no leaking and gurgling. Problem solved. Thanks Baditude for the help.

That's why I'm here. :D Glad to solve your problem. Enjoy your cartotank.

And thanks for the feedback so that others can learn from your mistakes, and confirming that I'm not just spouting out junk like a know it all.

i recently had similar problems with my ibtanked tank...filled my tank like i usually do...the carto flooded and stay flooded the whole night...it was one of my worst experiences with a tank so far

i think my problem was or atleast my theory is the tank slides way to much on the carto and i think the sliding might have been pushing excess liquid into the holes....it also appears whenever i touch the drip tip that it's pushing liquid into the carto holes...hopefully when i finally sit down to play it this problem doesn't continue

Get prepunched Ikenvapes!! They are awesome! I love love love them with my Ibtank or Phiniac! Clean taste perfect smooth draw.. And tons and tons of vapor!!! I'm a happy girl :)

I much prefer a happy girl to an unhappy one. Been there, done that, hated it. :D

Glad you are enjoying your tanks with IKE's. I told you they were great. ;)

I'm always perplexed when I read of owners of an IBTanked having issues of them being slippery on the carto. I currently have seven of these. Six use the acrylic end caps and one has the stainless caps. None of my tanks are slippery.

Curious if anyone else is have the above issue of slippiness?

yeah i dunno...i bought one because of all the good reviews and my other glass tank was too wide for my new devices...but i'm not liking these tanks at all...i just unscrewed the tank to empty the liquid into a bottle to see if i could fix the problem...the drip tip stayed in and the carto pulled right out of the tank spilling liquid all over.....sad part is when i got the tank and noticed it sliding...it still vaped really well and had a nice taste...same carto and only two tanks later and these problems arise

Gotti, contact IBTanked from the link of their home page and explain to them exactly what you have been experiencing. Being that they are so conscientious of customer support, I believe they will come up with a solution for you.

thanks, i didn't even think about doing that.....last night i decided i'm going to try and find o rings that could sit on top of the carto that sticks out the top of the tank to fill the gap between top of the tank and drip tip to see if that will prevent any sliding that could occur

With acrylic No. It's very very snug. With SS it's not as tight as I'd like. Same goes for most of my tanks regardless of vendor.
