Why do I keep getting hot spots?

My coils seem to only last a day or two before I get a hotspot or multiple hotspots. This isn't normal is it? I've been using 28g kanthal, 10 wraps dual coils. Usually about .8 ohms. I vape it at about 40 watts. I've got an IPV3 with a Plume Veil and I forget what brand batteries. But I know they're good for down to .02 ohms.

The only things I can think of are you had hotspots to begin with, you didn't tighten your leads down enough (or the screws are backing out) and they slipped, allowing the coil to reshape itself. Or some type of blunt force is wreaking havoc on the coil.

Another thought I just had, being too forceful while wicking can change the coil.

No batteries are good down to .02, I think you mean .2. 28g is flimsy so you have to be careful when you manipulate it especially with wicking as the guy above said.

28g is pretty flimsy to be honest. I have all 3 gauges 24 / 26 / 28

24 gauge i can basically wick it as hard as I can pretty and the coil wont move

26 gauge is somewhat the same just have to be more careful

28 gauge will move while your wicking no matter what unless your super gentle.

Instead of going out and buying a new spool of kanthal. Maybe you should try using up your existing 28g...

Twisted 28g from what i remember basically made it as stiff as 26g wire.
