Why do I like a cheap clearomizer over a Protank 3?!? Help...?

I think you may have hit on the answer when you said you like a tighter draw. More air would create a more harsh hit also dual coils create more vapor. It's a double whammy. I prefer certain juices in the CE4 clearos that I bought when I first started vaping. Lots of variables to consider.

More air = less harsh, it wouldn't cause a harser hit.
Tighter draw = harser hit.

And for the other questions i think they're already answered. :)

About modding the PT3 (mini)... It already crossed my mind. I would need to build two 4 Ohm coils to make a 2 Ohm atty. There is only one little problem... I've never did that before and although I feel that I'm able to do something like that, I have no experience and what can be found on the net is rather vague... I happen to have some kenthal A1 wire but its 29 gauge (0.30mm) and I think thats WAY to thick to build a high Ohm setup in a limited space like the PT3. Maybe I'll get my hands on 32 gauge wire and try something like 10 turns to make a higher Ohm setup.

You might want to just rebuild build your atomizers with a single coil. That's what I do on my MPT3. I'm sure you can easily fit a 2 ohm coil in there with 29 ga. I use 30 ga and have plenty of room.

This, and add a bit of extra cotton ontop of the coil to fill out the empty space. Not much just a little.

I just did that... well not 2 Ohms but 1.8.

I did a single coil rebuild... 29 gauge kanthal A1... 8/7 turns on a 2.5mm screwdriver... compressed the coil and used 1mm ekwool to wick it below, twice inside and 1 extra on top (four strings total). So far no leaks. The sound is a little louder i.e. I can hear some sizzeling during my vape, vapor production is on par with the old atty (would like to have a little more though) but flavor seems intensified. I tried several settings from 6W up to 15W but now on 8W/10W and it seems ok :)

Lol true.

Actually I just added a few drops of VG to my liquid and the result is much better. I also put the old stock atty in (1.5Ohm) and now I start noticing the big diference. Kinda wierd though... the stock dual coil 1.5 atty seems way way less powerful than this hand made 1.8 coil... shouldn't the stock coil have some how more punch due to the lower ohms?

All in all I love my rebuild, I'm so proud :) Going to let the mPT3 sit all night full and check for leaks in the morning but for now, not a single drop and no dry hits either... have to get my hands on more old style atties before they vanish for good.

Best regards
Tony

I hope I'll get there :)

Kinda cool rebuilding your coils eventhough its just a Kanger tank but hey, its a start!

Next rebuild I'm going to try 7/6 coil to get the Ohms around 1.5. Also have some 32 gauge wire but 29 is working great right now. In the meanwhile, my mini aerotank should arrive tomorrow. I think I'm going to use the mPT3 outside and the aero at home... or maybe the other way around... no more plastic for me :)

hmm... thats something that didn't occured to me... I have a couple of 510 tips (two metal ones from totally wicked) and a black plastic one... don't remember where that came from... have to try them out... if I manage to pull out the original tip... I didn't like the loose way it was holding onto the tank so I swaped the white silicon o-ring with a bulkier black one... was a perfect fit for a couple of days until the o-ring expanded and now the tip is almost unremovable unless I rip the o-ring in the process.

I will check I.D though to see if I like it more tight :)

Just a small update: the mPT3 survived with my hand made coil through the night without a single drop or leak. I'm enjoying my rebuild each minute more which has created a new problem today... It seems I can't stop sucking on it all day long... already went through four tanks and my collegues at work started to ask me if I had some sexual whishes because I wouldn't put that damm thing down LOLL. :)

If I can get something so nice from a mPT3, I wonder what I might get from a Kayfun V2.1 mini?? Oh God, please hide my credit card... :D

Wife has two MPT3s and I use a single 3mm 28ga coil @ 1.8 (~8 wraps). Then I use Sugar N' Creme cotton yarn. 2 pieces through the coil, 2 on top. Fold a single piece of yarn around a scrap of Kanthal and feed it through the coil fold it over again for the flavor wick. Trim it (essentially make the single into four wicks) and run it on 8-10 watts like you said. I wanted consistency and ease of building, that is why I use the Coiling Gizmo and yarn.

I have two Mini Aerotank bases (v2.0) on the way, Wife likes a tighter draw and I am the exact opposite.

Thats nice to hear. I did almost the same: 2.5mm ID instead of 3mm and ekowool instead of yarn but I pushed them as a single... first through the coil (bended in two), then just like an E one end up and another end below the coil... at the end when I cut it, 4 strands... :)

I have a aerotank mini coming in (should be here in the next 10 minutes or I will chase that postman all over the city) but the idea of adding a aerotank base to a mPT3 is very interesting... need to check the aerotank out first though :)

Yeah Wife stole my Mega and adjusted it to half and loves it. I was considering drilling a bigger hole in it for more air flow.

Best part about the airflow controller is the level of customization and preventing juice on the battery. Worth it to me (I NEED my Mega back!)

I think we collectively have found the optimum setup for this tank.

I can't catch the guy :( He knows the city way better than me and keeps on timing his crossing so that I always end up with a red light and he just runs of into another secondary street... never thought I would have to play hide and seek with the postman because of a clearo tank... jeez... am I an addict?

About the Nic level and such... yep, I noticed that too... from a certain nic level, everything just tastes bitter. I'm cutting down my 24mg bottles with vg down to 18mg... more vapor and less harsh on the throat. Haven't coughed in 4,5 days which is great :)

Back to the chase... I'll will win this

Bah... he outsmarted me. I finally gave up. I really feel depressed... they even sent me a text message stating delivery until 19h... its 23h and nothing :( :(

Going to complain tomorrow. If I pay express delivery, I should have express delivery... grrr

back to the mPT3... still going strong. The liquid I have right now (super menthol) is a bit too much for me so I cut it down to 16mg with VG. So much vapor my wife started to complain about the "fog" lol but on the other hand I feel my lungs heavier... VG seems to acumulate in the lungs easier than PG... have to experiment and maybe next time cut it down with a mixture of 50/50... would reduce nicotine but only add half of the vG that it does now.

My wife (who is a very ocasional smoker... maybe 1 or 2 cigs per day) refuses to try it out... not even one draw. Sure its her option and I don't push her (only asked her once) but you should be happy your wife shares the same "hobby" with you... at least you can discuss e-liquid flavors and vapor production. ;)

My Wife is a menthol smoker, and for the past few years I have been rolling her cigarettes. Menthol tobacco with a menthol filter. She likes it cold! She used to smoke Marlboro Menthol and before that Newport.

I picked up vaping to help her out (I quit years ago), but it has grown into a hobby for me. I enjoy it quite a bit, but she still has a few analogs per day. One less cigarette is one less, right?

She will talk about it somewhat, but not geek out like me. Luckily her brother will, he hasn't smoked a cigarette in 2 weeks. We used to talk about subwoofer ohms, now we talk about PV coil ohms. [emoji41]

I hope you get your package soon, I hate to wait for something that I bought and paid for! On the other hand, I hate to get gouged by the local vape shop just so I can have it now. First World problems I guess....
