I've used 24and 28 gauge Kanthal. Not extremely sure about the diameter. I wrap on a precision screwdriver. The set came with 3 straights and 3 philips. I use the middle straight one. I use rayon wicking. The coil looks perfect. Nice and tight. Burns from inside out. When I go above 50 watts though the coil will start flowing from the inside and poof. I have been at this since Saturday. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Keep it nice and saturated. I have also read on here that when using Rayon you need to make it tighter in the coil compared to cotton because the Rayon doesn't expand like the cotton does. That could lead to a hot spot on the coil and would cause it to heat up unevenly and then cause the wick to burn and get a dry nasty taste.

Turn down your power or add more wraps.

Your coils are getting too hot due to having too much power for the wire volume. Increase the wire volume (adding more wraps or using a lower AWG wire with same wraps) or lower the power.

I think deep down I knew this. That's what I will do. I appreciate the info guys.
