The main thing is what you already mentioned. Watering down your juice, lets face it some people are picky about the small stuff and dont you dare do anything to mess with their juice.

As with anything PV, if it works for you, why question it. But that being said, if it was too wet, you could have issues which might lead to problems. Say you dont get any vapor so you hold it down till you do then POP. Probably not as big an issue with cartomizers as atomizers, but if you were taught to dry your atomizers overnight, you're probably gonna do the same when you clean your cartomizers.

Then again most would ask why would you wash a cartomizer in the first place?

But as I said in PV land, it's what makes YOU happy that counts.

I'm asking because I keep seeing posts about using rice, silica, etc. to dry them out. When I try a nasty tasting liquid with a cartomizer and want to get the taste out, I blow out as much of the aforementioned nasty stuff, rinse, soak in vodka, rinse again, blow as much water out as I can and let it dry overnight. They may be very slightly damp, but not wet at all. I haven't had any issues with the juice being watered down when I do this.

I just wanted to find out if I'm clueless and there was a serious reason for making absolutely sure cartomizers are completely bone dry before reusing or simply the personal preference of those who consider it important.

Thanks for the replies!

Your not Clueless but you may be missing some of the intent of completely drying a carto.

If I am going to use the carto immediately after washing them then no, I am not concerned about getting it completely dry. But if I am not going to use the carto for 3 or 4 days then I Do want it dry so the chance of mold or mildew is reduced.

The Bag-O-Rice does another thing for me. It keeps the washed out cartos organized so I know that they have been used Before and have been washed out. Keeps them in one place instead of all over the house drying.

Thanks for cluing me in! These are particularly good reasons.

One of the main reasons you want it to be as dry as possible is that it takes more heat to vaporize water than it does ejuice. You will get a reduction in performance and put a strain on the coil until the water is gone. Slightly damp should be fine though.

Happy Vaping!!!

Second that. Got my first nasty prefilled cartomizers and nasty just didnt cover it so into the wash cycle. Let dry overnight, but forgot about the ol rinse first/then soak/then rinse again, so they still had some twang (also discovered it is equally important to at least rinse the condoms/end pieces too otherwise the taste can linger and get on your lips immediately upon reuse)

Was in a hurry when I redid them and wanted to see if correct method had worked any better than first attempt. Filled with 0 nic/unflavored VG so as not to waste any more real juice and although they no longer had the nasty taste, just didnt quite vape right until I put them on a 5V PT and eventually they returned to normal vape. Again was in a hurry so maybe could have shook a little more water out of them and not had the issue. Also didnt put but about .5 ml of VG in so that probably didnt help matters either.

I think I love the idea of using the rice as a way to keep recycled units fresh until they return to the rotation. Always worried about every little detail and the last thing I want to do is go through the trouble of cleaning a batch, only to have them 'spoil' on me.

Good news is that although I still cant taste good juice, I can taste something so maybe taste buds will come back eventually.

I tried refilling a damp carto just now and it works fine.

You just need to give the carto a good blow through both ends for a minutes, and draw inwards a few times on the battery end.

The first few vapes were not very exciting but after a minute its back to normal :)
The flavor strength seems normal as well, so I guess any water that was in the material vaped away.
