Why does it seem like most REO users vape high VG juice?

I've always thought that the "default" mix is 80/20 PG/VG. But ever since I got into REOville, it seems most folks vape at far higher VG, some even at 100%. I wonder why that is?

Is it something about more VG that makes it "better" for the "pros"?

I understand you get more cloud with VG, but wouldn't it kill the flavor and TH?

Not sure if that observation is true, otherwise I havent noticed it. I thought 50/50 or 60/40 seems to be the norm these days. I have some 100% VG juices and they definitely lack flavor and throat hit compared to PG mixes. Sometimes they seem to have a noticeable "VG" type flavor. In my opinion, VG vapors seem to be either cloud chasers, people with allergies to PG, or just choose VG because it makes them feel that it's somehow safer health wise. I tried VG juices when I learned that PG was used in anti freeze but made an educated decision that it's just as safe as VG.

VG tends to work better with bottom feeders because of it's thicker viscosity and the way that works with the tubes.

With thinner PG liquids, you have to be more cautious with squonking or you'll have an eruption of squonked juice flowing out of the chamber on your hands. Also, with thinner PG liquids you may run into some "auto-feeding" issues in the summer time when going from cold air conditioned places to the hot outdoors. Using a reducer tube helps alleviate the problem.

I use 90% VG mixes because I prefer the "lung/mouth feel" of the vapor. The fact that VG works best in bottom feeders was just a lucky bonus when I came to Reoville. lol

i think the squonk system and the small chambers of the rba's work so well to produce the best flavour on the planet even with 100%vg...
with vg if you need more TH you raise the coil and if thats not enough you add more pg... thats the way i look at it and plus the psychological effect of the vape exiting the mouth outweighs zilch....

just a little side note... and im sorry if i upset any Fatty fanboys out there but i can get better taste from my little rba's and the Fatty is classed as a very good tasting system, one of the best

I have a theory on that. I think early on for alot of us using high VG or 100% vg, we went llooking for a better system than carto tanks. I personally started vaping Boba's 100VG after the first couple of weeks vaping and it just is so thick it did not play well in alot of tank systems and such for me. I went on the hunt for something better, found another bottom feeder and realized this was the solution for me, then went looking for a durable bottom feeder and have been in Reoville since then. I now do 95% DIY and vape 80vg-100%vg Boba's is the only vendor juice I still occasionly buy.

I think most start out near 80/20 due to PG carrying flavor, and when you first get started, taste buds are on the fritz from smoking, so you kinda need that sort of mix. then adjust to suit your preferences, or find your perfect vape, by trying other mix ratios.

I've found 50/50 works best for me. all personal preference.

I agree with Karmakatie, I believe the people who love VG like me found REO and never looked back. I used to use a REO a long time ago then sold it and bought a DNA20 mod. Love the mod but it just was not worth carrying a bottle everywhere with me and dripping a few drops. So I came back. Love Boba's and also El Kamino from Good Life both are VG. Now it is true that with PG comes flavor but Boba's and El Kamino are my favorite flavor so no biggie to me. Also I tried PG Hype yesterday from Alien and its really good too but I’m not sure what the PG/VG ratio is.

I tried the high pg juices when I first started vaping and after a couple weeks my throat got so sore and irritated. I went to the ER because I thought something was terribly wrong. After that I quit for a few months then came back to 100% vg with no problems. I have adjusted a few times and anything over 30% pg kills my throat.

Ha, funny observation! I don't even have my REO yet but I definitely vape high VG juices. 70-100 VG or I feel like I just may die. (Okay that's a bit dramatic - but my first experience with a juice, which had to be 100PG, left me feeling that way.) Then I googled, before I found this forum, high VG juices and found Velvet Cloud. The only PG that does not bother me is Nicoticket's. I got an Ahlusion order yesterday 70/30PG and no issues yet either.

I stopped buying any eliquid once I got proficient at DIY. When I started vaping I was buying 80/20, when I started DIY I did some experimenting and found that 70/30 is where my perfect flavor is. I think what ratio any of us use is not based solely on the Reo but on individual variables. Just my :2c:

Russ....prob a dumb question, but what does unflavored nic taste like??

At 12 - 24 mg In a ratio of 70%VG or higher - as close to a Marlboro light as I can remember :)

It's the kindest juice on your gear too - wicks last easily a week, no ghosting and rinses away in water :)

Mine, too. It also feels like my lungs get sore somehow. Pg and I are not on the best terms. :-(

I don't really know ......

I do know that back in the day .... 2010 :D when I became a REOnuat folks here were smitten with AVE juices which are all high or totally VG. Ben the owner was (is) a REOnaut and our mod master vaped his juices so we all tried it. He was one of the first quality juice companies that I recall back then.

I've stuck with him since and still vape a lot of AVE juices (Boba's and Hype) .....

But I can vape anything from all PG to all VG ....... doesn't matter to me as long as I like the taste.
