Its your brain adapting to repetitive stimulation. Same reason why your own farts dont smell nearly as bad as others or why staring at a specific color with one eye will alter the whitepoint balance of that eye for a while.

There are a few ways to deal with this effect: Flavor enhancing compounds such as ethyl maltol will delay the loss of flavor. Palette cleansers such as toothpaste will remove or otherwise negate the particles left in your mouth that cause a significant portion of the repetition making you somewhat more sensitive to the flavors again. In the end though the only thing that cures this is time, vape something else for a while and make sure to clean the atty from any residue of the old stuff since even though you might not taste it, its sticky stuff and will still be present.

Gotta switch up your flavors instead of sticking to one. I have a few favorites that I tend to vape longer than others. When the flavor starts to get "muted", I swap out the tank for another one that has a completely different flavor juice. I usually have 4 or 5 tanks on the go with different flavored juice in 'em.

You will quickly find "just one" is no where near enough to be satisfying. I chased that dragon with butterscotch. Vaped it non-stop for 5 months. By the end of those five months, I was doing some insane things, like adding "FIVE EXTRA FLAVOR SHOTS!" and then spiking it with even more flavoring... By the end, I was vaping NOTHING that tasted like butterscotch.

I've found I have to rotate flavors. Everyone at work makes fun of me: I have four to seven mods at any given time with different flavors sitting out. I pick and choose whichever strikes me at the moment.

How do you guys recommend to clean and flub out the flavor to switch to a new one besides reworking?? For example on a protank with stock silica wicks?

If I don't have another tank, though I normally carry at least 2. I just rinse out the tank and coil, dry the coil connection thoroughly, and plug it up for a dry-ish burn. By dry-ish, I mean I fill the tank, put the base on, and then I take a few primer puffs and start vaping it but lightly. It hits really weak for the first 4 or 5 hits and then the water burns off as it wicks so after about 5 hits, the flavor catches up.

I've tried several different flavors and didn't like any of them well enough to put them in my rotation. So I have two flavors that I really like and vape one until the flavor starts to mute then switch to the other one. When it starts happening again I repeat and repeat and repeat. Seems to work.

I have found that if you use a carto if you pull long hard drags instead of puffing like a pipe or trying to start a 1/2 lit analog the taste eventually dulls out or even worse you get the horrible burnt/chemical taste...all part of the technique I suppose

After a year of sampling all the fruit, nut coffee, beverage flavors with no satisfaction(good juice, good flavor, not giving me something I really want to vape) I started trying all the hyped juices. Now I know why they are so beloved. The complex and unique juices really satisfy and give me something I really want to vape. Most of these juices are intense flavors that stay consistent and never get muted. Right now I'll keep Boba's, Pluid,AO,Khlorine, and unicorn blood in rotation and never get tired of vaping them.
