I am re filling cartomizers would this be the problem?

I have run out of Eonsmoke loaded 18mg carts and am filling them with Cloud9 Winston 18mg.

Sometimes it tastes fine other times it tastes really sour?

I have over 30 used once cartomizers to re fill.

Also when factory loaded the carts last around 8 hours, refilled with Cloud9 only about 3 hours?

Each cart is taking around 20-25 drips of juice to fill and at that rate it may be cheaper to buy the pre loaded carts that last a lot longer.

Also my Eonsmoke pre loaded carts give off heaps more vape even more than my old ego t with a drip tip?

I have been informed that Eonsmoke are kr808-1 screw on batteries and really happy with them,I import the carts from USA to Australia and am now a bit worried why they give of so much vape?

Any advise?

Cheers

Den

Hi Den,
I'm not sure if I have this right, but it sounds like the cartos had one kind of juice and you're refilling them with another? If that's the case then you won;t completely get rid of the taste of the first juice.
Can't account for them not lasting as long with Cloud9, except perhaps they are not made to last long. Also you may be getting dry hits, or a slight burnt taste as the cartos run out of juice.
I don't know how much your prefilled cartos cost. It may be cheaper to buy some blank 808 cartos that have a good reputation.
Kanger 808 cartomizers are very good. Smokless Image 808 cartomizers are also very good. I've tried both of those, as well as other cartos. Those two are bottom coil, harder to burn and vape well.

If you want to try cleaning the cartomizers you have this method works for me:

I just boil them twice for 15 minutes and then leave them to dry. Can take 3-4 days to dry properly.

Thanks,I didnt know you had to clean out the old juice first! makes sense given i am re filling them with a different juice and flavour!

When I first started vaping I bought cartos and they were foul,I got them from an Australian supplier and didnt realize they were supplied empty!

I was sucking on burning wad for a few days lol,I then switched to a drip tip so have never filled cartos before.

Do you know the lifespan of the kr808-1 batteries? I have 4 but may need to buy a few more spares?

Thanks again

Den

Lifespan of the 808 batteries will vary a bit with quality. I have some I've had for 5 months now that still work fine. They say 300 charges but who counts charges? I'd say you should get at least a few months from each one, and if you are rotating between them they should last ages.
I'm not sure if you want to buy more of the ones you have or are asking if there are others - so what follows is in case you are asking about others.
Smokeless Image make good quality 808 batteries called Volts. The 78mm are 320mah - so a bit longer life before charging than some other 808s. Those are slim and still ciggish size. People here in NZ and in Australia use them. Actually it was a video by an Australian vaper that got me into them. I like their manual ones. 100mah = about 1 hour of vaping, so 320mah is about 2.5-3 hours of vaping time.
Bloog also make good 808s. I haven't used theirs but they have a good reputation too.

Something else to think about is getting a bigger 808 about the size of a cigar or sharpie pen. Here's a couple of pics to show you size comparisons:
SI comparison.jpg2012-10-13 15.23.14.jpg

A 650mah 808 will give you 5-6 hours vaping time before you need to recharge. In the first picture the ones on the right are called X2s and are 650, 900, and 1300mah. In the second picture there's a blue 78mm Volt 320mah, a purple X2 650mah and blue X2 900mah. You can click on the pics for a bigger view.

On cartos, yeah - lol. First time I used one I had no idea when it would be empty. I had a tiy little pv and had trouble telling if the battery needed charging or the carto was empty first time around.

Anyways, hope that's of some help. If you are going to buy more of the ones you already have, then obviously disregard the bulk of this message.

I started out very similar to you, with eonSmoke. By the time my first order of better stuff came in I had about 30 empty eon cartos on hand. I didn't have enough experience to really evaluate eon when I started, but in the few weeks of trying different stuff I have learned a thing or two about eon.

First off they're cartos have TONS of flavor that vape well at pretty low voltages. I've tried over 20 different liquids and with many I just don't have a strong enough flavor. My initial memory of the eon cartos was with their tobacco, menthol and vanilla. I didn't love the flavors of them, but I certainly always could taste them well. The other day I saw my brother who had some eon cartos in his pocket and gave me a few, and as I suspected they have a crap load of flavor. I had to turn the voltage down almost all the way to not be pounded by these things.

I don't know what they do to make it vape so well at low power, but I'd say it's the right way to do it for their product. In fact, I think a problem I have with most e-juice vendors is that they are vaping on higer end PV's and don't realize that their liquid just isn't very good for someone who tries it on a little 3.4V mini. That being said, the first liquid I ever bought was from smokeless image, and it's still probably my favorite after trying over 20 different liquids. They also market to the entry level vaper so I suspect as well they make sure their liquids are tailored to work well for their hardware. I've found mostly when trying flavors that it's very often the performance, rather than the flavor of the liquid that turns me off, usually not enough Throat Hit, and not enough flavor.

If you want more mini 808 batteries I'd definitley recommend smokeless image. They are well priced, and the only ones I know of who sell a sealed automatic battery. I'd also recommend trying out their liquids, I've only had one, but as I said it was one of my favorites.

The eon cartos are actually pretty nice. Mind you I've only bought one type of other carto, but it sucks compared to the eons. For the geeks here, they are horizonal coil. I find they hold a lot of juice, and keep their flavor pretty well. One thing I've learned is that you're better off topping them off every so often then vaping them until they are dry. Basically whenever the flavor seems to be getting weak I drip a few drops into the carto, set it aside and vape another.

If you're looking to get a bigger battery, the Volt X2 from SI is nice, but for a few bucks more you can get an iGo revolver from NHaler with Variable voltage. I think you mentioned you're getting about 8 hours out of a carto, so I suspect you may not really have much need for a larger battery.

The rule of thumb I was given was 300 recharges. I've not questioned it as I still have the batteries I got when I started. I vape a lot too.

Many vendors also have the option to ask for a flavor bump at checkout. I suspect the Eon makes the decision to do that automatically because s their pv is an entry level product for most and it takes awhile for taste buds to come back.

Ive been totally analog free (finally) for almost 2 months now and my taste buds and sense of smell cut in and out on me, sometimes at the worst possible times. I think it all depends on how much you smoked and for how long before you'll start to notice an improvement.

My wife smoked 4-5 cigarettes a day for 25 years and shes got more of a sense of taste and smell than I do even after quitting a 2 pack a day habit of 30 years.

Could be the Juice, could be your taste buds...could be that one flavor is burning out of the carto faster then others. I've had this with cinnamon mixture flavors....the initial sweet or fruity flavor will dissapear leaving the cinnamon taste behind for a little bit. I'd look in to what flavors they are and if they bind with the wicking or not. Sour flavors are strangely known for doing that as well as cinnamon. Either one of these types will stick around for the long haul reguardless of what is in your carto.
A burning/sour taste could also be a coil shorting out, something to keep in mind. I tend to replace non-repairable atomizers after about 2 weeks or 100ml of juice depending on which comes first, I've heard carto's are good for a bit less due to the design but can't really recomend specifics because I don't know exact ( I don't use carto's on a regular basis, I do appologize for that).
The easy way to get to the bottom of things is to test a new carto, see if it tastes funny or is correct. If it doesn't taste funny then likely the chance is that your carto is bad. If it does then I'll look in to the battery/pv maybe being the cause by over voltaging the carto..just some thoughts on the matter.
