Why don't I love my Ego? Am I doing something wrong? :(

I wish I had an answer for that, mine works great all day (or until I use up the battery) especially as compared with my 510 - I could always tell when it was about to die because the vapor dropped off, with my eGo I can't tell until the light starts flashing.

Same for me, although I've only had that happen once since I got mine. Pushed the button, started a drag and *blink, blink, blink*....dead. Thank the PV gods for extra batts!

Are you using an LR atomizer? If not...you should be!

Exactly what I was going to say also....( btw did not read past this post) When I got my ego from LF also this week, I could NOT stand the reg. atomizers. I had to take it off and put one of my LRs on it... which was SOOOOOO much better. I can not stand the reg. ones. And also my ego lasted just a tad over 24 hrs on one charge...how it did I have no clue, my riva only got about 11 hrs top...I was shocked.

Well, I did get the adaptor so that I can use it with the cartos for my KR808's, and I ordered a manual model, because that is the only way to vape, in my opinion. But still, it is barely even functioning or performing at all. :( And that makes me SOOOOOOO sad... :(

That may be the adapter. Look in the adapter's carto connection, you'll see a very faint slot, like the ones on the bottom of the cartos. Not only is that for the cartos but it also works as a screw head. Turn it with a small screwdriver, counter clockwise I think but don't hold me to it, watch it and if it's getting higher that's the direction you want to go. Try a quarter to a half turn each time and then retest the draw.

The following thread link explains why some people who like the kr808 equipment won't like an eGo; http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/joye-510/65055-battery-voltages-surprise.html Pay special attention to posts #1 & #18.

esjam, your best bet is to pick up A) some low res atomizers, B) some low res 510 cartomizers or C) the premium carts from Vapor4Life and an adapter. The V4L premiums are technically low res 808s, others may carry them but I don't know of them. Regular 808s and an adapter might also work for you, not sure.
I am glad you posted this because it's what I was thinking the whole time I've been reading this thread if you use a kr batt and then use a ego or tornado it is a real disappointment !! The reason is VOLTAGE the ego / tornado is close to 1 volt lower so that throat hit is much harder to get .

Ummmm....StormFinch...I think I love you. Seriously. It WAS the adaptor...you were so right. A few turns counter clockwise, and I have flavor and vapor and throat hit. Looks like the eGo has been given another chance to redeem itself with me! :) THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! And thank you to all that have come to my aid in my vaping "time of need"!

I have an Ali'i on order, hope to get it in a week or so, so I don't think I want to spend more $$$ on new eGo batteries. Guess I'll have to make due for now.

Good choice. I went from an eGo to the Ali'i and sold my eGo shortly after. No need for it or anything that I have to fill carts or cartos. Plus the 18650 batteries last me two days on a charge. Get yourself a couple of 16340 protected batteries and try the vaping at 6 volts. You won't have to worry about TH, you'll have to worry about too much TH! I had to drop my nicotine down to 18mg because at 6 volts 24mg was kicking my ..... You're gonna love the Ali'i.

The one cone type battery I can definitely recommend is the eCo from Good Prophets. Basilray and I are having a friendly debate on the voltage and I've got a meter on order to check it, but according to Rob over there they're running at 4 volts. I do know that I'm getting the same throat hit off the eCo as I was my kr8s with an adapter and 808 cartos.

 You are very welcome esjam. Really glad it's working for you now. :)

BTW, you may have to readjust occasionally. The adapter can get out of whack from taking off and putting on the carto.

LR = Low Resistance
this means the coil leading from the atomizer is less compacted, thus the resistance between the heat element (coil) and the e-liquid is lowered. These are more expensive for less durability, but are supposed to increase the production of vapor. In my opinion, they are not worth it. I use normal KR808 cartos (with adapter) on an SP2 that works better than anything else I've tried other than a USB PT (passthrough). Your Joye may be dysfunctional (as they are all manufactured in China), or it just may be as simple as the blend of e-juice you are using. If your e-juice is primarily PG-based, you should expect more flavor and less vapor. If it is VG-based, you probably have a dysfunctional unit as the VG supports greater vapor production. Ideally, most prefer a blend of the two. Though it seems there are very few vendors out there that have a perfect blend.

OK
I agree with the KR808 and EGO thing. This will boil down to what you like - or don't.

I like the taste of my EGO, but a bit on the airy side because of a lot of vapor. I love the taste of my 4081, but not enough power for a main PV. I completely dislike the taste from my KR808. Point being, every model will taste different, no question.

People that like their KR should buy the EGO version of that model, I believe. 510 and KR do not taste the same, at all. Certainly not the ones i have...

My 808 PT is my perfect backup to my EGO (which I love) ...I really don't get why the 808 is so disliked by many? ...I feel when it comes to ECF that more like the 510...who have never experienced the 808 (specifically it's passthrough) Holy crap! the 808 PT is freakin great!!!! ...so that's where (IMHO) conclusions are being drawn from. This kind of reminds me of (in car terms) Ford vs Chevy.

can't just put a meter on it...you have to test it with a load on it.... the voltage drops when fired with a load on.... otherwise with just a meter they'll all test at 3.7-4.2V....unfortunately this leads to confusion but that's just the way these eGo type batteries were built....so far ALL of these types end up at 3.2V when tested under load...

well for one the prefilled cartos taste horrible expecially from one of the major vendors of KR808 products...
two....they just don't put out nearly as much vapor from a stock battery which seems to be critical for a lot of people expecially when they're first changing over...
three.... the taste is often "muddled"...it's just not the cleanest tasting PV...

I do not agree with you!!! ...trust me I love my Ego and my Riva ... I also know what a good vape is! The 808 passthrough (specifically with turbo cartos) is a top quality vape. Sounds like you might have been unfortunate by getting a bad one. (which can happen with any model out there).

Maybe your id or super-ego are getting in the way.......

Sorry.... had to do it. :)

P.S. If I ever manufacture an e-cig competitor to the eGo, it will be the "Id".

P.P.S. They make 1300 mah eGo/riva type batteries that may not drop off as fast (hard to find tho). There are many 510->??? adapters.

I vape at 3.6/3.7 volts with "box" mods... that may be more of what you are looking for.

I didn't say an 808 PT I said stock batteries...two completely different animals...

as are the different cartos premiums isn't the same as standard isnt the same as turbos (boge) arent the same as e2...arent the same as 510 cartos...

the PT running at higher voltage is different than stock...believe me I know...I like the turbos at 6V... the 808 on stock batteries horrid... and prefilled even worse... like the devil himself craps directly in your mouth
