I'm not sure if I follow the "trade association" route. Other than seeking product control, by giving the reseller /supplier a stamp of approval. Since the oem product certification is the sole responsibilty of the product manufacturer.
Suppliers are resellers, and being so -would be equivilant to being a member of the BBB.
imo -if ejuice is not exempt from the schedule f -due to dosage being below 4mg or labeled as a natural health product (no health claims needed)Self regulation probably won't be recognized by HC . They want their day in court and will continue to be the bully on the block, just because they can. Atleast in the US, there was money to fight the FDA.
I'm not sure if there is enough business to be had in Canada, for the large e-juice and ecig companies to put out the time and effort .
Pipeous - i agree, everyone knows -all products in NA are supposed to list ingredients on their packaging, including proprietary products .the e-juice makers shouldn't need someone to tell them this. god help them if someone drops from an allergy attack. just sayin..

I know there is one ingredient I am allergic to. I only vape one juice at a time and if it bugs me I through it out and go back to another that I know I'm not sensitive to. I don't want the caramilk secret but there is nothing wrong with stating the ingredients so I could pin point what it is that bugs me. Also juice shouldn't be made in a home without a separate space for juice making no different then if you wanted to make muffins for resale commercially at home. We have no idea if a vendor right now clips his toenails on the couch in front of the tv and then goes right back to mixing juice, icky.

I do know that Juicy Clear operates out of a lab facility, as their move to the facility occured right before they shut down for a short period of time... they may have moved back to residential operations, but i'm reasonably sure that they're still operating out of a proper laboratory setup.

I wasn't trying to pick on any of the suppliers in Canada, especially the smaller guys that are home based and have my trust.

Considering tobacco companies don't have to list ingredients, it makes me wonder if the same could be said for ejuice if it were to be regulated as a tobacco product like in the States...

That sure shows how powerful the big tobacc companies are. (they still haven't had to comply 8^) I read this on "the Consumerist."

FDA Wants Tobacco Companies To Submit Ingredients List By June
By Chris Walters on January 18, 2010 4:30 PM 3036 views

"Tobacco products today are really the only human-consumed product that we don't know what's in them," the director of the FDA's Center for Tobacco Products said to the Associated Press. To address that, the agency has told tobacco companies to provide a list of the ingredients in their cigarette brands by June 2010. The FDA says it won't publicize a lot of the data in order to protect trade secrets, but that by June 2011 it will publish a list of "harmful and potentially harmful" ingredients, at which point tobacco companies will have to start listing the amounts of each one on their products.

Hey there Mopar - I think you should send your post to juicey clear and or to whoever your juice supplier is. it seems to be a rational concern and a positive step in the right direction for product compliance. Its 1 less issue HC can play up, in this silly bureaucratic chess match, understanding that HC is not going to hold their hand and walk them into compliance.(not trying to sound abrasive),but its only a label and if they're not willing to stick another label on a bottle for safeties sake- they really aren't expecting to be doing business, once, if any, bs starts.
I've been talking to the vp of a very large manufacturer (my own personal cloak and dagger saga heheh) and have put a list together, I feel would be of benefit to them - labeling the ingredients is #2.
My Regards, Walt

Ingredients: Cancer, death. :)

Walt: I can't see HC not demanding an ingredient list if they ever bend. Tobacco avoids it only because they have been around for so long and so powerful but the 1/2 pack pictures of tumours and dead babies says much more then the ingredients. No one would even bother reading a list of 100's if not 1000's of chemicals if cig's did have an ingredient list. Plus all cig's made me feel crappy where as it's just the odd juice for me and finally when I bought cigarettes I knew that I was buying an early grave.
