Why I hate colored cartomizers...

First let me say I love e-cigs, especially the KR808-D1 I've been using for a year and a half. That said, man I do not like colors on the cartomizers for several reasons.

When I smoke/vape it's like eating. I just want to do it and not have people staring at me. There's nothing more uncomfortable than people gawking at me smoke or eat. The novelty factor has long worn off. But unfortunately with colored cartomizers or multi-colored batteries it immediately attracts bystanders to come by and stare at you. Or worse you have strangers asking if they can try it. This is not an ideal situation. Half the time now when I go out I won't even bring e-cigs with me because of the unwanted attention.

The second biggest is that some of these colors are downright... loaded. I ordered a Peppermint flavor and it arrived in pastel pink. Now I live in SF and I'm perfectly comfortable with my own sexuality, but frankly I'm not loving the idea of smoking a flesh-colored pink cigarette in public.

Am I the only one who's bothered by this? I wish that my e-cig company would ship carts in plain white or cigarette brown or at least give me the option. Sigh.

You know, the first week was hell in regards to the looks and chuckles that I had to endure.

Then finally, to my smoking buddies, I was like "Cool out! This isn't going to kill me, costs less, oh, and it tastes like cupcakes, so back off!" I said it with a wry look on my face, so I wasn't being a total d-bag.

Long story short?

After about three weeks, and about four business cards and a few handwritten website addresses, it went from me and about four smokers to three vapor-ers and two smokers who "just can't afford it." (Even though it is cheaper)

Now the back of the store (outside) where I work smells like a cloud of Atomic Cinnacide as opposed to a bunch of feet.

I was originally worried about the looks and so on, but now I basically run an e-cig workshop during "smoke breaks" and it's a blast.

By the way, it doesn't taste like cupcakes, but everybody loves cupcakes, and I knew it would rope 'em in.

I agree completely.

Another thing that bothers me is the sound the cartomizers make... that crackling, popping noise. I know that's good and means they're working, and I love their performance, but I'm always so paranoid that, to someone near me, it sounds (and looks!) like I'm using a crack pipe.

This is one of the reasons I'm hesitant to use any mods. E-cigs like the Thermo and Joker have awesome performance, but look like you're holding who knows what. Similarly, I'd love a Mr. Puffer, but I don't think I'm comfortable walking around sucking vapor out of a box. It would raise a ton of questions that I would rather avoid, heh.

Oh well. Can't win 'em all.

joye 510 for the win, sealed batteries so he could do his load and go, flat black, hides in hand easily for stealth vape
The 510 is the worst on this. As soon as people see a black shaped device in your hand, a strange LED light, and smoke coming out, they either ask to stare at you more while you inhale it again or they immediately phone Homeland Security.
