The only willpower I used was to buy vape stuff. I started vaping and cut down some but dual used for 9 months. I realized I couldn't see how it would eventually make me smoke-free but I believed. It is easier to change how you think gradually. vaping is chemically less satisfying, but I like it more, which whittled away at smoking. I never backed up partially because I never moved forward faster than I was ready... That leaves out the part of the story where using a primitive device caused issues incl. throat and I stopped vaping over a year, and started back even considering a possibility it was worse for me than smoking, because I liked it that much and was envious of seeing others vape! Grass is always greener ...

I agree with the suggestions for MTL vapes, but there's a lot of middle ground too. Sounds like it's beating you up. It would me. I like to take my time at vaping.

A mental mindset. Cigarettes, the smell, the taste, there is not a good thing about them. I don't even stand next to others that smoke. I got myself into a mindset.

I don't really care if someone else smokes...that is their idiocy.

The only reason I vape is to not smoke. That is the #1 priority. No fused, triple-twisted silly-xXxX anything is taking away that priority.

I do like the flavors, now that I can taste. No clouds, no high wattage, no analyzing. Just a simple 50/50 15w vape.

    Keep it simple....and have spares.

I stopped smoking the same day I started vaping circa 2008/2009, so I guess it all depends on the user.

I've been vaping Donuts Strawberry for the last week, and I'm already missing my RY4 liquid. The Donuts flavor is great, but not an all-day liquid on sub-Ohm. I'm surprised to hear you're coughing with 6mg liquid? When I first started sub-Ohm, I was using 12mg nic with satisfactory results. AAMOF, I'm going back to 12mg as soon as my Charlie Noble RY4 arrives.

I'll throw my two bits in with the "less is more" crowd. I muddled through the old 510/cartomizer/eGo gear back in the day and stayed off cigarettes, but the really enjoyable, pleasing experience didn't come until I got the Protank 2. Man, I would get myself sick on that thing, sucking away. I found a "modern" equivalent in the Buddha Mini which is now my favorite. .6 Ohm single coil, at 25W, it's a decent little puffer with great flavor*. Yeah, I've got mechs and drippers and a RDTA with dual Claptons but I always go back to the long, slow, deep draws. You just need to find something that suits you, whatever that may be.

    * that desperately needs to be re-wicked. Eww!

I started vaping in 2010. Went on again off again for a couple of years. Finally got serious about it in December of 2013 and went strictly vaping. Now I've got 3.5 years under my belt after 3 years of false starts.

I could recommend dropping your wattage a bit and maybe up the ohms on your coils. That should let you use a higher nicotine liquid and it wouldn't be so harsh on you.

Best of luck and don't lose hope!

Nothing satisfies me more than a MTL vape when I'm really looking for that nic fix or stress reliever. I have vaped for over 2 years and never had an all day vape till lately. I was always searching trust me I've had every style tank RTA, RDA, RTDA..... etc etc.
I was never a menthol smoker but I've found that I love the satisfaction I get out of an icy Menthol / Mint eliquid. (No tobacco flavor but fruits with menthol I like as well. This is what it works for me...
    1) MTL tank for low watts and high nic, slow long draw
    2) 50/50 ejuice gives great flavor and a punch of a throat hit.
    3) The Mint / menthol flavors also add a kick of a throat hit and a lingering cooling sensation.
This trifecta gave me the satisfaction that I'm looking for. (All about the TH) If menthol / mint isn't your thing well, I've tried a lot of tobacco juices and have not been able to find one I like but, if you can find a good coffee flavored ejuice I've found that that can mimic qualities of a cig. with its bold roasted flavors and being a little bitter tasting as well. I think it's the next best thing to a Tobacco flavor.
Hope some of this helps you find what your looking for in a vape...
Been an year now I'm here? Well to be honest "It's just the flavor" I can't take more than 3mg with my rda, It's impossible for my lungs...Tried 6mg, Burned my chest. I vape and try to lower the ciggs with the flavor.

Currently vaping on my X-Cube Ultra with Mutation xS RDA Dual Build Clapton (0.44ohm) And 85 watts, Cloud Niner Mango+Milkman 3mg with some mixed 23 more flavors....Now today I'm really curious...Why I never got any satisfaction from vaping? It never happened in last 1 year that I said "Okay I don't need to smoke now"

So will I die tryin? Tried with cheap 24mg juices even (Comes with 10ml bottle - Vaporfi etc) and with those, holding the breath.

Now I'm totally confused with "what to do?" Will I quit vaping and accept lung cancer with smoking? I'm just disapointed....Tried everything, literally everything, but still smoking...Why everyones satisfied with vape and I can't

    Tried Nicotine Gums+Cold Turkey+Meditation+Positive Affermations

Vaping isn't the same. It will never be the same. Maybe one day I'll say it's BETTER (well it is better on so many levels, I just don't always feel that way :) ) I started out with a huge tank at 60 watts, and nic at 12 m.g. wasn't satisfying.... It's not really the way I smoked, either. The two things are completely different. I really perfer less vapor at a lower wattage that I don't have to direct inhale, which is not how I smoked.

I'd try that and if you're really desperate, some whole alkaloid liquid throughout the day when you get awful cravings. To me, flavor's kind of a bonus (unless it's bannana, PBJ or bacon) but I don't expect it to taste like smoke.... It doesn't. You sound like you're being really hard on yourself and I get it. I dual vaped after quitting for 2 weeks for a couple years, eventually giving up on my vape in disgust. Came back to vaping years later due to health issues.... I don't think I'll be using alkaloids forever, and I use them sparingly, but it's enough to have given me my first smoke free day that I can remember, yesterday (and not without a struggle, it still was hard at times) but I cannot REMEMBER the last time that happened. Vape is all about harm reduction though, so the fact that you're still being persistent and asking for solutions/options is AWESOME. Don't stop!

I looked at this site, thinking I sort of knew some stuff about vaping, but as I read and asked questions, I realized there was so much for me to learn and so many supportive people to help correct my misconceptions! You can do this with the right support, and until you get things figured out? Keep reading, trying stuff and asking questions.... You can get there. Good luck!

Ha, took me 5 yrs to throw out the last pack. Still have the 2 ashtrays to throw away yet... It got a good grip.

I remember when I was young and trying to improve my behavior, I got very frustrated trying to get Rid of it. What ended up working fine was taking the focus off of it and focusing and practicing the Good behavior that I wanted. Giving the negative any attention gave it power over me..
I kept my vintage Duk-It beanbag ashtrays with the deep cup and real brass beads. ;) Those things are great for holding small parts, tanks that I don't want rolling away, and stuff like that. They are the best for working on the car because you can put the bag on almost any surface in the engine bay and not have to worry about losing all the nuts and bolts you have to take off when making repairs.

    YO,,, @riddlesmyth
You're getting lots of support, good suggestions and folks are genuinely trying to help.

But, you gotta come back to the thread & at least read their responses.

If I & many others that have struggled to quit can do it, so can you.
    Don't give up.

    Oughta magnetize it then :)

If I had one of those big recliners, one of those ashtray stands would be nice for holding vape supplies now.

Vaping is chemically less satisfying, but I like it more, which whittled away at smoking.
I really like what you said above.
I've never heard it put that way before, but it sounds just about right.

Then again, there is WTA liquid and nic salts out there now.
So maybe we can start getting there "chemically" for those that need those things.
    :)
I've been vaping Donuts Strawberry for the last week, and I'm already missing my RY4 liquid.
Since I've gone to zero nicotine (almost 18 months ago) I really miss my RY4 liquids.

But at zero nicotine there is no throat hit...
Which is apparently something I need more than flavor...

So now I vape with homemade mixtures that always include a minty base.
Those minty bases at least make me feel something.

I never liked menthol cigarettes, so go figure.
But ya gotta do what you gotta do.

I wish I could go back to using nicotine again.
Certainly no health reason not to, and plenty of health reasons to do so.

But my workplace health insurance wants to charge me $100/month for the privilege.
And I'm not on board with that.

I've heard that a stronger PG content increases throat-hit. I haven't tried this yet, as my PG base has a 60mg nic content.

Not every method to stop smoking works on every person. I don't know of anything that is 100% effective 100% of the time. After significant effort and a year of trying, maybe vaping simply does not meet your needs. I hope you find some way to get off cigarettes that works for you.

Some People needs to use tobacco infused e-liquids. In addition to nicotine, tobacco contains a dozen or more of different alkaloids (nicotinone, anabasine, etc), each with a different dependence patterns.
Tobacco infused e-liquids replicate exactly the smoke but are difficult to find and more expensive.
    Hope this helps,

Try natural tobacco extracts (NETs) and you'll never want a cigarette again, its pure tobacco flavor without the tar. From there after you're off cigarettes you can go to other flavored juices. For a die hard cig smoker I recommend mouth to lung tanks like the Nautilus Mini, Nautilus 2, Triton mini (top fill that works great) or ego One tanks with CLR coils, with high nic 18 to 36mg, 8 to 11W power. Vape like you smoked and you'll use only a couple of ml a day with the high nic.

For me it was finding the right flavor first. It won't be a flavor that tastes anything remotely like a cigarette. As-in, a raspberry/watermelon blend worked for me, after 30 yrs of Camel filters. And you won't know it till you try it and go ahhhhhh after you exhale. Keep trying different flavors, even from different places. Eventually you will stumble across it.

Then, dial up the nic until you're not chain vaping to keep your mind off smoking. I was a hard case, using inefficient vape gear that is long obsolete. 36mg is what it took. I am satisfied now with 24mg in my much better gear, and have gotten by in a pinch for a few days with some 16mg purchased at a convenience store.

What helped me a lot was making smoking much more inconvenient than vaping. At home I vape wherever I want. If I wanted to smoke, I had to go get the pack and lighter out of my dresser, then go outside to enjoy. I'm usually pretty lazy, so the appeal of not getting up to do the smoking ritual versus reaching for the vape right now was the usual choice.

I would say +1 to the low power keep it simple advice, but that's not fair for me to say. I reached that non-smoking point before all the sub-Ω high current vaping came to be mainstream. I vape to keep from smoking and what I use gets-er-done. It's not a hobby for me, so I never explored or had any interest in cloud chasing.

Besides, it's been my experience that the choice of hardware really addresses reliability and handling more than making the vape more or less satisfying. That is, assuming everything is working as it should.

And despite all that, on the day I realized I had gone 3 days without a cigarette, it still took a tiny bit of willpower to keep the winning streak going. So, yes you do need to want to quit too.

Everyone's different when it comes to flavors and what works for them in vaping. I tried over 70 flavors and settled on about three lol. With NETs it took zero will power for me to stop smoking.
