Why I will probably never buy a mod...

For me, smoking and/or vaping has always been about style and taste rather than just a way to get a nic-fix.
I like my e-cigs light, compact, and clean which is why I stick with the KR808D1 stuff. I have some 510 batteries and tanks, but I find them to be bulky and messy. To me, mods are even bulkier and messier. No offense to any serious vapers out there who I am sure will disagree with me, but as far as I've seen, if you use a mod, you have to carry a heavy, bulky piece of equipment around with you, and usually a bottle of juice to boot, whereas a shorty or standard 808 battery and carto can be carried in your pocket or in a small case. If a huge cloud is your thing, a mod is the way to go, but you can get some pretty decent clouds with 808 batteries and small clearomizers if you know the little tricks. The manual batteries tend to produce bigger clouds, but I personally prefer the automatic batteries as I drive a manual transmission and work with my hands, so I need something I can vape on without having to press a button.

This is my first post, and I am still a bit of a vaping noobee, but I would welcome any comments or suggestions. Thanks all!

    This too shall pass

The normal progression is that now that you have found what you seem to like, you will begine to search for more efficient ways to do it.

I had the same idea when I started vaping small, easy, and no gadgets. That did not last long at all. My first setup was an EGO mini, I now use an iTaste MVP 2.0. Now on another note I drive a 5 speed and work on cars too and I have no real problems. If you ever make the jump an MVP is a really durable LONG lasting VV VW unit.

Welcome to ECF! Thanks for sharing your success story. Some of us have, indeed moved to the big crazy mods. I didn't think I would (I started with ego batteries, not KR808D's, though). And there are some of us rocking the small setups long term, too. We (well, I) don't care whatcha vape on, as long as you keep on vapin' and love it. That's what matters :vapor:

I still have my first e-cigs and use them when I want to try a new juice without filling a whole tank. I also have an itaste vv3, which I love and use daily and a Provari, which was a gift, and it is the best vape I have had. That doesn't mean that the other things are no good, and if (when) my itaste gives up the ghost I will likely get another one. I think most of us start out with the e-cigs and they seem like a miracle after years of cigs and then next thing you know, you read these threads on the forum and want a bigger miracle and want to try a bunch of flavors of juices, so you move up a bit. In the end, it doesn't matter what you use as long as you don't go back to cigs.

I loved the tiny light weight M401, M402 and M403 cigalikes except for tight draw. They were great for hands free vaping. I cut end off mouth piece and used tail pipe elig drip fill. I upgraded to 18350 mods when my vendor stopped carrying M401 supplies.

Now days I don't want anything that resembles a tobacco smoking product because I'm turn off to tobacco smoke.

First things first, welcome to ECF where there are people that are more than willing to help you out with just about any questions or problems that you have!
Secondly, I am a strong believer that whatever device you have that keeps you from smoking cigarettes is the best device out there for you to use.
I do have an MVP2 with PT2's, and Mechanicals with RDAs that I learned how to rebuild coils, but I also have a Smok Winder with an EVOD on it that I still use all the time. I basically upgraded because I wanted more battery life, then I was chasing the best flavor I could get. No one should try and slam you for using a device that doesn't produce huge clouds of vapor or is a sub-par vape for them now that they have more expensive mods. For me personally, vaping has turned into a hobby but its primary purpose is to keep me off smoking cigarettes. It's great to hear your story and congratulations on quitting smoking!

Welcome to ECF! You very well may stay with the KR808s...and that's fine. I used them for a little over a year nearly exclusively (although I did move to the larger X2 eGo sized ones about 3 months in). I eventually got the "mod envy" bug and tried numerous "bigger and better" things in the 510 line and enjoyed myself quite a bit (and accumulated a LOT of different mods and atomizers in many different configurations and price) for another year. But now...3 years into this journey of vaping (and NOT smoking! yay!) I reverted back to the smaller form factor last October, and am back with the eGo type PVs again (mostly passthroughs). And happy. It was just an evolution for me, and for me...after exploring the novelty, the shiney things, and chasing the "perfect vape" awhile...I discovered I had already found a perfect set up FOR ME and my vaping style/needs. I found I could get the cartomizers and the tanks I liked (not a fan of the clearomizer type tanks at all) in the 510 variety for less money. So I use the 510 eGos (mostly Joyetech and Smoketech) exclusively. All my fancy mods are packed away, now. It was a fun ride, and I will continue vaping and DIY-ing my own e-liquid etc. But I'm no longer obsessed. I am content, and I like it! ~~~~ Retired from the chase :vapor:

Welcome! I, like everyone else that starts out Vaping, also wanted things light, compact, and tastes/feels like cigarettes. Most of us started out on things like green smoke or blu cigs. Now..... I practically vape with light sabers (iTaste SVD, VAMO V5, zmax, etc). But start where you wish and feel comfortable first, then just go with your own flow of Vaping. Maybe someday you too will be a Jedi master. Or Sith Lord.

If it works for you, run with it.

Personally, the absolute smallest ecig that I've found that can keep me satisfied is my Halo Triton. Even the more common eGos aren't enough. Anything less in vapor production won't keep me from smoking, and personally I prefer a LOT more vapor than any cigalike can ever produce.

I go through 3-4ml per day of 24mg nic juice. If I had to rely on tiny cigalikes I would be killing off 4-5 batteries and refilling the little carts at least a dozen times each day. Using a combination of my mod and home and work and the Halo while driving or being out and about, I can grab a fresh battery for each and top off both tanks in the morning and not have to worry about either one again until the next day.

Yes, it's bigger. Yes it's heavier, but I only need to spend about 1 minute once a day to have enough juice and battery to last all day long no matter where I am or what I am doing, and you do not have that convenience with a cigalike,

A lot of my friends have mods, and I've tried a few, and you certainly get a huge cloud from most of them, but I'm not looking to win any cloud contests, and I personally prefer my V2 EX auto batty with a clearomizer. Its nice and light and I can grip it with my teeth. I have heard Kanger makes rebuildable tanks for 808 thread. (I might try some of those next)

You should stay with this, you'll save yourself a buttload of money. Good luck though if you're gonna hang around here...
