I have been lurking on here ever since I discovered electronic cigarettes about a year ago. This is my first post.
This forum is a truly remarkable compilation of user experiences and information on the subject.
It is by far the best on the web, which I why I will contribute my story and seek out advice on my situation.

Lets begin with a brief history. I did countless hours of research on e-cigarettes before I decided to buy my first device. I decided on the Joyetech eGo using CE2 Cartomizers. I found Volcanoecigs.com selling a re-branded version for less than other resellers, so I purchased their Inferno Kit.

Everything was great at first. The vapor production was excellent. The flavor was potent and delicious. I was in heaven. I quit smoking completely within two days because the cigarettes just didn't taste sweet like the Volcano e-liquid (Blue Water Punch). I was using the CE2 Cartomizers and refilling them with a syringe. It was a bit of a chore but well worth it to me.
Unfortunately, the bliss was short-lived. Soon my cartomizers started getting a burnt taste. I tried desperately to fix the situation by attempting various cleaning methods (boiling them, soaking them in alcohol, etc). Nothing would get rid of the burnt taste. I gave up on the batch and ordered new ones. I figured maybe I had dry burned them and the wicks had been permanently damaged, because they looked black inside even after cleaning. What did I do? I ordered a new pack of CE2 Cartomizers from a different reseller and was back in vapor heaven. This time around, I was very careful not to let the cartomizers tank get empty. I kept them topped off with e-liquid for fear that the burnt taste would return. Sure enough, it did. Even after I was so careful not to let them burn dry.

I gave up on e-cigarettes after that. I figured I wasn't saving any money because the cartomizers were only good for a few refills before they started tasting foul. I figured e-cigarettes were just an online gimmick and not a legitimate alternative to smoking cigarettes. I was mad about all the money I spent on my supplies. I threw everything in the trash.

After several months of smoking a pack a day, I decided to give e-cigarettes another chance. I figured maybe I just needed to try a different device. Volcano has just started selling the eGo-T Tank System and I was very excited. Maybe without he wicks on the atomizer there would be no burnt taste. I ordered a kit an Interno-T kit.

Soon enough, the eGo-T started to taste burnt. I tried the same methods I had used on the Cartomizers in an attempt to clean them. It did not work.

I resorted to dripping with a drip tip, but the atomizers would get a bad taste after a while as well. Then i tried washing them and they wouldn't work after drying.

If I added up all the money I have spent on e-cigarette batteries, atomizers, liquid, chargers, drip tips and supplies, it would probably be about $700. I feel like I have wasted all this money for nothing, only to finally realize the gimmick that these devices are.

So that is why I'm going back to smoking cigarettes. I am curious to know if anybody else has had similar situation to mine. I am also curious to know if there is perhaps a better engineered device for me that someone can suggest.

Thank you for your time. I eagerly await your replies.

Hi! Sorry you've had such a struggle with your e-cigs! I spent a bit of $$ myself trying to find the "perfect" fit. I did not like the CE2 or ego tank cartomizers myself. I have been much happier using regular old Boge brand cartomizers. I use 2.0 or 3.0 ohm both with my Egos and they work well. You just pop the soft top and fill them up, no syringe or anything fancy. I use a drip tip on mine so that it's easy to remove it and top off the cartomizer. You can find Boge cartomizers from several suppliers, I recommend Liberty Flights if they have them in stock. I use a cartomizer for about 10 days & then toss it. They're meant to be disposable, so just shop for the cheapest ones that work for you.
Also, shop around for more flavors. I was really into sweet flavors when I first started vaping, but now, many months in, I've gone back to sharper tobacco/menthol ones for some reason.
The e-cig market is growing all the time, and your costs will win out as you settle into a system that works. You might try some FSUSA flavors (they have cheaper sample sizes). Best of Luck to you!

Dude, or Madam, whatever the case me be. I'm a newby to this so I can't give you advice about the burning taste but do the math. You say you've spent $700 bucks. That's 100 days if your smoking a pack a day at an average price of $7.00 per pack. My wife's cigs (she has not quit yet) cost $8.20 per pack. Think of medical bills if you want another perspective. One smoking related illness could cost mega$$$$$$. Not to mention your life. That burnt atty taste is nothing like the burnt cigarette taste you get with every cigarette to me. Wish I could offer you a solution instead of a rant. Just my two cents.

There is an investment made with ecigs. It takes time, trial and error to find what works for you.If you truly want to quit and improve your health then its worth it.We have this community to help and support each-other so that you can get through the learning stage and find your proper products that give you a satisfying vaping experience.Nobody ever said it was an easy one size fits all cure.It requires effort. Most of us have quite a bit of time and money invested in improving our health. Its worth it if its what your after.

If you've been reading and lurking for a year, I'm really surprised you would toss everything away. There are many that would trade, purchase, or even gladly accept your unwanted items.

If you aren't completely tarnished on ecigs, I would suggest trying something simpler and basic. As the previous poster said- I too did not care for either the c2s or the tanks. I do believe both products are difficult to use (especially for a novice vaper-- not saying you are one, but many new vapers start out with these 'new' products and expect miracles).
YMMV and all IMHO of course; but I happen to think the regular Boge cartos and/or dripping on a regular atty are the simplest, easiest, and purest way to vape.
Yes, many love the c2s... But they CAN be a lot of work and they can be tempermental
And yes, many love the tanks... But they too can be tempermental and tend to be weak in flavor.

My best suggestion- for you, and any newbies out there.. Stick with the tried and true first. If that works for you and you want to venture into other options.. -then- look at all the other new and interesting products in the vaping world.

Best of luck to you.

I am a newb, but have done quite a bit of research, and after a week of 3-5ml per day on the same atty (dripping) I have yet to lose much if any flavor, though I have learned to hate carts, but I would like to try cartos. But with only a week of experience with my provari thus far and a lot of purchases in juice and other supplies I still have a solid projected savings within 45 days (2 packs a day at just over $5 a pack in ohio).

Im still amazed that people smoke in places like NY where a recent road trip took me, at least I bought a carton in KY before I left (think it was 38 bucks) or I would have cried in a gas station spending $20 for a days worth of smokes.

Have you tried a Bloog (or equivelant) yet? I ask because I was having the exact same "burnt" issues you were having. I figured it was just something I was going to have to deal with. I tried a few brands, while still smoking cigarettes. But it wasn't until my Bloog came in the mail that I put the cigarettes down and haven't picked them back up. I've been refilling the same cartomizer for 3 days, and I have yet to encounter that nasty burnt plastic taste. After purchasing 4 different styles of e-cigs, I think I've finally found the one for me. There's one our there for you, you just haven't found it yet........

I've gone through many of the same frustrations as you. I've yet to find a cartomizer that I like enough to stick with, and the tanks were so fussy that it drove me to distraction. Now I almost exclusively drip with my eGo and occasionally use cartridges that everyone but me seems to hate. I still try out new cartomizers when I see them recommended; still hoping for something better. There's a lot of experimentation involved with finding the "perfect" (adequate even) hardware and liquids, but back when I first started smoking, I didn't settle on a favorite brand of cigarettes right away, either - that took years.

Perhaps try dripping and consider a mod? I read raves about the Reo.

hi Ph0enician..dont think of the $$ save by using e-cig...like others here..our health is more important..i am 30+years on analogs...i only wish i got to know about e-cig earlier than the 4 months i started on e-cig...and only about 2 months strictly vaping..e-cig is still new to me..whatever experience with our equipment,we can overcome with the help/assist from members/veterans/admins suggestions to our vaping sensations & new makes of e-cig constantly updated..i find this site so comprehensive A to Z on e-cig with helpful members/veterans/admins to assist

if U give up yr e-cig and goes back to analog because of yr "bad-burnt-taste" experience..i also had that with my mega 510T until i found this carto(G4)as i also use my atomizer and cartridge, the burnt taste dont bother me but the atomizer /cartridge better "vapor-smoke"..the G4 carto vape is so much "cleaner" but lacks "vapor smoke"..hope U get to use this cartos G4..hope this help U and stay with us,strictly vaping..regards mafig

These empty G4 clear cartomizers is a revolutionary product! It combines the cartomizers with tank cartridges perfectly, which makes our vaping more convenient! Each G4 empty clear cartomizers can carry 1.1ml e-juices e-liquids! This G4 clear cartomizer can be refilled and reused for 3-4 times, the performance may obviously degrade if you overuse it!

Pure clean, no prefilled e-liquid/primer liquid

No soldering,

No polyester fibre,

No glass fibre wick, it is the healthiest cartomizers now

I was a 2pad smoker . For what I paid in a week for analogs I could have bought a new starter kit every week and 30ml of eliquid . So for me to buy a new pack of cartos every month plus eliquid I save more than I ever spent . I have given some of that money back trying new things but after a while you stop doing that so much . Best of all I can breath much better and have less worry about lung cancer .

first off, i agree somewhat of the pita in the beginning. buying batteries, carts, attys, juice. so i sold off my stuff, and am concentrating on boxmods. cheap, durable, and the batteries are cheaper than the ego. i love my ego, but hate the price or the batts.
as for the bad tasting carts, i agree. i drip lr attys. i smoked for 35 years, and quit as soon as i got my ego. i have tried a smoke here and there, but now realize that i wont smoke again. personally, i like the 3.7 mod, 510lr attys. i hear the 306 style is even better!
i use menthol and mix it with other flavors. choc and rasberry mixes well.
hey dont give up! its still better for you. stay on the ecf, and get some education. if you dont know, ask, and someone here will give ya some advise :)

Burnt almost did me in too. The first time it happened to me I thought I could never go through that again.

I have since learned how to make sure cartomizers are filled right from the start, kept wet, and thrown away when they have served their purpose.

If I had done everything right (for me) since the beginning, this would be my cost:

$145 REO Grand with shipping
$40 Two AW IMR 18650 batteries with a charger with shipping (possibly replace every 6 mos.?)
$20 for some accessories I wanted (adapter, cone, stainless steel drip tip)
$6 Bottle of Noalox (will last 2+ years)
$3 a week for Boge LR cartomizers (free shipping)
$3-5 a week for DIY juice or $15 a week for purchased juice

Even if the weekly cost came to the same amount I was spending on smoking, it would be so worth it for my health alone.

Ecigs are trial and error but you can't give up. Money gets spent until you find the perfect setup and juice to keep you away from cigarettes.

I would suggest a standard ego or riva kit with a couple boxes of boge standard resistance cartomizers. After 9 months, this is what has continuously worked for me. I no longer buy new products that get hyped about until I read reviews.

The tank system and ce2's are a fail in my book.

Please give it another try with the cartomizers...you might be surprised. We are all proof that ecigs work. I smoked 4 PAD and quit the day my kit arrived and haven't looked back. No matter what you choose, I wish the best for you in the future.

I would suggest getting an 801 usb pass through some 801 attys and just try dripping . it's what i do and i've been using the same atomizer for nearly 9 weeks . no burnt taste and still plenty of vapour. get a manual pass through not an automatic . if you dont go out much this is a good option . you'll need a usb walk plug as well .

I've been through several systems since January (when I started), and still probably don't have the right one. But I'm already saving significant $$'s (1.5 pad in Washington @ approx. $7.5/pack - that allows for a lot of experimentation!). And I don't cough any more. For me it would be worth it even if I wasn't saving a lot of $$ (which I am). My suggestion would be to go for something simple. But good luck to you either way.
