It's not happening where I live. I shop at the wal-mart. Prices are pretty much the same as they were this time last year. If any increase, just a few cents. Chicken and fish are my favorite foods so I buy a lot of them.

Here's a tip. Go Fishing. I fish at least a few times a year off a local pier and catch plenty of good catfish, trout, flounder, croakers, red fish and others. Sure you have to pay for the fishing license, rod & reel, hooks, sinkers and bait but in the long run it's cheaper than store bought fish if you catch enough.

Best fish money can buy at the supermarket: Pals Southern Style Battered White Fish. Made by Odyssey Enterprises Seattle Washington. This is a 20 oz package (about 9 filets per package) of really awesome spicy Cajun style seasoned and battered fish - best served fried. Kicks Ms Paul's and Gortons to the curb for the same price - about 4 bucks a bag. We get it for 2 dollars a bag because the local store has a half off sale about once every 3 months. We buy 5 or 6 bags at a time and it lasts a long time in the freezer.

I'd say Go Chickening but the farmer with the shotgun may not like that.

In our house, we substitute the word Chechen (as in Chechnya - Russia) for chicken.
You can't help but giggle when you say,
"Why did the Chechen cross the road?" or "I feel like Chechen tonight!" or "What's the matter? Are you Chechen?"
I've gotta stop now...

The market where I shop has five pounds of chicken quarters for 2.99, everyday. I don't see that as being expensive.
Buying a bag of hindquarters here is 7.99 for a 10 lb bag. On sale, it is 4.90 for a 10 lb bag. However, buying individually costs much more (I think it was 1.29 a lb for the hindquarters today at the store).

Someone mentioned coffee and OMG yes! That stuff is getting outrageous! I work in a grocery store and everyone acts like I personally am stealing their money-believe me, I am not getting it! I don't automatically get a raise when prices increase! Milk is another one that has creeped up on price although not as fast. Eggs too! It is too expensive to eat anymore!
