Why would anybody buy the red efest ?

Because they know in advance who makes the cells, and what they are going to use them for.

You see, efest doesn't make them ... they just market them.
There are two manufacturers of purple 18650s, do you know which is which, or what their actual ratings are?

Yep LG 18650 2500 / 2100 mah 30amp but to me they don't perform as well as my VTC4's even with the same rating ....

    And the real specifications are:

    LG 18650HE2 2500mAh
    Chemistry: Li[NiMnCo]O2 (H-NMC) / Graphite + SiO
Max Continuous Discharge Current: 20 amps
    Positive terminal type: Flat Top
    Diameter 18.3 +0.2/-0.3 mm
    Height 65.0 ± 0.2 mm
    Weight: Approx 45 grams
Initial Internal Resistance measured in megaOhms with a 1khz AC signal: Specified 15, Actual 12 to 13
Initial Internal Resistance measured in megaOhms with a DC signal: Specified 30, Actual 21 to 22
    Nominal Voltage: 3.6
    Max Charge Current: 4 amps

Now you can see WHY it's necessary to do your homework!
The HE2 is actually a GOOD 20a battery. It is NOT a 30a battery!

Based on the conversation with the xtar sales manager they are indeed VTC4 re-raps but if your diehard efest fan buy all means spend 4.00 more $
I will be testing these and trying them out in my god mod 180

You mad bro? Ever heard of a salesman stretching the truth? In that spec above Xtar shows you can charge them at 10 amps but I believe that may be stretching the truth just a bit.

No doubt they will deliver electricity. On the other hand, so do all batteries. Don't judge batteries' worth by the fact that it stores and outputs electricity. We don't stress using authentic IMR batteries over other chemistries/unknown batteries due to how well they work. We do so because how well they fail; compared to other li-ion chemistries.

Famous last words: Hey, looks like it works. Crank it up!

Naa not at all, I'm not worried about how fast I can charge but more so the pulse discharge and true mah capability's.
Just want to try something different on the 180 watt mod with the big dripper for all day / night vaping affairs...

Max Charge Rate is generally a FAST CHARGE Rate and is always well above recommended Charge rates.
This does not make it Stretching the truth or a fraudulent battery.
Every good RC modeler knows this.

If you think Xtar Batteries are not the Sony VTC4 spec - your mind set is incorrect.
It takes about a millisecond to insert a Button top instead of a Flat top - Per Customer Request.

But an 8 hour shift to shut down, retool, and restart the line. Which needs to be done twice for every "Per Customer Request".
