My thinking is that all the mass mod builders bought all they could when they realized the demand was high. Most of them get their parts from the Chinese distributors that have likely also sold out. This means they/we all have to wait for them to produce more or produce our own. This is just theory of course.
It's pretty easy to turn an adapter into a wired connector though...
Very easy. Just solder a lead to the outside, and then a lead into the center (most bare 510 connectors have a hollow-center middle pin). If you are going to be building something anyway, might as well take the time and save yourself a few pennies. Plus, you can determine the wire gauge yourself!

p.s. Been all over the country; Lawrence is one of my fave towns!
Thanks guys and you're right. I gave up on prewired and just wired the connectors myself with no problems. I didn't even have to disassemble them. Works better anyway because all the prewired one were gold, I need silver connectors.
In the mail today were a pair of 510 connectors pre-wired and with stainless steel tubing soldered in for a bottom feeder mod I'm planning to make. I got them from boggersboxmods.com. He also has other DIY parts.
